This is how chair reviews should be. Different takes from different people. How does the Amia compare for bigger people? I'm about 6'2" and he was saying the Series 2 was small for him.

Ive tried a few chairs --- ive tried a leather used think (from a store that sells used and refurbished chairs) --- tried a herman miller aeron but never took it out of the store -- i was that unimpressed ... tried a gateway vito mesh --- it was ALMOST right but not sure how it would have been over time ... tried a SecretLab Titan --- they were MOST accomodating and were willing to work extensively with me --- i had it down to returning the chair to them with MANY accomodations by them --- and managed to sell it online to someone local for the same money SL would have given ... and less dissembly required --- SL was VERY sturdy but was wayyyy too firm for me ... i tried some accomodations and it just didnt work --- was somewhat sad to get rid of it --- but it was a rock ... Im considering the Steelcase Criterion refurbed by a US company with great return policy and reviews and warranty (the 12 year) ... but im concerned it might not be a good chair for someone my size ... I am 5' 10" or 11' and about 240 lbs right now --- hoping that will improve but it is what it is right now ... I was steered toward possibly the Amia and one other steelcase chair ... but of course thats the next big LEAP pricewise ... I also briefly tried a leap and another chair --- forgot the brand it was very flexible ... seat pan is an issue for me as i have long legs ... so not sure if this helps anyone or u can advise how the series 2 stacks up or if its appropriate for someone my size ... steelcase returns are only 14 days if u buy it in the store === im not sure if they pay for fedex Pickup or have to drop the chair at a fedex place ... and not sure how they are to work with .. crandall is my choice to try for refurbished ... seems they are pretty thorough ... my problem with most of the chairs is the lumbar i think -- upper/mid back and neck pain ... the secret lab also had the firmness and if i sat more than slightly wrong in it --- dont think the lumbar was great for me --- i contemplated a cushion but the ONLY one that fits in between the wings is the omega cushion from secret lab --- i didnt get that far but almost ... there IS a lumbar cushion i found that is quite nice --- i sat in a chair with it BRIEFLY --- but would probably spring the 50 bux or so to buy it on amazon Fellowes has a lumbar cushion WITH straps that might fit a variety of chairs .... its triangular --- not sure if posting the link to it here is appropriate?
@kmm5684
@kmm5684 2 года назад
SL even transferred the remaining warranty to the new owner --- or were willing to --- IF he pursued that im not positive --- after all the negotiations i lost about $50 on trying their chair ... for an extended time ...

PSA: These people don't know what they're talking about saying the seat is "uncomfortable" or "stiff". The seat is perfectly comfy and cushiony. Also, PLEASE do not be guilted into buying the $1000+ Steelcase chairs. This Series 2 at the $400-600 range is PERFECTLY fine, and noticeably nicer than chairs you'd try out at local office stores.
@Nigel__
@Nigel__ 3 года назад
Seat comfort is subjective. If the seat is comfortable for you, great. If someone doesn’t find a seat comfortable, it by no means suggests they don’t know what they are talking about. Enjoy your chair and let others decide what’s right for them.
@ruffsnap
@ruffsnap 3 года назад
@@Nigel__ Yes what some people consider comfortable varies, but it's straight up dishonest for them to act like the seat is super hard or something. It is OBJECTIVELY not "hard", it's a soft seat. Sure there are softer seats though.
@tch204
@tch204 2 года назад
I just purchased this chair, and at least in my opinion, the seat is very hard. It hurts sitting for many hours on end. However, it's mitigated a bit with maintaining proper seating position (as long as you can take it)
@ruffsnap
@ruffsnap 2 года назад
@@tch204 The only way I could possibly see the seat feeling "hard" is if you're in the obese range of weight. I'm over 200lbs and sit on the chair for 10+ hours a day and it's easily the softest office chair I've sat on. And that hasn't changed in the 5 months I've owned it now.
@btodtv
@btodtv 2 года назад
We are not being dishonest. We are basing our opinion on seeing over 100 different chairs. The seat on this chair is one of the firmest seats we have tested. That doesn’t mean it is uncomfortable for everyone and it doesn’t meant it is a bad chair. But it is certainly a firm seat in the world of office chairs. Saying otherwise just shows a lack of experience with office chairs in general. -RB

@btodtv

Personally, I would go with the Amia Air if those were my options. The Amia’s seat has a deeper feel to the cushion. I have been sitting in a standard Amia for a few months and love it -GK

The only Haworth chair worth considering is the Zody and maybe the Fern without the forward tilt. Other than those Steelcase will be your better option by far.

BTOD chair reviews are really cool. I'm currently in the process of choosing a mid range chair for my home office and utterly confused between the Series 2, Think and Zody from Haworth. I tried all 3 chairs, but 15 mins in the showrooms is barely sufficient to understand much. I'm somehow inclined towards the Think, but the back has some play even in the lowest setting. What would you recommend between Think and Zody, at say the same price point?
@btodtv
@btodtv 3 года назад
Thank you! Agreed, it can be tough only trying something for 15 minutes. You don't get the full experience, finding out potential pain points. It's nice to use the chair as you would be using it in your office -GK

Think is WAY better. I have Think at my office which is great. I can work 10 hours straight in it with no discomfort. I recently bought a Sereis II for home, and I hate it more and more every day. The low back and overly loose tension settings give me major neck and upper back fatigue. There is no way to manually adjust the tension or the angle of the locked position of the back rest, so your choices are: locked completely upright, or an overly loose, full recline. There's a middle setting but it feels exactly the same as the fully-loose setting. btw, I'm not a big, heavy person. 5'11 160lbs. Anyone want to buy a 2-month-old Series II?

I've been using a beat up cheap chair that is tilted and all the leather is coming off for years, my neck is in bad shape tbh, I just got this chair cause I could do payments for it and I'm in a position now where I can afford this price range unfortunately not in Embody or Leap territory yet. I'm 5'11 I weigh 250 just wanted to know from anyone, would this be a generally good chair for someone of my height and weight? I'm not afraid to use the return policy once I get the chair, but I just wanted some thoughts from anyone that's similar height and weight to me.

This should not be taken as a review, it's literally some random people sitting in an ergonomic office chair expecting that it should feel like they're in a spa. I have tested all steelcase chairs (work, showroom) and the Series 2 is not "firm" or "stiff". It is not supposed to be a leather couch where you sink in, an ergonomic chair is supposed to support your back and posture. If you are looking for an ergonomic chair with a 12 years warranty but you don't want to spend 1k, the Series 2 is a really good option.
@btodtv
@btodtv 3 года назад
This is a “first impressions” video. No where does it say that it’s a full review. We have all of the popular Steelcase chairs in our office and have extensive time in each of them. The series 2 is without question the firmest of their 6 most popular ergonomic chairs -GK
@greenteaenjoyer9068

@@btodtv Correct, the title of this video says "first impressions" but look at the comment section. Everyone sees this as a review, hence me saying that people should not take this as a review. If you would actually read what I write, you would see that I wrote: "This should not be taken as a review", I have never said that this is a review. And again, having tested all of their chairs: This is not a firm chair and not the firmest one.

Steelcase's site is pretty awful. This colour combo isn't even available now, it looks like. Is it a glitch? Has the line been downsized? Supply issues? No idea. Also the load time are eye gougingly slow.
