I expected this to be garbage but it was way better than it had any right to be. I had a blast, I think there’s grounds for a good to great sequel if they play their cards right. Tom is a charismatic lead and put an impressive amount of work into the stunts. Plus, it made bank, so to the studio it paid off 😭

The final setpiece is a ridiculous, fun idea. Something that could totally be in an Uncharted game. Hopping between multiple ships being carried by helicopters lol

When you realize this is Nathan Drakes origin story and his first real adventure it does allow for a more enjoyable watch. It also showcases that Tom Holland can do action movies. I hope he keeps making good movies and becomes of the great action heroes of this generation.

From the perspective of someone who’s never played the game, I had a fun time watching the movie. Was I on the edge of my seat, no. But I didn’t reach for my phone more than once or twice while watching haha!

its crazy how we view action today and CGI, like if this movie came out 20 years ago people would be losing their shit at how real the action looks. makes me wonder how in 20 years times people will point out "bad" CGI which would look unbelievable to us today

The Uncharted movie needs an extended cut. It seems that they cut about 20-30 mins of unreleased deleted scenes that would have improved the bonding between characters, such as Nate/Chloe's romance and Nate/Sully's friendship. Please help to make this happen.

This movie was actually good. Bizarre adaptation but so much fun on its own. The dialogue, banter, and action were pretty great

I honestly really liked this movie. I thought Tom did great as young Nate Drake, and the action sequences all definitely felt very Uncharted. I think the biggest downfall was Mark Whalberg as Sully. But I think the actress for Chloe did a great job too. And I like that they started the series with Nate and Chloe's relationship, since in the games they had a history before Elena

I went into this with 0 expectations due to how bad I thought he casting was. It was way better than I thought it could be. Still not crazy about the casting, but it captured a lot of the Uncharted feel.

I’d say they got a lot of stuff right about this movie honestly, loved when the actual uncharted music started playing

I just watched it as a treasure hunt movie and I had a blast. Cool action, funny dialogue and a fun to follow set of clues.

I enjoyed it for what it was, and I appreciate it had a genuine "didn't see that coming" moment (Braddock betraying Banderas - forgotten the character name), which is rare. I may have enjoyed it more for not having played Uncharted (was an Xbox person for that entire era, probably would have had I had access).

I went to see this movie thinking nothing of it, I’ve obviously played the games but I actually really really enjoyed it, some good action, good visuals and you cannot beat Tom Holland I can also confirm that we Scot’s do not all sound like that

I never played any Uncharted games so I went in with no expectations. I had such a blast the first time I watched it that I watched it a second time. A really enjoyable movie with an amazing cast. I think the reason I enjoyed the movie so much is because I haven't watched an adventure movie in a very long time.

The stunts were really good. Some great falls

Some people can enjoy a fun movie like this, others want it to be a perfect representation of Uncharted or else they boycott it because obviously this is not what they wanted even if there are bits they liked. I see RU-vid videos about this movie like "This movie is HORRIBLE", "Anatomy of a FAILURE" and it's like... dude, calm down. It's not even close to that level of bad.

Finally watched the movie recently, and really enjoyed it. I hope for more.

You guys should watch Tomb Raider 2018! I always heard terrible things about it, but I watched it for myself recently and I actually enjoyed it more than a lot of other video game movies...

I'm a huge fan of the games and I really liked the movie. It was fun and, isn't that what it's supposed to be? I agree on most what you said about Mark Wahlberg as Sully, in the after credit scene though, I think he really looked a lot more like the original one.

Uhhh ok randomly thought that I’d love to see the boys watch “A Series of Unfortunate Events” I feel like it’s a very in depth show and has a lot to talk about with the mysteries and what not. Similar to gravity falls in a sense where there’s a lot of room for speculation in between episodes. It’s one of my all time favorite shows and hopefully they might watch it all together one day.😀👍

Zero chemistry between Wahlberg and Holland. Saw them together in Graham Norton show, a drunk Wahlberg giving life lessons to Holland 🙈

i don't play any games, but i love adventure films so i had a lot of fun watching this in cinema. however as a historian, i legit cried when they destroyed the ships! that said, i will happily watch other films if this becomes a franchise.

Honestly I've only seen a playthrough of Uncharted 4 so...those are the plot point lifts/inspirations that I recognize. Namely the auction bit, with the cross, but also the pirate ship in a cave. Minus the flying.

i was surprised how good this movie was

My roomate and I watched this movie one night, and we could not stop laughing at the climactic scene with the flying ships. That shit was so random and like nothing prepared me to see these giant ass ships just casually being flown around.

Meow, I watched it last night so I could watch this reaction lol. Having never played the games, but being a fan of both Tom & Marky Mark, I had soooo much fun with this movie. Also made me want to rewatch "Three Kings". Child of the 80s here so I'm still waiting for "Good Vibrations" and/or a CK ad to feature in a Mark Wahlberg movie lol

Never played the games, so definitely missed out on any added value from seeing characters / moments from the games adapted to the big screen. But my big take away was that the leads just didn't have enough chemistry to quite pull off the 'clenched-teeth teamwork' vibe they needed at the core of it to carry the movie. Liked the choreography and Tom Holland's stunt-work and performance overall, though.

i am a big fan of the games and even though continuity wise not everything matched up it was still a fun movie.

