You said that the relationship between the craftsman and the customer is the most important part but the least spoken about. I absolutely agree. I have been researching bespoke for two years now and have read and watched countless articles and videos but never have I heard someone exemplify the importance of that relationship. You are the first to even speak of its importance from what I’ve seen. Thank you for making me realize that as I now look at bespoke in a different and even better way than I used to
Thank you for commenting! Yes - I often find that people focus far too much on the actual product and not the journey / relationship. To me, at least, it is almost more important.
Kirby Allison i couldn’t agree more. Why do you think that is? Surly when it comes to Michelin Starr restaurants and fine dining, the biggest part is the experience, not the food even though it is almost perfect as well. Why is it that when it comes to tailoring, people forget about that importance?
If you had $5000 to begin building your wardrobe from scratch, how would you go about it? What garments would you buy and in what quantity? Shoes etc. Thanks!
My ultimate “goal shoe” is a Chukka boot in Russian Calf. You are so right about George Glasgow and the Savile Row guys being a friendly bunch. Once you’ve been in one tailoring house you realise there’s nothing intimidating or snooty about them. They love letting you try on a couple of the coats being made (if they have your size) and enjoy putting you at ease and answering questions. Love this channel!
For me, Alden is the highest quality RTW shoe I have found. American made, goodyear welted, incredibly high quality calfskins and cordovans in classic styling. And the lasts and widths available in all standard sizes is fantastic. I have yet to find a better shoe for less than $1000.
Your tie today is rather nice where did you obtain it? Unlike your “rivals”,you present real quality without condescension Thankyou and please continue with more of the same
How do you feel about vintage shoes/suits/etc.? Im a 16 year old from ohio and i dont have alot of money, so ive grown to be savy at tailoring my own garments and rejuvenating shoes.
I like your suit in this video. I recently meet with Divij for a fitting. I am having made a bespoke suit of a summer weight wool of a similar texture / color to the suit you are wearing. I really look forward to the result!
I don't think I've seen you do anything with John Lobb London, is there a reason for this or is it just happenstance that you have been tp most other London bespoke and RTW shoemakers but not JL?
Cleander Yu Well, John Lobb is very protective of their brand and reputation, so they do not allow that many people in.... but I can say, with excitement, that we were allowed to film there and with the family for an entire day when we were in London last time!! We’re working on the piece, which will be our capstone of our time in London, now and hope to have it out in September!!
Kirby!! I Absolutely love your videos, However if I could provide one piece of criticism it would be that I think you’re often very repetitive in the overuse of your slogan
Kirby, what sets your channel apart from other menswear enthusiasts is the deep respect you have for the craftsmen behind the product. It's easy to praise the product, but the effort you make to know and honor the craftsmen is exceptional.
Thanks, Don! For me, I have always been more drawn towards the personal relationships than consumerism. I have tremendous respect for people that dedicate their lives to craft!!
@@kirbyallison Thanks Kirby looking forward to it. Will you be at the Project Show in NYC this month? I'm the head designer for the Men's Collection at Trask and we will be showing our collection at our booth #737, stop by if you can.
Kirby. As it relates to shoes, I think the Anthony Cleverly "Lopez" is a very elegant shoe. Combines the side elastic with the mock laces. I have it in burgundy.
Kirby, how about exploring offerings in different US cities? For example, I'm in Boston but I'm probably unaware of establishments that offer the products and services you feature.
Hello Kirby, I’m saving up for a next large purchase. I’m debating between a pair of leather loafers and a brand new grey suit, which I don’t own yet. Where do I put my money first? I already own a few suits, blues included and I already own a couple oxfords both in black and chestnut. I just don’t know what is my best next purchase. Thank you
