I picked these up as well. They are super comfortable. The toe is more bulbous than the classic Parkhurst 602 or 602m, so I know Andrew will be working on that for the production run. The room in the toe box of the samples make them crazy comfy though while keeping the rest of the boot like a 602 so your foot is nice and locked in. I’m sure Andrew can slim the two toe down and keep them comfy. The other thing Andrew was less than happy with was the break on the Tempesti larger in the samples. I can see what he is not in love with, but it’s really not bad. I’m sure Tempesti can dial that in for the prediction run as well. All in all, I love these boots. The Stitchdown is very tight and close which is unique compared to the typical wider PNW stitchdown you see. 👍
Great review, I recently purchased the PH Allen boot in Dublin, my second pair of PH boots. I like the 602M last and the build. I wish the backstay\heel cup was a little more firm and a little better arch support. Overall a great boot.
I've got about 25 days of wear on mine so far. Looking forward to seeing how yours break in. The last fits very large for me. I went a full size down from my Brannock 10 to a size 9. Still experimenting with ways to take up the extra room. I had the same assessment of the leather. I noted that out of the box it felt like a waxy version of Amber Harness. The leather was firm at first but within the first wear or two softened up and has stayed that way. I was also skeptical of the leather laces at first. They were pretty stretchy and I was worried I would break them, but I ran with them anyway. Now I really like them and kinda want to try a pair of them in my GS boots since they are less chunky than their leather laces.
Those are nice looking boots and a veg tanned leather to boot. Just my little joke, but I’ve bought The Parkhurst brand before, good boots and am looking forward to your forthcoming review. Might be a switch from Viberg. Just maybe.
I love your reviews Teik, and those look like some sweet boots. I haven't ventured into Parkhurst yet, I've been too wrapped up buying all the 10D that Truman has :) Wear them in health! I think they could use a little more heel for the shape on foot but the profile lines (like at the sole near the ball of the foot) are really nice I think
Bulbous or not, the the boots look like it's in a really good width. My problem with fits is usually where the length of the boot is fine for my feet but the width is completely off and I would usually remedy that by stretching the leather somewhat with shoe trees until they feel comfortable to use. The tempesti leather looks absolutely pretty and the unlined shaft is a bonus. Looking at Parkhurst, I've to say the single backstay design is superior in my opinion, the only thing that keeps me off from Grant Stone's diesel boot all this time is their backstay design. On the leather laces, I've never used those flat looking leather laces before, how do they compare to the usually thicker rawhide laces?
Would love a pair of these or their normal boots, but it sounds like they dont plan to make size 13+ anymore so Im sadly SOL :( Hoping they change their minds on that one day.