I had no expectations ahead of this movie but I had a great time with it. It was a breath of fresh air to suspend belief and watch something so silly but fun. I’m invested for the sequel

39:52 Totally breaks canon. We see how Nate meets Sully in Uncharted 3, and there's a tie in comic to the games that already showed how Nate met Chloe. So film is definetly not canon

Probably the one complaint i see the most will never get is, is people saying should have been Nathan Fillion. This was a VERY young Nate. Thats what the story is about. Fillion is 50, and looks it. He may be the perfect cast for an adult Nathan Drake in a later sequel, but he'd be a massive miscast for this film

The end was really interesting

I described this movie as Goonies with guns.

For me this didn't capture the spirit of Uncharted which has more of a wholesmome, sweeping, swashbuckling vibe. If it was a National Treasure reboot and Whalberg was replaced with Nic Cage I would have liked it a lot more.

The fact that Nathan also looks younger makes a younger looking sully makes more sense

I haven't played or heard of uncharted until watching this movie, and I really enjoyed it, and after watching this reaction video I now know where it came from, I thinks a great prequel to the series and they are definitely going for a younger look there, but still, Sully should have a polo shirt or something, something a bit more dignified and speaks a bit more "old" into the whole asthettic and vibe

The fight on the ship near the end of the movie was so disorienting I eventually couldn’t follow what was happening when I saw this at my local cinema

Some people say the movie wasn't close enough to the video games or something but I still liked it :)

THE BEST PART OF THE ENTIRE MOVIE is the SHIP FIGHT SCENE.. that was epic action

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie. Yeah, they changed Nathan & Sullys history and Sully didn't have the iconic moustache... but it still had enough in it to feel like it was Uncharted for me.

Got to love the level of pickpocketing in this. Walk within 20 feet of someone and all of a sudden your chest of drawers is gone.

I enjoyed it, even though it ended like The Goonies. The ship gets away, not before they get a handful of treasure.

it’s sad because this had the potential to be an absolutely fantastic adventure film. Literally follow the template of the original game, it’s a great adventure. Another example of Hollywood looking down on game industry creatives and thinking they can do better. Feels manufactured.

Just watched the movie and was wondering if anyone else thought it was weird that they didn't just drop the first boat. And then follow Nate & Sully in the helicopter w/o any addtl weight.

I loved this movie..only played the 4th one..BUT all my friends who have played the entir series and way bigger fans than me hated it..i can understand why, but me..i liked it..especialy the cameo of thee Nathan Drake XD.

You definitely have to put use movie physics and medicine in movies like this. That car scene would have ripped him apart.

One thing I thought was unrealistic when it came to people's reaction to this is why people were so upset that it wasn't a perfect adaptation. While yes, having the movies closely match the games to the point where the movie seems kind of like a game in a way sounds good; to me, it sounds uninspired. I think Sony wasn't really trying to make a carbon copy perfect adaptation. I think they wanted to do something where it is sort of like a separate canon. In my mind, both the games and the movie is canon, but they are only really canon for their medium. The games are canon for the games and the movie is canon for the movie/s. I think they wanted to make something new with the overall feel of Uncharted so they could expand the series into something bigger than just the games. But IDK that's just my opinion.

Looking at this and then looking at Nathan Fillion's age *and version and whatnot, he can still absolutely play Nathan Drake but as a much older Drake, like a drake from the end of the last game. Not saying what happens there because spoilers but a nate from the final scene would still absolutely work, he wouldn't even have to do too much action as well by virtue of being a much older Nathan Drake.

Never played the games tbh but enjoyed the film Although it's difficult for me to see acrobatic American Tom Holland as not Peter Parker, he had many 'Peter Parker-isms' also with his facial and auditory reactions to things, but his dialogues different enough to the point where it wasn't a big issue

Tho the first half felt dragging. But the final act was so fun, especially the flying ships giving me Peter Pan but in the modern world. Plus, the fact that the gold fell in Philippine territory made me happy as a Filipino cause our country is actually very much in debt so it feels good to have a fake world where we get a bit richer ಥ‿ಥ

Fun movie but it didn’t feel like Uncharted. And Tom and Mark definitely didn’t feel like Nate and Sully.

Video game movies or shows I’d like too see. Heavy Rain done as a TV show it’s perfect for like probably 5 seasons that can be done in the games style and be interesting too see how the story unfolds through out the show. Until Dawn as a horror movie it’s a great setup cabin in the mountains with weird spiritual elements happening. Telltales Walking Dead as a show told through first Lee for a season or two then Clementine for a season or two. Detroit Become Human as either a show or movie I think the way the game plays it be better as a movie like the i-Robot film. Motor Storm all the games could be done as a racing movie like Fast and Furious. Split Second another racing game could be done as a movie like the film Death Race in a way. Midnight Club LA another racing game that could be a movie done like Fast and a Furious. Call Of Duty MW could make a good TV show that follows a guy that gets recruited to go undercover with Russians you all know that level in the game. And lastly I think Wipeout HD make a great TV show about futuristic racing maybe 4 seasons worth.
