These work well with Gripping Beast and Victrix as well as Frostgrave and Oathmark . Look at the Irish minis by Wargames Atlantic they mix well too. The slingschere are fantastic as there are few other alternatives.

Great generic dark age types - bodies some heads and some weapons are good from 4th century Germans to Vikings. I've used Victrix and Gripping Beast heads and weapons with these. I'm looking forward to the Franks - but not holding my breath as I think the Goths came out around 5 months after they were due.

Ordered a couple of sprues of late romans to kit bash to add to my mountain of angry looking men with pointy stabby things that I haven't quite worked out what I am doing with yet

Yet to assemble mine, but I think they fit in nicely with the gripping beast cavalry and spare heads from those packs.

A good kit, my only complaint is about the few daggers/knives in the sprue, it was a weapon very widespread and useful for these guys. About the swords, by the late 4th century the old gladius had been superseded by the spatha, at least for cavalry units, so, given the number of goths in Empire 's service, it isn't a problem to equip them with different types of swords.

The spatha was also used by legionaries, from about the mid-3rd century, as I recall from Harry Sidebottom’s excellent novels set in that period. There does generally seem to be a lack of secondary weapons in sets of this kind. I noted the seax on the sprue but don’t know if there are enough for the all the spearmen and archers, who would surely have something of the kind. Spears - not only plastic ones - are far from indestructible.

Having just taken delivery of a single sprue, I must concur regarding the paucity of knives: the sprue has but the one seax to be distributed among the five warriors, though it’s fair to say there doesn’t seem room for more. To think I was hoping for spares to use on other figures lacking a secondary weapon! The lack of detail on the backs of the shields is also disappointing, without even a suggestion of wood grain, let alone straps or handgrips. The inclusion of 15 distinct heads is a definite plus point, however.

Dealt mostly with their Sci-fi stuff but the sculpts on WGA are very good hand have been getting better on the newer kits, which this is one of. I still think Victrix has the edge on detail. however WGA minis are much easier to mix and match parts with then Victrix so it really depends what you want to do with them. Build OOB probably go with Victrix, more parts for the bit box for kitbashing WGA

Any recommendation on a good make of snippers, I have army painter and they're ok, but just ok.

Tamiya do good ones, including some very expensive ones for cutting finer parts. The more basic one will be fine for sets like this, I would think. There are many other options, though. If you do a search on YT you’ll find several videos comparing the various ones from different brands, many of which will probably be unfamiliar. You’ll probably be unsurprised to learn that Citadel ones, while perfectly adequate, are seriously overpriced.

The high end ones certainly are. I’m not sure what the standard ones go for now as I’ve had mine for a long time. Xuron is another brand to look at. I’d also suggest looking at the Japanese brand Engineer, which isn’t aimed at modellers but have very well made tools for reasonable prices. There is a UK-based seller on eBay.

Try an eBay search for these: PLASTIC CUTTERS side nippers gate moulds cut tie wraps Japan ESD Engineer NP-05 I have these, among others. They’re not budget tools, but worth the extra money over cheap ones, in my opinion.

I didn't know that the Great War was ONLY fought by the French & Germans 😜 According to Wargames Atlantic it was. Let's hope the British join forces with the French etc in defeating the Kaiser 😜
