I am really happy to see older ladies playing games, especially as I get older myself and have long felt left out from the teen to 20-something year old crowd. I'm also excited waiting for RF5 to come out, because 4 so far is my favorite of all video games. :D
I am truly sorry about the poor light conditions in this video. I cut the video when it got too dark and we re-shot the very end of this rather epic Rune Factory history. Hope you can still enjoy it. My heart belongs very much to Rune Factory! ❤
First and foremost, I absolutely love your channel. Both my fiancee and I are diehard gamers that play everything. You remind me of her and when I get home I am going to share this channel with her. I watched your Vita memory card coverage earlier today and enjoyed it very much. At any rate, nice channel...upvoted and subbed! I'm curious, what is your favorite genre and console? My favorite genre's would be a toss up between FPS's and JRPG's. As far as consoles go...that's a tough one. The Saturn and PSX are huge for me as is the Xbox line of machines (I love Halo).
Holy moly... finally... finally... there's a lenghty discussion about this game on youtube. Seriously, Rune Factory series needs more recognition. I've been playing this game since it first came out and I love all of em. Love your video 👍
I simply adore videos that combine an unboxing of a videogame with the history of its franchise. It's perfect for people like me that want to consider a new series, plus you're really entertaining when you talk and it's a pleasure listening to you.
I mean, Stardew Valley isn't bad at all, but I honestly didn't enjoy it nearly as much after I had already experienced Rune Factory 4. Amazing and incredibly addicting game.
I played a ton of both games and I will say that Stardew is my favorite indie game of all time. Certainly it had the better soundtrack and the fact that it was entirely created by 1 person is even more impressive! I'll still play the heck out of Rune Factory 5 when it's out! ^_^
Oh my goodness, this was so wholesome and relaxing, but also fun and exciting to see someone from one of the older generations having a genuine love and enthusiasm for the Rune Factory series! Thank you for taking the time to make such a lovely video and for just being fun to listen to, it honestly felt like a reversal of when I talk to my grandma about the video games I love. ^_^
I absolutely loved Rune Factory 4. This is one of the rare series that just keeps getting better with every iteration (I haven't played 5 yet). If I remember right this game had not one, not two, but THREE ending credit scrawls for finishing the post-game and then the post-post game. The story motivation for finishing that final challenge was epic. I rarely do post-game content in RPGs anymore, but in that one I just had to see how it all turned out.
Rune Factory was a defining part of my childhood. Those games provided some much needed escape from the hardest parts of my life. Loved this retrospective.
my favorite series, sometimes i like to play hardcore and micromanage every second of it, other times i just say "im just gonna lay here and fish while listening to the nice music" the game never really hard punish you to it so its never a pain to play however you want; farm or dont farm, sleep for a year to lvl up your sleeping skill xD, you name it. im so happy that marvelous allowed for this seriea to continue and i cant wait to see and play rf5.
It’s awesome to see someone like you enjoying games! My mother is still asking me when I’m going to move on from games. Never! I’m going to be playing games forever!
I got RF4 on the switch as per your recommendation and it's kept me very busy while my family's been down with COVID -- in spite of us all being vaccinated! Such a great game. Where was this franchise all my life? I grew up obsessed with Animal Crossing (Wild World and City Folk particularly) and never got into any RPG-type games, was always too intimidated by them. I feel sad thinking that I have missed out on this type of gameplay until now and really wish that I was aware of RF sooner.. I am so looking forward to RF5! Thank you for bringing this series to my attention ❤❤
I am very happy to hear it (though less so about you all your family getting Covid 😔) and .. gosh, we're gonna have a party here when RF5 comes out! 😎 Please be sure to check the Community tab here once the release day arrives.
I've been playing it for 2 years on the 3DS I think and I married Vishnal yesterday :) I had trouble picking between Vishnal and Doug. For the girls, I love Margaret the most. RF4 is def one of the best RPGs to ever exist
Timestamp 15:40 The "No - Right!" message is obviously wrong there. It's not in that spot in my original video. I can only think that RU-vid did something strange there in their "processing". Please ignore it. It pops up later in the correct spot.
