The "Deluxe Edition", which is what I have here (a run of 350) has a black faux leatherbound spine and includes a black envelope with a picture of Jim as well as an image of his poetry, both of which are hand numbered; The "Collector's Edition" (a run of 1650) has a green faux leatherbound spine and does not include the black envelope with the 2 inserts. Thanks for watching and I hope this video helped in some way :)
Even that edition is worth the money IMO. It's a great book and in years to come will only be sought after more and more. I had initially thought about not opening mine either but I believe such things are to be enjoyed during the little time we have here :)
@@Michael69 I agree with you, I always think about everything I keep with the thought that it will increase in value. it's just money and the joy of something is worth more. However, I have a little daughter and who knows, maybe she will be very happy with it one day and just this thought fills me up
Yes!! I thought about doing an unboxing with mine but changed my mind . Been a doors fan since I was a little girl. 35 years now . :) It’s a beautiful book ( I don’t even want to open it) I have the deluxe #294 .. so happy with it ❤️❤️ Had the same thing with the bag! So tight on it.
I thought it'd be something nice to do for those Doors fans who would love to have one of these but simply don't have the funds. This way, they can still have a sneak peak of what's inside. It really was expensive but at the end of the day, it's only money, right? Thank you for watching and for your comment :)
@@Michael69 100% agree . It was my only major purchase I’ve made for myself …I’m a huge doors fan and I would have bought this even if I had to make payments for a short time . So fun to see others able to open theirs as well and appreciate it as much as I do . Thanks again!
@@Michael69 mine is playable - I was worried though cause it had fallen out of its holder during its travels . I didn’t look to see if it was warped but I did play it once
@@missblink4611 Yeah, the slot in which it sits is definitely for visual aesthetics as opposed to practical purposes. I haven't known anyone else yet to have received their vinyl damaged (save for scuffs and dust via transit) so hopefully mine is a one off :)
Thanks! Good luck with the delivery and I hope the vinyl isn't warped as many of them seem to be. To be honest, the first song I heard was most likely "Light My Fire" or "The End". I couldn't tell you with certainty. It was a lifetime ago whereby I was a different person. Before that, I was in a phase of being obsessed with Led Zeppelin. The Doors were, I guess, further testament to my weird nature and a reassuring light in my life that I'm not as alone as I think.
@@Michael69 You’re never alone when you’re passionate about music man. There’s too many kindred spirits out there that share that same joy! There’s nothing quite like it. Of course “Light my fire” is most peoples intro to the Doors.. it was mine (but very young at the time) But I think the Oliver Stone film is what got me. “Not to touch the Earth” in particular. Waiting for the sun still my favourite album! Stay well mate. Keep following those passions!
@@colmhardiman4556 I appreciate your kind words :) I enjoy watching the Oliver Stone movie despite the several fallacies throughout that terribly inaccurate movie. Great acting by Val Kilmer! I love Waiting for the Sun. It has a special place in my heart as I listened to it quite a bit when in Europe 11 years ago (and yes, while in Paris I couldn't miss laying my eyes upon Jim's grave). Each Doors album holds a bunch of unique memories for me; depending on my mood, I can choose a certain album and almost always feel better by the end of it. Favourite Doors song? (Hard question I know!)
Hey buddy. Mine arrived yesterday. Record was also warped and doesn't play which is a real bummer . Thinking about returning it but probably not going to eventuate. Maybe because we are in Australia with all that travel . I'm in Melbourne.
Hi mate. Sorry to hear about that. I just received my replacement vinyl today. Can you believe they sent it in an envelope? One piece of flimsy cardboard. No "fragile" or "do not bend" signage on the outer packaging. It was not only warped again but also has some foreign object pushed in the grooves on side 2 which makes 2 loud pops. Also, there's another defect in the form of a very small dip also on side 2 (which I'm sure happens during production). I'm going to be letting them know that this is not acceptable especially considering the money spent. They are really lacking vinyl etiquette here and it's a shame on their reputation. I know another guy in Aus who got one and he said his is fine. No one else I know has had any problems with theirs - that being said, not everyone has a player or is into vinyl enough to even know there's an issue. Thanks for your comment.
@@Michael69 ' vinyl etiquette ' is so sloppy . What are they thinking? How to you go about getting the replacement? I bought through a NZ company but I certainly intended on looking into it . Especially considering your success.
@@twomindz79 I bought mine direct from Genesis Publications so I simply sent them an email with the proof of the heavily warped vinyl (photos of it on its side as well as a video of it spinning on the flat platter). I guess you could contact this NZ company and perhaps they will direct you to Genesis who can get you a replacement. It's worth a shot.
MICHEAL, Do you know any doors or Jim Morrison albums that he is reading his poetry while their is music in the background? I have an american prayer album but I heard there are more vault tapes to make a part#2 and boxset which haven't come out
Unfortunately, most of what exists has already been released. Every known Doors song has now been released, with "Paris Blues" (or what's left of it) finally seeing the light last month. When The Collected Works of Jim Morrison was released in 2021, the audio companion did come with some poetry being read by Jim himself. That audio had, until then, never been released. "Stoned Immaculate" from An American Prayer with the "Texas Radio and the Big Beat" part is probably the closest you'll get to what you're looking for.
@@Michael69 There is a bunch of live door albums and I'm not sure the song names that in the live shows he is reading his poetry while they are playing music behind him it was called jams but most of the released live albums they cut them out it seems and just only kept the songs. Try looking into the poetry read songs on their lived albums because its sometimes during the middle jam part of the song.
@@waynegram8907 Yeah, Jim often improvised lyrics and poetry in instrumental sections of songs. A classic example is during "The End" during their Hollywood Bowl performance on July 5th, 1968. Celebration of the Lizard was pretty well prepared, lyrically, and is a brilliant live poetical listen of theirs.
@@Michael69 Doors live TV Europe 68 Robbie is using an echo delay unit while jim is improving poetry lyrics click here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pcAS_i79WYE.html
So what i have been wondering is does this really contain any written content NOT in the The Collected Works of Jim Morrison? From what i gathered this just contains more artifacts & hand written notes not any further content but I'm just guessing.
@@majik_man Hey! I've not had a chance to even read any of the books myself. Life is super busy and I've not really had a good chance to just sit and read anything for many months now. When I eventually do get around to the books, I'll try to keep you in mind and will let you know what I discover. BUT, as far as I know, the books are identical except for the few additions you get with the super deluxe version as mentioned in this video).
Greetings! It's black because it's the "Deluxe Edition" of which only 350 were made. The "Collector's Edition" or "Special Edition" release, of which there were 1650 made, is the green book :) At 05:36 I show the difference between the two
Yep! I know. It was really disappointing. I couldn't believe that all the money we spent for these sets, they just sat the vinyl in there like that, being bent and scratched. The vinyl you see here was warped beyond playability. I asked for a replacement. It was sent to me in a plastic mailer, no cardboard reinforcement or anything - it was also warped. I asked for yet another replacement. They ensured me it would be inspected to the highest grade, that it would be perfect on arrival. It also arrived warped. Unbelievable.
