For a report in the specialist magazine “Eisenbahn Magazin” and for this video, I borrowed a series copy of the diesel locomotive V 320 in gauge 1 (scale 1: 32) from Märklin (item number 55320). The model is largely made of die-cast zinc and brass precision castings. It weighs 9.25 kilograms and is 719 millimeters long over the buffers. Despite these dimensions, the locomotive can also be used on narrow track radii from 1020 millimeters.
Märklin realized the model in seven versions from epochs 3 to 6 - at an RRP of 2990 euros. The model presented here corresponds to the V 320 001 as it was in operation in 1965. It has a multi-protocol digital decoder for the digital formats mfx, DCC and Motorola and, with a corresponding digital center, has up to 32 switchable functions - in addition to numerous light and sound functions Model has two smoke generator units that work independently of one another and an electrically switchable Telex coupling at the end of the locomotive. Another Telex coupling is included in the scope of delivery for the front of the locomotive.