I have no idea how this got in my recommendations but It's great. I'm a pretty big fan of the series, and I don't even have all the games. Great rundown on the history and great review
I have just purchased Rune Factory 4 on the PS4, it’s the first one I have played so am excited to get in to it. I love this mini history lesson, your passion for the series is evident in the way you talk about it. A pleasure to listen to you.
Right? Of course you can probably read most of it elsewhere, but the way she presents the information and the whole stories they seem to be way more memorable. Faster isn't always better.
I love the history and info you share about the games! You were the only channel that told me about time management in the earlier Atelier games. I love Rune Factory 4 but only just stumbled across it recently and didn’t know much about it, until now! I also love that you represent older people playing games. It’s inspiring and freeing to see older people playing and not just an occasional mobile game. Im getting up there myself and I often felt guilty a bit when I game thinking that I should be doing something more “adult" with my time, but everyone needs a release and fun and video games are an awesome outlet for that. Besides, if you grew up gaming, most people keep on gaming so I expect to see a lot of older folks gaming as the current generations of gamers age. It’s also so helpful to see you playing so many different types of games, makes me want to revisit some games I thought might be a bit hard lol. I hope as I get older I am still gaming and able to enjoy all the things I do now. I don’t plan to sit idly by quietly organizing my pill box or or whatever younger people think older people do in their spare time. Also, I love your collection! Makes my son look like a noob haha.
I aspire to be you when I grow up: still being able to talk about Rune Factory with whomever I want! Hopefully people in my family that would take interest! Right now, it isn't like that with my parents/extended family or even my friends, but I bet I'd be talking about my love for RF and Harvest Moon games with my kids and stuff. I'm so happy to see fans of this franchise, who are extremely diverse in age and in EVERYTHING. It makes me so happy and gives me hope too. :) Seeing you so happy about it brings a smile to my face.
I love in-depth videos like this that dive-in on a specific series. Harvest Moon/Rune Factory has always been a bit intimidating to me because of the relatively short day-cycle, but I think this video has convinced me to give it a try, starting with RF4 on the 3DS. Would love to see more videos like this on different series you enjoy.
I had no idea Rune factory 5 was in the making, I'm so EXCITED right now, on top of that there's also Atelier Ryza 2 in the making and Sakuna of Rice and Ruin.
Rune Factory 4 is by far one of my most favorite games! I was mulling over getting the switch version, but I probably should to support this amazing company. I am beyond excited for RF5! Thanks so much for this unboxing! You're an absolutely wonderful woman, and I loved this video so much! 🥰
In Stardew valley I find myself in the mines a bit too much. My wish for a more rpg farming game it seems came true a long time ago. Ive never heard of these games and I've been playing RPGs since I was 8 lol. Keep up the amazing work.
@@Food4Dogs Yes I have a Switch! I also got a New3DS along the way and most of my games were physical, so I only lost my digital games in the end (which were 2 or 3 games, RF4 among them).
22:43 I'm pretty sure the Floating Whale Island is from Frontier. Rune Factory games are so nice! A blend of farming simulators + action RPGs + dating sims that works so well and is so captivating that it's a shame that the series is so unknown. Each aspect itself is simple in execution, but they work together to create a constant sense of progression, and it all tops off with very well written and likeable characters. 4 is probably the one with the most improvements done to the gameplay, but I think I prefer Frontier for the atmosphere. And yeah, I also ditched the Wii Remote + Nunchuk when I had the chance. I feel like it plays much better with a Classic Controller. I'm also very excited for RF5, I wasn't expecting it being announced at all! Also, I hope it has the option to turn on the original voices, I think none of the other titles has it. Not that I think the dubs for the RF games are bad, I just prefer listening to the original while reading in a language I can fully understand. It's a shame having to rely on modded software to get that option.
Yep, you're right - I got that muddled, the floating whale is from Frontier. In RF Oceans I think they travel on Ymir .. who can also swim/float? I'm honestly surprised & amazed that so many Rune Factory fans out there found their way here. I really appreciate it. 😀
i just stumbled onto your channel randomly and this has made my entire week. I don't know why but seeing how much you enjoy some of the same franchises as me in terms of games and books etc really just gives me joy. Thanks for making the content you are making
Thank you for another awesome unboxing! Don’t worry about the light! Took a little while getting used to control and the flow of the game, but now I’m feeling comfortable and it’s becoming a lot of fun! First Rune Factory! Always meant to play it.
