This is pretty much how every manufacturer packages their product. I like it because it’s very durable.

If I’m spending $400-$500 dollars on a locomotive, it better come in good sturdy packaging that will protect it. Also, anyone that just throws that stuff away is dumb. You kind of need it anytime you want to take the locomotive anywhere

@@calebg844 The outer rectangular "tube" seems a bit redundant but, as you say, the point is to protect the fragile model. In the grand scheme of things, very few of these models are sold and there are many, many more important places to work on reducing plastics use. If we are going to complain about pointless plastic in this one, I'd go with the pin. I can't imagine anybody using that, so I'd just remove it and its little baggie. But, again, zero difference in the grand scheme of things.
