It's a lovely production this book certainly I'm glad I got a copy but I do feel including only a segment of the 69 session wasn't fair, especially since it's been bootlegged for years. I think all of the 69 and 70 sessions should have been included in their entirety.
It would have been nice but this enterprise isn't in the business of vinyl distribution. The packaging of it alone is quite bad in terms of etiquette and the end result is more attuned for sight than the listening experience. Either way, it's still great that they released so much of Jim's written works, less than half of it having ever been circulated before.
@@Michael69 yes I appreciate that but it just seems to me that given the fact that genesis publications state each release is unique so they aren't restricted by any format or design, and since this is a study of all Jim's work to just include a tiny part of his recorded poetry seems a poor decision. It didn't necessarily have to be on vinyl as nice as that is. It also seems to me that at the price point, exclusive recordings would be the least I'd expect. I wonder what happened to the hours of recordings from the 1970 session, it's even referred to in the liner notes of the audiobook. This would have been the perfect opportunity to release the cinemathique recital Regardless I'm glad something like this finally got done. I wonder if more replica notebooks or American prayer replicas will be produced in the future
@@anytimecowboy Yeah we don't yet know why they didn't release it. Perhaps there are copyright issues; maybe The Doors Team are waiting for a special anniversary to release it as its own entity (which will come along with another hefty price tag I'm sure); or maybe they just didn't think of releasing more than 4 and a half minutes worth of his spoken word despite having 'unfettered access to his archives' haha. Thanks for commenting!