Hello, I just got this video randomly suggested and I'm so Happy! Rune Factory is one of my favorite sagas (i played each one to the fullest) and hearing someone talk about it loving It the same way I do makes me Happy. Thank you!
Oooh, those work around with the UI are nice! I always loved examining and hearing about UI and UX design. The DS and 3DS are cool with how the unique form factor allows you to get really creative with UI, with the limitation of DS resolution meaning the designer have to think even further with what they use each screens for. Seeing it ported to Switch functionaly like this is nice. It might seem small to a lot of people but UI and UX are one those things that are easy to get wrong and when done well you don't even notice it, so it is also one of the things that shows how much care the devs have to make sure they got things right.
Another wonderful video! I have this set myself and the artbook really blew me away, it was so comprehensive and such high quality! I hope that they also release a nice collector's edition when Rune Factory 5 comes out.
I hope so too. That would be wonderful. I have a feeling it will be the last RF ever so I'm hoping they do something spectacular with it. And that book for 4 was amazing. I was lucky to get it.
Rune Factory 2 was my first in the series and I've been hooked ever since! You've convinced me to buy the Special Archival Edition purely for the artbook that it comes with. I love your thorough explanations and gentle care with unboxing ✨
I'm only finding this video now! It's wonderful and heart warming to listen to another fan. The history of Rune Factory was really great to hear too, since I only discovered the series with the release of Rune Factory 4 and since have only had the opportunity to play Tides of Destiny. I'm going to subscribe and I look forward to you, hopefully, giving your take on Rune Factory 5 when it releases as well! 😊😊
RU-vid recommended me your channel a few videos ago and my heart is still melting. I recently got into Harvest Moon and I love fantasy games so thank you for that informative and really enjoyable video! :)
Thank you for showing the art book and music goodies! I ended up just getting the game itself rather than the deluxe edition, but I’m really excited for RF5! :)
This video convinced me to give this series a try. I'm a long time fan of Harvest Moon, so I'm sure I will enjoy. This was a very compelling video and informative.
This was so wholesome and informative. I need more of this content in my life. It's also very excited to see people of all ages enjoy Rune Factory. Rune Factory 4 is my very first Rune Factory game, but I plan on trying all of them as time goes on.
such a well-made and informative video. it makes me so happy to see others talking about rune factory the way i do, i'm so glad i found this on my recommended 💖
I just want to say how much I have fallen in love with your videos. Watching your most recent channel update and I want to say thank you for being such a wonderful corner of the internet.
I just stumbled across your channel and I already feel right at home since you’ve discussed some of my favorite games across different platforms. Stay safe, and thanks for all the content you’ve made. Best wishes from México City!
I got to play the first Rune Factory and loved it. I didn't have the game system for the RF2 and RF3, so I never got fully understand when the mentioned them in RF4. I had to read/watch my Rune Factory history via internet. I got to play RF4 when my friend gave me his only nintendo 3DS and I fell in love and then they came out with the special last year I almost cried in happiness. This game is the best! Edited: Ah, I forgot the reason I wanted to comment! I want to thank you for sharing this informative and entertaining video about (in my opinion) one of the greatest game ever!
I adore the Rune Factory series and I spent over 200 hours in the 3DS version of Rune Factory 4. I was so excited when I heard about the Switch re-release!
Rune Factory: Frontier is probably my favorite JRPG. I miss it dearly, unfortunately, don't own it or a system to play it on anymore. Rune Factory 4 (the 3DS version, at least) was super fun, might pick up the switch version to revisit it. Gosh, what I'd do for a rerelease of Frontier.
Hi Jake, appreciate the sub. Yea, poor old Frontier .. stranded on the Wii. The graphics still stand up well today, I think - it really shouldn't be a huge job to remaster and port it to Switch. Let's keep hoping. But I understand that the developers are focused on RF5 and that's a good thing.
You are the one of the coolest people of the internet. Watching this, inspires me to never let myself be pressured into giving up my passions as I get older. Great video! 💜
Big fan of Rune Factory here, also have them all, and I'm now big fan of you, been loving and enjoying your vids, thank you so much for sharing with us!
