Unboxing: Gothic Tarot and Updated Thoughts on Consumerism and Tarot

Your approach on the topic of consumerism is perfectly fine (and I absolutely love your channel !!) but I agree that seeing all these unboxings is a bit frustrating because we are not used to this on your channel, and the ratio unboxings / real reviews is a bit unbalanced at the moment... at least in my opinion ! Of course, it takes a lot of time to actually work with the decks and review them in the way that you do, I totally get that. But from a viewer perspective, it can cause a bit of frustration, because what we all love is hearing you talk more in depth about the decks, how you work with them, etc. However, I really don't want to complain too much because all the videos you have done these past months in the "tarot and witchcraft" series are amazing, you are such a thoughtful and inspiring witch, I am very very grateful for all that you share with us ! 🙏

You may be thinking about Anne Stokes’s Gothic Tarot when talking about the “other” gothic tarot.

🤩😍 glad you showed this deck ( finally).🖤 I got this deck directly from this artist ( Joseph Vargo)* signed * 🥰back in 2018. This deck is So beautiful & it's in my top five. There is an element of dark, Enchanted mystery in the images of these images that makes this deck so intriguing. I gravitate towards the dark decks. I highly recommend this deck to those who are willing , IF you dare, to discover the dark side of your soul. There is also the *companion book*that I recommend getting. It's still available on Amazon. Dark and wild blessings to all!🖤

If anything your videos have made be more deserning about what decks I buy and this channel has saved me money by seeing a deck before I buy.

Great deck! One of my favorites to use for samhain season and one of the decks I learned tarot on. All of the artwork was preexisting except for the 1's, 2's & 3's which I think is why he went with pips on those, but he did alter the pre existing artwork to fit into traditional tarot. If you go online and google his artwork you'll see some of that which is really cool. Btw this deck looks amazing when it's edged in black ;) As always, love you videos, reveals and reviews🖤

I honestly am thankful for your reviews because usually I’m like: “That’s not for me!” My personal sense of art/aesthetic is very particular and very few decks hit the right spot. However: thanks to your thorough work, I actually purchased both the Faeries oracle and Into The Lonely Woods, neither of which I would have gotten otherwise because they were not on my radar. I love both and am glad you do in-depth reviews instead of just flip-throughs. So you actually help me save money and only get decks I really, really want.

Very beautiful cards, but as they are so big I would prefer to buy something different. I kinda like declutter videoes better than unboxing videoes, as the person has gotten to know the decks better at that point and will come with a more honest review. When something is brand new it can be hard to know if you will like it or not even if it looks good at first glans. But a great topic no mention, no one should use more money than they have, and you don't really need more than one! 😊 Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Have a wonderful day. 💖

I would be curious for you to do a video of in print decks that have a similar vibe to decks that have gone out of print. Feel like when you've been in tarot for a while there is always the deck that got away that then goes out of print. But sometimes you are craving a similar energy and want to look to what is out there and always love your thoughts and recommendations. I will name for me the deck that comes up is Ludy Lescot (sigh and small tear). But I would be curious if you did a poll on your instagram and RU-vid what folks would share is their deck that got away or went out of print that they wish they could find another deck for. I've never owned this deck or felt particularly drawn to it, but I gotta say it's nice to see a deck pop up that goes way back. When I used to hang out at Aeclectic tarot forum around 2005-2006 I know this deck was very popular for a while, and a big deal for people who love vampire/goth stuff. :) This took me down memory lane in a fun way. When it comes to consumerism I think you're doing a wonderful job showing your viewers that being a deck lover is all about using and learning from decks, and not just buying the "hot and trendy" decks and have them collect dust. Your reviews are always in depth and it's so obvious that you've gotten to know the decks and not just glanced at them. :)

Disappointed by the pip vibe from the 3 first cards from each suit. However, other than that, I loved the cards the same way as you. This deck makes you def wanna sit a while with it and reflect. Thanks for sharing it with us.

New to the channel and the tarot, but in general I have found deck unboxings and reviews to be quite helpful as the glimpses into the cards and guidebooks have actually kept me from wasting money on decks that I might have been considering, but would not have been right for me. Thank you for the time you put into your content and the insights that you choose to share.

I always loved this artwork. It was used for Dark Realms Magazine. It’s no longer in print but it was a great Gothic magazine.

This deck would go so well with the Madame Endora’s Fortune Cards for a really spooky season reading. I’ve never seen it before. Thanks for sharing!

I like this deck, it seems like a very 80s aesthetic and it's similar to the Vampire tarot, which I have. I may buy this one.

I love the art, especially the gargoyles! But not a fan of the 123 cards. So right about the consumerism of decks! I have been collecting and it's a constant temptation but I try to only add decks that have weight beyond being pretty. I like how you ended the video with that question so people think for themselves.

I am really happy that you do honest reviews. Some channels seem to love every deck they purchase or have given to them, and it almost has a peer pressure vibe of "you need this deck!" I like the healthy debate between deck collectors and decluttering. This deck in particular only like 2 of the images really speak to me, so I'd pass on this one - but I'm still so glad you reviewed it :)

Very gothic looking :-) The cards have that Nox Arcana look to them. Some of them remind me of some of their album covers :-)
