Picked up my new Burberry Trench on Oct 26, 2016 at Holt Renfrew Vancouver. Trench: Sandringham Mid Length size 50 (I mentioned size 52 in the video but this is incorrect) Purchase price of ~$2300 CDN in Oct 2016
DUDE!!!! Worth every single penny. Love your house by the way. So clean and organized. You should do a tour video of your house. Over all it was an amazing video, I have enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing with us, much Obliged!
i tried i think the same one on at the Nordstrom at the mall of america and it fit perfectly. I asked for the price and had to put it back before they started charging me for wearing it. I might get one when i get my tax returns thougj
Lol that's true. Black is great colour. Sleek, mysterious in way. However, all brands have black trenchs. This colour is iconic. There's no mistaking this is burberry.
The Kensington Gabardine is their classiest one just make sure don’t wear it too fitted as these coats were not made for fitting necessarily but more for comfort over coats and try not to look too perfect as most north Americans tend to do but just relaxed not caring look makes it chic and makes you look that you are not trying too hard.
I'm going to do a post purchase review after a year. The coat has definitely loosened up as the Burberry associated had said it would. It no longer looks as fitted as it does in the video. Still cut very nicely on the body, but not tight or fitted. Takes some time after wearing it to form nicely.
Im so god damn annoyed they discontinued the Wiltshire. For me, raglan sleeves are a huge part of what makes the Trench iconic. Getting rid of the raglan shoulders is like getting rid of the belt or the collar. Theres a place for the modern hybrids but I wish they kept the classic in the line up. The Westminster is still around but that cut really doesn't flatter anyone.
Beautiful coat. Does the Sandringham trench coat (the model in the video) fit better than the Kensington trench? There is also the Chelsea one, which shoud have the slimmest fit? Not sure which model or colour I should take. Choosing between navy or black. Black is classic, but i don't want to look too formal. Normally wear dark denim jeans. Any ideas/input from anyone?
At the time of this video, the Sandringham was the slimmest fit. Today, this may not be the case. Styles and fits change from year to year. Have to chat with the Burberry reps on the latest style.
Hey Tony, I just bought my Burberry trench and have been having issues with the arms being a little tight. Yours looks similar to mine where it is a little snug in the shoulders and arms (hard to fold arms). Have you had any issues over time with this? Thanks!
Hey, not sure if the Burberry associate mentioned to you but the coat does expand over time and I found that to be the case. I wore inner layers (hoodie or jacket) undernearh to keep warm and found over time the arms and waist, shoulders expanded a bit. Now it fits perfectly. No issues for me. Just make sure you get the right size though. It only expands so much.
Thanks! I will say this. It's a timeless piece. Having wanted one since 2010, I regret not getting it earlier so I could have worn it earlier in life (ie would have started in my mid 20s). I'm happy that got one now. Better late than never. :)
very nice, fits you well- this would be in the class of police/detective style trench coats- a bit on the fancy side but the coat is above the knees which allows you to run after suspects. I have a long trench coat and an above the knee police trench coat which is very plain and has covered buttons and no straps, that way it don't get caught on things.
Yes I did try both and it was a tough decision! However, I went with the Sandringham because it fit slightly better. It's their narrowest / slimest cut trench and for my build and it works perfect. The arms are notably different as well as it's slightly more tapered than the Kengsington. Think of it like buying a suit. You want one that fits your body better.
This mid length trench feels like it's a modern look/fit. It was quite surprising to see how the trench stretch over time. It does not feel tighter over a suit.
Hi, you mentioned that the store ordered a brand new coat for you. Did you have any concerns buying the Coats they already had in store? I want to buy one next Month but im unsure now wheter to buy it from a store or online? Would be nice if you could reply. Ty
Hi, the department store (Holt Renfrew) ordered me a new coat because they didn't have my size in store. I have no issues with buying in store as long as the fit is right. That's what's important.
