Hey gang,
You know the deal by now - I work for a company that buys and sells comics books (www.sellmycomicbooks.com) and it's my job to grade the issues we sell as "raw singles" on eBay (seller name: dotcomcomics).
I never have any idea what is in any box I’m given to grade. Thus, I invite you to look over my shoulder as I make the discovery of what my day will entail. It’s always a good time as we re-discover some great old comic books and recount stories about all the amazing worlds that were!

Hey Duke Red Booger! The Dan Decarlo artwork was the best for Veronica, Betty, Cheryl, and the rest of the females in Archie comics. Still collecting Archie books. Good job Duke! Ron from Melbourne Fl.

That pink cover is by the great Harry Lucey. Dan DeCarlo did most of the Betty and Veronica issues along with Lucey and Bob White. Best box in a while, redbooger!

Loved the Archie's, since I mainly collect Gold Keys, I limited myself to trying to collect all the superhero and spy covers for Archie and I was fortunate enough to have found Little Archie #1 at a garage sale a few years ago. Keep up the good work Red Booger out.

Harvey and Archie were the first comics I read. My mom would buy them for me and my brothers but she would read them first before we dirtied them all up with our red booger fingers.

Yes indeed Bill was Abe's brother. Just read about them in The 10cent Plague, great book by the way. Thanks for the recommendation. Any other comic related reading suggestions? You are batting 1000 so far. Love, love seeing the older comics! Thanks for sharing. Red Booger!

Thanks for the compliments. Comic Book Implosion by TwoMorrows Publishing is a great book. It's not a narrative for the most part, but a collection of snippets from the 1970s, and from afterward about that era, the really flesh the decade out for comic book fans. Nominally it's focused on the infamous DC Implosion of 1978, but it really shines. light on the entire industry from that time. You'd be surprised how close DC was to going under even before the Implosion, and the same, perhaps even moreso, for Marvel. It also fascinating how frank industry professionals were at that time about market woes. You should still be able to order the book from the Twoorrows website.

Man, this was really interesting. It's driving me crazy why the police are grabbing Archie. Also the tv teacher in 1966? Did they have a studio in the School? Oh yeah, just before covid a guy got a hotfoot at our softball game, it's still a thing. I'm going to share your video with my sister, as she loved Archie Comics as a kid. Keep your nails trimmed, or you might pick to hard, and get the dreaded Red Booger!

Did Neal Adams do Archie Comics?.

Adams got his start at Archie, actually. His first published comics work appeared simultaneously in ARCHIE'S JOKE BOOK #44 and ADVENTURES OF THE FLY #34, both published Oct. 29, 1959. After getting turned down at DC, Adams tried his hand at Archie's super-hero line. The FLY work is actually a single panel cut from the samples he submitted and pasted into story to cover a panel deemed inadequate. However, Joe Simon, then in charge of the Red Circle heroes, otherwise expressed no interest in using Adams. So, he was encouraged by other editors at the company to try his hand at the teen humor books. Adams' work ended up appearing in ARCHIE'S JOKE BOOK #44-48. All issues featured half-page, or one full-page gag fillers. AFAIK, that's the complete Adams Archie oeuvre. From there he went on to assist Howard Nostrand, doing backgrounds on the BAT MASTERSON newspaper strip, then entered the commercial art field, working for the Johnstone & Cushing Agency, which specialized in comic book art style ads.

🤓 You RED my mind about BOObly GERlS , Duke! 🤗😍Josie 🎶🎶! I include Betty 😍 who is on my short list of blondes! Yep that is Veronica and Miss Grundy on the cover of Archie # 18 , when Archie had more of a down to Earth look. The actors on the radio show during that time closely resembled , for the most part , their characters appearances in publicity photos. I favored Harry Lucey's style on the books and really enjoy(ed) Bob Montana's work in the comic strip. Speaking of comic strips Archie isn't kidding on the Reggie comic book with the sub heading as Archie's Rival because Reggie , probably intentionally , resembles Harold Teen who was the "Archie" of comic strips from 1919 - 1959. 🤔 I believe Wilbur , 😍Ginger and other "Archie" characters lived in the next town over. If you wanna talk about alternate universes you need go no further than the Little Archie title because in that reality Veronica and Sabrina grew up in Riverdale unlike actual continuity where they settled into Riverdale during their teens.

🤔In your response to the comment question about Neal Adams , Duke , you left off his involvement with the Ben Casey comic strip which was based on the very popular tv series. In those Ben Casey strips especially the Sunday feature you see the body language being used that he would bring to his comic book work.
