Great comparison. I also got myself fake Radar EV Path glasses. The name Oakley was nowhere to be found in the ad. I expected them to only resemble the real deal, so I was surprised by how close the fake is to the original in terms of outer looks. My mirrored lenses have the same deep blue tint you mentioned and I doubt I will use them. I got photochromic lenses, but their material is irregular/inhomogeneous enough that putting them on makes me feel as if I had a vision problem. I would say it is not worth paying the extra few $$ for those. The dark polarized, orange, yellow and clear lenses all seem to do their job fine and for the price I still find them worth the little $$ whole thing costed.
Honestly I’ve seen Awsome fakes before. U have to really look at them next to an authentic pair and certain details just are not as sharp. But other than that u wouldn’t know. If u wear them a lot compared to authentic u will notice the lenses and images are better with real Oakleys.
I just got a Padrone and installed it on my GT Aggressor Pro. Took me a whole afternoon of screwing around before I found out about the 5mm distance business. How could you possibly get it that close? I measured the distance at about 51 mm! If I mount it way down on the fork and screw around with a few other things I may be able to get it within 38 mm at best. This is ridiculous...they need to tell you about this before you buy it! I'm going to try the more powerful magnets people are mentioning, and maybe also jerry-rigging the sensor positioning with several layers of foam tape...we'll see what happens. Sure would be nice if the damn thing worked right out of the box...
Thank you for your video. I ordered on Amazon several sized strong earth magnets, ended up using 10mm x 3mm. Wow what a difference. That was a great fix.
Sorry to take so long to respond. I do make a lot of comments on Amazon but rarely do I communicate back and forth with anybody. Just a recap. I use a CatEye Quick CC-RS100W cycling computer. It uses a spoke magnet for the speed sensor. The distance/placement between magnet and sensor is recommended to be 5mm or 3/16 which worked (it seemed it had to be a little closer). Mike Posh’s RU-vid video suggested adding an additional magnet to create more distance between magnet and sensor. I bought the Nazzo Small magnets, Rare Earth, Super Strong Neodymium magnet set from amazon. I used the 10mm by 3mm magnet on top of the CatEye magnet and the distance went from 5mm (3/16) to 20.65mm (13/16). Really nice difference. Thankyou Mike again for your video Lee
Fake oakleys have funky Glare and hurt my eyes........VS my Real ones, never have this problem.........I can switch back and forth randomly and ALWAYS tell the difference every time.
The absolute best way to mount this computer sensor is to use silicone sealant to glue it to the inside of the fork, at precisely the right spot. You will need to apply silicone to the battery door side, so put in a fresh battery. Position with masking tape and use just a few dabs of silicone. It is flexible and removable and won't harm paint. You can also purchase very thin flat magnets that are not much wider than the spoke and epoxy these to the spoke so that it comes within 2mm of the sensor target area. Once these two items are glued in place, you never have to fiddle with the sensor again and there's no risk of it coming in contact with the spokes. I've used this method for over 10 years and only have to change the sensor magnet once every 3-5 years. If you are using the stock magnet, position it so that the forward motion of the wheel will straighten it out (i.e., with magnet trailing the spoke).
I got 2 pairs of the essence outdoor copy's. Don't have the Oakley branding but come with 5 lenses. Way better quality than the Oakley copies. If anyone is gonna get some try those. 👌😊
No... with my cateye velo wireless, you need to be no more than 70cm from the receiver. Also, the bike computer unit must be parallel (not in angle) because the receiver is right under.
I have to say this. I have a " real " pair and I just bought a " fake " pair. I can say with almost absolute certainty that their is really no difference! They are basically exactly the same. The only difference I notice is the nose piece is a little looser. Meaning when I change lenses it doesn't snap in as hard but that is no big deal. And the lenses are exactly the same. I didn't believe it until I bought these off dhgate! Don't get scammed do your research!
@@rhys6685 but the thing is your comparing to different style of glasses. You can't compare ev's to jawbreakers or vice versa. You have to compare jawbreakers to jawbreakers which I have and like I said they are exactly the same and same with the lenses.
