They're doing great. Done a couple of hundred miles so far on various road conditions and they've not missed a beat. They only weigh 1551g for the pair and they spin up much faster than my old Easton EA50s.
Hello mate, I bought my wheels just before the Chinese manufacturers were introducing raised ceramic/basalt brake tracks on their carbon wheels. To prevent heat build-up issues leading to tyre blow-outs, they resorted to lowering the brake track away from the very edge of the rim, as shown on my wheels. I'm using Shimano 105 calipers, but the adjustment on them is maxed to the limit.
I have no idea. I don't think it would, as the compatibility of the freehub body body states 9-10spd, with no mention of 8spd. Good excuse to upgrade though as 9spd. 4500 Tiagra is dirt cheap now that the 10spd. version has come out.
The front is a CC Plus-38C and the rear is a CC Plus-50C. Total cost including delivery to the UK was under £320 at the exchange rate at the time. I've since ridden on them a few times and I'm really happy with them.
hello again, that good. I am really impressed with em myself. Just purchased a 50mm for the front which should arrive next week. You should have gone for the 60mm n 50mm. Hope you have lots o good rides on those. Thanks again
If I recall correctly, the total cost was around £300 including shipping, but their prices have recently gone up as they now seem to have a better braking surface and a wider construction. Google for 'yishunbike'. Other trustworthy vendors are Deng Fu and Farsport.
hello I picked up mine couple o weeks ago from 2011cycling2011 ebayer. An 88mm track rear. Fantastic quality, with carbon pads. I really don't think your's look right tho. The brake run part should sit slightly raised and right from the edge, and not like your's. Reckon you'll have trouble with short calipers. Let me know how you get on. I picked up Easton decs too. It's only for my Trackie, my road bike has genuine Cosmics carbons.
Hi , how is it going so far? Any broken spoke? I heard that those wheels need adjusments every 75 miles aprox. What can you tell in your experience? Thanks
Could you confirm the website you used please? There seem to be a few yishun bike sites now and want to make sure I'm ordering from the right one. Are you still happy with your wheels? The hubs sound very similar to those used by planet x
This one: www.shop-yishunbike.com/ Still very happy with my wheels. Fitted them back on for the summer season a month ago and they've not missed a beat.
I have over 6,ooo miles on the exact same set of wheels from OXIVECARBON. These wheels perform awesome. Very true out of the box. You'd be hard-pressed to identify a discernable difference in these and 3k wheelsets. My only complaint is a very loud free hub. These hubs have three large pawls as opposed to six I see on more expensive sets. I was able to quiet them some by disassembling and adding lube. Really my only complaint. ON the plus side, with just over a thousand miles on the set my backwheel dropped into a sewer grate while hauling ass and I was certain the wheel would be smoked, huge WHAACK. Aside from two 1/16" chips, the wheels were fine. I have inspected the chips endlessly and no cracks have resulted. Keep in mind I have put 5,000 miles on this set since the mishap, 5,000 HARD miles. At this price, these wheels are a NO-BRAINER. These are not counterfeit wheels, they are an asian product that doesn't claim to be anything than what they are
I'm really glad that your wheels are doing you such great service! However, while they did offer good value, in no way would I have said that they're the equal as any £3k wheelset. The lack of braking in wet conditions especially, was absolutely terrifying!
My front one was jacked up out of the box and unusable. Huge bump in the carbon, it wasn't out of true...4 months later I'm still working on the exchange...
Update: the wheels are still going strong and working perfectly as my main wheels. I did a century ride on them a few weeks ago, which included three miles of a rocky MTB trail (don't ask) and they were flawless. The lack of braking power is beginning to slightly irritate me though.
