The movie ends with John Candy's warm smile. I know the movie "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" also ends with a John Candy warm smile. I truly think it is one of the trademarks of an iconic movie moments, and an eighties iconic moment, too.

Excellent job, dude!! I did the same last year, in September, and visited multiple John Hughes film locations. And no joke, I also rented a Chevy Spark! It was silver. When you were at Peet’s Coffee, Kate Bueller’s real estate office is across the street, opposite corner. I did the matching up of bricks too, when I visited the lake area where Cameron is laying down, catatonic, with Sloan comforting him, while Ferris does his monologue. Now I have to go back and visit the Uncle Buck spots! Thanks for sharing your finds with all the detail!

Jay, glad to have you in Chicago. As a fan of John Hughes films, maybe next time you're in Chicago. John Hughes is buried in Lake Forest Cemetery, Lake Forest, Illinois. Where you can also see and visit The Chicago Bears Headquarters and practice field. Also in Wheaton, Illinois is the childhood home of the Belushi family, there home is still there.New Trier HS. Home Alone house Interiors also filmed at New Trier. McCallister house and the Murphy house in Home Alone was shot in the high school's swimming pool for the flooded house at the end of the movie. Love these videos. Thank you for doing this.

Along with Uncle Buck, my other two favorite John Candy films are Planes; Trains and Automobiles and The Great Outdoors! Of course my list of favorite 80’s movies by John Hughes is MUCH longer!

Great job on this video and matching up the scenes to the movie...especially as most have change in the last 30 years. Not sure how long you are in the Chicago area, but Woodstock is about 45 minutes West where the movieGroundhog Day was filmed and they have most of the locations marked. Also Gurnee has the Hotel from the movie Plane Trains and Automobiles. John Hughes liked filming in Winnetka, Wilmette areas as they is close to where he grow up so he filmed on location for most of his movies.

One of my favorite movies! Love and miss John Candy so much...he was the best (my favorite scene was when he tried to let the cat inside and McCauley says "we don't have a cat!" The kids were so funny! Lol, lol, the entire movie was awesome and hilarious. I could just reminisce all day about this golden age of movies....they just don't make them like that anymore.