Amazing video! Currrently on my first time rune factory oceans playthrough. Also you did some serious research here, great job, I should step up my game as a jrpg fan!
I first played the first Rune Factory on my DS Lite. I later bought Rune Factory 4 on 3DS and now I'm about to do an impulsive buy for the archive edition; I don't even own a Switch yet.
How wonderful to find another older gamer who also loves and enjoys the same games I do. I first became a fan of Harvest Moon when I found a copy of Harvest Moon 64. What a wonderful game that was. I was hooked, lol. I have since collected every HM game I could find in my city. I have nearly all games but stopped collecting after the break up with Natsume. I have a couple of their games but stopped getting them because they just weren't as good as the originals. Now as Story of Seasons I've continued my collection up to Doraemon Story of Seasons which I'm loving. Beautiful art and wonderful game. I recommend it. I fell in love with Rune Factory when it first came out and have collected all the games. The first is still my favorite followed by Fronteirs. I've actually logged in over 5,000 hours on the Fronteirs game. I was suprised when I saw your copy of the first RF game as I had no idea the cover was different. Mine is N.America release and shows house in background. I'd love to get a copy of European release just for the different art. And yes, Tides of Destiny came out for the Wii over here but I had no idea it was out on PS3 over there or that it was called Oceans. Nice. I also agree with you About the manuals. Those are something I miss in games and the ones for Rune Factory were always best quality. It's nice that they still come with those. I was lucky to get the offal strategy guides for the first 2 games as well. Wonderfully done just like the manuals. I also got the boxed set of RF4 and was very happy with the art book as well. Truly a collector item for any fan. Was so happy with it. Rune Factory was always a game of the highest quality. From game story and amazing art to the music as well. I, along with many others, look forward to RF5. Thank you for your video. It was great. Also very interesting to see different versions of these games.
I am so so happy this showed up in my recommended. Rune Factory Frontier was one of my favorite games ten years ago! I wanted them to come out with a girl version like they would do with Harvest Moon sooo bad
I was more familiar with Harvest Moon (I'd only played Tides of Destiny for PS3), but I recently picked up 4 for my birthday and I've been hooked. I'm really excited for 5 to come out!
Thanks so much for this Rune factory history lesson, I've just discovered your channel and this was was a fantastic video. You've actually convinced me to give the franchise a try!
Really happy to see this type of content. I just subscribed and I think that you do lovely videos talking about RPGs. I have been considering to start in this saga but I wasn't entirely convinced until I saw your video
Wow I have never picked up a Rune Factory game before but hearing you talk about them makes me want to pick up the one for the switch! Especially if it has a good soundtrack. Gotta love a good OST!
Hi! I just wanted to quickly say how much I enjoy your videos, I do love video games but honestly, I found your video “ how I got into gaming” a few weeks ago and I have been watching you since while I do my art, I really enjoy listening to you and how you describe the games. makes me want to play them! Im planning on getting an Atelier game soon! Thank you for taking the time to make videos and I wish you well 💙
I found your channel through the attention you got recently on twitter and I love your content! I watched some of your videos today and then stumbled upon this one. I'm always super happy to see people talk about Rune Factory because it's one of my favorite game franchises ever. I've recently started to play Rune Factory 1 again, especially because I read lots of negativity about it but I think it might still be my 2nd favorite out of all of them, 3 being my absolute favorite. The resurrection of the franchise is probably one of the happiest moments I had last year. Seeing the announcement for RF4Special on Switch and my mind going "wait.. if we get RF4.. then maybe..?" and then we actually got the announcement for RF5, it just made me cry tears of happiness. I definitely have to get the Archival edition too, as someone from Germany I also sadly wasn't able to get a physical version of RF4. I'm really glad that I found your channel. It's fun, about games I love and calm. I don't like that so many gaming channels are loud and almost constantly screaming so finding you was a nice change. :)
Just want to say I love that you're making videos! I got this as a birthday gift a couple months ago and have been waiting to play it. :) I think it's a wonderful and well put-together product! The book that comes with it is super nice too. I hope to be a jrpg historian when I'm older like you. :D
This is a very informative and nice video. So glad you have given a history of the franchise, it is a really nice game. You are super cool! Hope you could give a review of other games as well. Thank you Gaming Grandma! 🥰