Hello Tony Insua, this trench coat looks really good on you ! I am also willing to buy one mid-lenght burberry's trench coat but i don't if it will suit on me ( i am 1 meter 77= 5,8 feet) That's why i wanted to know how tall are you ? Thanks in advance for your answer :)
Looks good on you man , I have a question is it normal that my Burberry trench jacket goes down to almost my ankles ? Or is something wrong with that ???
I know this is an old post, but the coat you describe is the correct length for a trench coat. It should also be loose enough for wearing a jacket under it.
@@Cliffracer46 At first they seem a bit tight and restricted, but I realized that the places it does restrain you it doesn't actually feel uncomfortable and it's only in positions that you barely use. If you can go to a store and try on as many as they let you and ask to wear one while shopping. It'll let you see if you like the cut and it's comfortable. None of mine have formed any show of wear even after several years of ownership.
It looks uncomfortable. A tight fit may be flattering but I wouldn’t be comfortable wearing something that tight, and wouldn’t reach for it. Looks nice though.
That's what I thought too at first, having tried it on for the first time at the store. We're just not used to a properly fitted jacket. Having worn it many times now it's not uncomfortable at all, even with a mid to light sweater underneath. The coat is a treated cotton material so it does stretch out, adding more mobility and comfort.
I recommend seeing the Burberry associate (like I had done) to get your true sizing. When I first tried it on, I actually thought that it was too tight/form fitting but the associated assured me that's how it's supposed to fit. It's crazy because we are so used to buying clothes that are too big for us. I'm so glad that I listened to the associated and did not size up 1. Best advice: listen to the associate, they know they're talking about!
I'm a bit worried, someone sent me a 54 as a present as we speak. We're the same height, but I'm 20 pounds heavier... I hope the 54 will not be too big.
Keep in mind the coat will stretch out over time. If it's just a bit tight, I wouldn't worry too much. I could wear a fleece underneath this jacket now and not feel uncomfortable.
Just tried this on at Harry Rosen, the size 50 fit perfectly and I'm 5'8" and 140lbs. I work out though and have low body fat, so my shoulders and chest are bigger than people my weight.
The coat stretched out - it's perfect, still going strong after 5 years. I think it's the perfect length for me (mid-length). It's too bad they don't sell the Sandringham anymore.
How's the quality holding up? Going to buy one in a few weeks time after a lot of thought. Just looking for last minute reassurance it'll last for years to come.
Jack Finn I've been meaning to do a follow video on this. The trench is holding up great! The size has been prefect. It did stretch out a bit as the sales associate mentioned it would. It's all about the fit so make sure Burberry helps you with this. I get compliments all the time. And also give compliments too as you notice who's rocking a Burberry trench. Sort of like a rare club :) haha
Yes sir, I bought a black Kensington, mid length, in size 48. My friends told me to go for honey but I feel more confident wearing all black - occasionally wearing a contrasting t shirt. I'm very happy with it, I'm hoping it'll last for a minimum of 5 years and anything more will be a bonus. The assistant in the shop said it should last 20-30 years! I'm just over 6ft and naturally skinny so the mid length is more of a 3/4 length reaching just above my knees. The only issue I have is it's a bit loose around the waste (I'm a 30inch waist and the coat is 32) but I wasn't going to sacrifice the practicality of the Kensington (room for tailoring/jumpers) by swapping for a Sandringham (merely t shirts) I'm 22 now so maybe i'll beef up a bit over the next few years adding a few inches onto my waist. Sorry for the long winded response I can be quite scrupulous!
Lovely Jacket but never button there flaps back in the middle as it's not designed to do that and looks stupid. The top of the flap yes not the middle, just wear it open.
Because the cheaper Burberry items are manufactured in Turkey - item5.tradesy.com/images/burberry-brit-alizarin-crimson-leather-jacket-size-6-s-6191659-5-0.jpg?width=720&height=960.
