I have to say she is a beauty. I just found my 1st featherweight…white 221k7. Serial number dates it June 1964. Made in Great Britain. I found it at our local savers thrift store in a moving box marked $19.99, with my 20%off coupon I only paid $16.98 for the most exciting sewing machine I’ve ever owned. I ordered a new belt and I’m ready to clean her up and start my featherweight journey.
I just stumbled upon your lovely video! I have my grandmother’s Featherweight 221. It’s a lighter shade of green than yours. I’m 62, so I think it was manufactured around the time I was born. I love it with all the enthusiasm you showed in your video! I hope you’re having a ball with her! 💕
It's so fun to see you unwrap her. It's funny that they wrap it up like it's Bisque china or Wedgewood crystal...when these little machines are some of the toughest in the business. Mine was "born" in 1938. 85 years young and still sews better than any other machine I have!
I have a Singer 201. Blissful elegant black. It looks so beautiful, mature, and ready to work. This cute Featherweight in neotenous green, looks so... Cute. It looks like a true featherweight.
I just revived my first FW 221 and I reacted the same way. Mine is a Blank n Gold from Oct 1951. I was so overwhelmed and excited as well. Your color is beautiful! Enjoy and thanks for sharing!
I bought my 22l in the seventies. Sewed all the time! Then I bought one with bells and whistles and let my aunt borrow my featherweight in '92 "to hem her slips". Well, time passed and I did not get it back and her house caught fire! Everything burned. My aunt escaped (great!) But my precious mint green featherweight did not!!
oh my you almost had me crying!!! I agree the best gift ever!! Some day I'd love to get one of mine panted teal!! I have the same green cabinet as you do but mine is blue.. enjoy your lovely "new" machine!!!!
Lovely! I'm sure you have been enjoying this little gem. I have a 221K and am teaching my 8yo granddaughter to sew and car for a machine. Mine is celery colored. Built in Scottland 1953... blew my mind at a garage sale not a scratch anywhere on her. Lady said it belonged to her grumpy MIL and was glad to get rid of it for ..... (wait for it...)... $25.00 in 2000. I did tell her it was worth WAY More. She chuckled at me and said 25 bucks or not at all.
She is GEORGEOUS!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!❤😂🎉🎉 I cant wait to send mine off to be repaired and painted strawberry pink !! I'm so excited for you !! Makes me wish mine was already done !!😊
The screwed on spool mount is where you grease the gear. The motor is on the right hand side at the back and base of the machine. You didn’t show us the foot control. I still have my 222k bought for me as a 14th birthday present. My mother went without to buy it for me. Still in excellent condition along with the box, after a busy life and subsequent exile to the attic. I had the foot control rewired to meet current UK electrical safety standards and got the timing sorted out. In the meantime had bought a fancy new machine when fixing my first one would have been sufficient to my current requirements.
Did you get it by winning it on the featherweight faire that they have once a month on the first Tuesday of every month, I love the featherweight shop! I have four featherweights and one of them is white that I won on an online auction with an estate sale About a year ago!
You said you have to look at your other one to see where that part goes on top of the featherweight. So what other one do you have? Is it the original black 221?
I'm always looking for new channels to watch and yours was suggested to me. Being the owner of 2 featherweights (black & white) I couldn't resist with the title. She's beautiful! I was guessing it was green way before you got it open. And btw, happy belated birthday. I can't believe you are 50!! Surely that's a mistake and you just turned 30??
Lol I already have two with original paint. I love the painted ones I’ve seen on Pinterest, so hubby listened and made my dreams come true. I’d like a yellow one as well. Thanks for watching😊
Calling a featherweight “heavy” really? Lol. Out of all the wonderful colors …. Green would not be my choice. Motor oil is for motor sewing machine oil is for gears and friction points that’s sewing machine maintenance 101! Enjoy.
