Those are superb. The lack of dust protection or some mesh to catch stray hairs between the driver and the big holed metal mesh of the ear cups makes me really nervous however. You think hair could pierce those drivers?

its a great headphone. i tried it out at an authorized distributor in my country with a DAP. it is easy too drive and sounds excellent

It's really heartening to see amazing products come from somewhere other than the US, UK, Japan, Korea and China. It shows that you don't have to be in one of the big countries to create something really special.

Curse you Amos ! Since I watched this video for the first time I bought a Hugo 2 and today I bought an Empyrean ! Though I did get good deals for both : 1330€ Shipping included for the 2nd hand Hugo 2500€ Shipping included for the NEW !! Empyrean Damn that's still 3830€ oh well better than if I had paid the asking prices at a total of 5400€ ain't it ;)

Animaster 2450€ after bargain with Heiko Boss owner of Audition6.de and official distributor. Had to pay 50€ for insured shipping.

Chord fanboys is worst they think Rob Watts is god when in reality only expensive part in their dacs is Chip itself rest is mediocre and made for maximum profit. Good luck!

Actually that pattern is more to my mind like the geometric designs you see in Muslim mosques and not gothic?

I'd not thought of that. I should ask them where they got inspiration for the pattern from. Gothic didn't feel like the right word, but church windows did come to mind. You've got me curious now, thanks for that.

The warranty on these is extremely poor. One year from an authorised new purchase. Cant be resold or you void the warranty. Does not inspire confidence at all nor does it make a wise investment decision. Many enthusiasts want to be able to trade/sell their cans for the next best thing.

Good point. Looks like they have a general warranty for all products which they may not have reconsidered for the Empyrean. I've emailed them about it and asked for a longer warranty and warranty transfer for the Empyrean.

I checked with Meze and the warranty is 2 years. I'll post another comment when I get a reply about warranty transfer.

Update 2: They told me that they will honor the warranty if the original documentation is kept by the buyer (and I assume, if originally purchased from an authorised dealer).
