Hello. The Scrupleworks impeller does a great job. It is considered by the good turns of the market with very good results. The look with linen is considered top class. The process with Naniwa made the process easy for me on time. The edge finished in 12k offers a smooth edge and quite sharp. It gives the shave an airy edge and very effective...
Good day. I would like to know. Are Naniwa whetstones suitable for sharpening wood chisels made of High quality hardened steel. And what kind of grit stones would you recommend to buy?
@@dontshavethepianist And I don't understand anything about whetstones at all. I only know that there are oil stones and water and you need to follow the gradation of the stone when sharpening.
@@BroniusK I looked up the specific company for the hardness rating of their tools and it is between 63-66 HRC (Rockwell). In most wood chisels the hardness is usually somewhere around 60 HRC, as a balance of hard and soft for trouble-free woodworking. The categories of sharpening stones are: Physical Synthetic Diamond stones Some stones work with water or oil. If an oiled stone is used, it should only be worked in this way. You quite rightly mentioned that they need graduated stones, but this is needed for synthetic stones. In natural stones, we achieve these gradations by creating pulp on their surface, and as this pulp thins, so does the gradation change, until we use it only with water or in some cases with oil. The grits you will need from what I saw at a glance for the chisels are 1000, 4000, 8000 grit. I didn't see them using more than 8000 grit. I sharpen straight razors which have the same hardness as the tools you use, so these particular stones do the job. I don't know the sharpening needs of someone who deals with these particular woodworking tools. On RU-vid you will find several videos on sharpening chisels from experienced users, who talk about the process in detail. They do stone comparisons and I believe you will have insight into the ideal choice in your purchases. If you are going to synthetic stones for this specific reason, I would suggest: Naniwa Professional Stones Shapton Glass Stones
@@dontshavethepianist Here in Lithuania, what I have seen in online stores is the well-known Japanese manufacturers Naniwa Super Stone and its economic variants, Suehiro New Cerex and King, and these are incomplete sets. And of course Chinese stones such as Samura and Taidea. And for the Shapton Glass Stones you mention that are not sold in Lithuania, I found its replacement only the Taidea Glass 1000 sharpening stone and its other gradations.
Καλοριζικες οι πέτρες..αν επιτρέπεται για τι κόστος μιλάμε για ένα τέτοιο πακέτο ? Με μια μικρή έρευνα κατάλαβα ότι είναι απαραίτητες κ οι συνθετικές αλλά όχι κινεζικές...
Σ' ευχαριστώ πολύ! Οι Naniwa Super Stones έχουν δύο τύπους, την S1 σειρά και την S2. Η διαφορά έχει να κάνει καθαρά με το πάχος της πέτρας, με την πρώτη να έχει 1cm πάχος και τη δεύτερη 2cm. Οι S1 βγαίνουν σαφώς φτηνότερες. Το κόστος του πακέτου για τις S2 ήταν 310€ χωρίς τα μεταφορικά. Για τις S1 ήταν σχεδόν 100€ χαμηλότερα. Για τις κινέζικες δεν έχω εικόνα, όποτε δεν μπορώ να έχω άποψη. Για το θέμα του απαραίτητου πάνω στις συνθετικές, αυτό σίγουρα έχει να κάνει με το τι βολεύει κι αρέσει στον καθένα. Η δουλειά μπορεί να γίνει σωστά είτε με συνθετικές, είτε με φυσικές, είτε και με συνδιασμό αυτών. Σίγουρα πρέπει να βρει κάποιος πως τον βολεύει να δουλεύει όλη τη διαδικασία της λεπίδας (στήσιμο bevel, λείανση και γυάλισμα), αλλά κυρίως να βρει την πέτρα τελειώματος που του προσφέρει ακριβώς αυτό που χρειάζεται και θέλει να έχει στην κόψη της λεπίδας του.