@@rhys6685 and on top of this dhgate and aliexpress sell 3 dollar ones and 30 dollars ones. If you go with the 30 dollar ones those are the authentic ones not the 3 dollar ones. Plus they are all manufactured in China anyway but the " real " ones are sold in USA, CANADA etc..... lol!
@@94SexyStang Fake lenses? No such thing. They are all the same. Just some are thicker and some are thinner. If your getting a headache that has nothing to do with the lenses but everything to do with your health. I've never had an issue with this or anything from alixpress. Almost everything is made in China.
I just bought a pair of Radar EV knockoffs from my local gas station and they are just as good as the genuine article minus the 300.00 expense, and I saved 245.00.
Thanks a lot. The magnet trick worked fantastic. I re read those instructions looking for any clue and 5 minutes of searching on RU-vid solved the problem. Thanks again.
People like you make RU-vid a better place. Thanks for going the extra mile to experiment & improve the process. This is also a great site to try different magnets: www.kjmagnetics.com/
Any reason why it shows me correct speed, then it suddently drops from 20km/h to 6km/h then goes back up to 20km/h?? even though i'm still going 20km/h?
I had problems with an Aldi wireless computer and tried this magnet idea and it works perfectly. Bought one from the following link for £1.98: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10x5-mm-N52-Neodymium-Disc-Magnet-10mm-dia-x-5mm-DIY-Craft/322188031580?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=511094550708&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Thanks for the idea!
Brilliant, mate! The damn thing should come with those magnets - solves several of the endless problems with it. I wonder if adding a whole 'nother spoke magnet might help, too. For the record, all 99% of bikers need is the old Huret Multito we ran 30 years ago. Cheap, dependable, mechanical, instals in 10 minutes and you never think about it again. Gives you trip and total mileage. AKA the info you need and can't get elsewhere. But, of course, you can't buy those anymore. (Too practical. Not expensive enough.) So, in the meantime, I appreciate your hack. Now back to swearing instead of riding...
I've seen 2 different channels doing these videos, and both forget to discuss the fake oakleys having the reproduction of the rubber on the earpiece failing. The fake "unobtainium" is the weak point, and not discussed. The real Oakleys certainly brag about the "unobtainium" rubber on contact points. Reviews glazing over, actually omitting altogether, that point is a fucking joke. No, I don't think the real ones are worth 200 dollars No, I don't thing the fakes are just as good
Do your homework bro. There is no such thing as fake or Genuine Oakleys they are all made by Luxottica Ray Bans too. The entire sunglass and reading glasses industry all eyewear is a scam and a sham everything is made by Luxottica from Italy. All the big franchises Oakley stores Sunglass Hut and LensCrafters is all Luxottica. This is the only reason why sunglasses cost hundreds of dollars. It's because Luxottica can charge whatever they want they hold the Monopoly.
In my Mag sensor the sensitive spot is in one corner and not in the middle where you Mount it. I also Think that it is Better to Mount the magnet where the speed relative to the sensor is large.
Dennis Kwok i bought a fake Oakley myself and after riding for hours my eye felt like I could not see for abt good 1 hr or so and my depth perception was shot for atleast additional couple of hours. I still have the fake oakley but this time I will buy the lens and replace it...😊
I paid about 50$ American from a better dealer than Alibaba... Anyways, anecdotal personal experience can be a strong emperical evidence when everything I am saying is true. And i am saying it for the benifit of others
Just because you paid over the odds from a claimed 'better dealer', is no reason at all to say that your replicas were of a decent quality. As for your anecdotal evidence, it seems to run completely contrary to the personal findings of the vast majority of people. Your fakes must have been seriously rubbish, to result in the issues you claim to have experienced. As decent poly-carbonate lenses with are piss easy and super cheap to make.
I feel sorry for you, that your life is so meaningless and boring that you really have nothing better to do than to count how many times I say a filler. Get a life, you poor, sad fuck.
