I just want to say thank you SO much for the amazing reception on this video! It's my most watched on yet, and I didn't expect this at all. ALSO, WE'RE RENEWED FOR SEASON 2 AND 3! More videos to come 🥰
they did a perfect job with Iroh, Zuko and Ozai. By far my favorite of the series. I hope they allow the Avatar gang to bond more on screen so us viewers get to share that emotion because when Iroh told Zuko all he need is right here i felt that one!
@@Mark-yx5ulThe original is about as close to perfection as you can come. And even though they changed a lot of things i still think this is a very good adaptation. These Zuko/Iroh moments definitely help for sure.
That was perhaps the best scene of the series! In the animated series we see the growth of Zuko and how compassionate he is, and how big his heart really is, but this series really did a great job showing the growth of Zuko. The 41st division backstory was a great touch!
1:40 The transition from a prince to a banished, scarred version is so great, especially given that he suffers despite doing a good thing. It adds another layer to Zuko's already legendary character!
The original is about as close to perfection as you can come. This interpretation however is excellent. They changed a lot of stuff, but its nice watching this not knowing what to expect. And i really hope well see season 2 and 3 soon too. My mom also loves it, but she refused to watch the anime.
I think sokkas actor actually did great too, he's got the soul down. kataras actor... I dunno why she is so much less emotional, as in showing her emotions like she did in the show.@@150_asharifadhilaha2
I cried so much when I heard Leaves from the Vine in the background during Iroh's flashback of Lu Ten's funeral. I am so glad they included it. I've been a fan of ATLA since it first aired, and I'm happy with the live action series. I think they did the story justice.
I loved the way they showed their backstory 🥹 A lot of people criticize the show for being bad, but compared to the movie that was made this was a lot better, and at least brought in some elements of the actual series.
Agreed! This live action can’t even be compared to that abomination of a movie. I loved this for what it is and can’t wait to see what they do with season 2 if it gets renewed.
@@littlecoconutinc agreed but I’ve heard that if the first season didn’t do good in the reviews then they weren’t going to make another season But I’m also hoping to make at least the next season If they do, I’m definitely going to be curious if they show the drill of the fire nation trying to penetrate the walls of basing se That would look fire 👌🏼
@@peruvianhaze853it does have really good numbers, and the reviews aren't exactly bad. Just very mixed. I hope that the numbers convince Netflix to green light the 2nd season.
When he stayed with him in one of his most tragic moments, he became like the son he lost and when Zuko had to go to the mission to find the Avatar, his uncle went with him, because he doesn't want to lose again a son and even the words that everything he needs is on that boat shows that nothing unless his beloved nephew who was like his son was left on that world full with war and pain
I just hope that they will also improve the scenes of zuko's change of heart when he decided to betray the fire nation to join team avatar. It was badass sure, but it lacked emotion
Dude. Duuuuuuuuuuuude. Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudre!!!!!!!!! How can you make me cry right now. This was the best casting forbthe entire series. They did it justice
Clearly, this is where this adaptation will thrive. They nailed Iroh and Zuko, while they will never replace the performances of Dante Basco and Mako, they clearly both still understand the characters and perfectly captured their spirits. These two performances so far have given the Netflix the right to keep at it with this adaptation.
episode 8 during the boat ride near the end broke my heart i’m ngl. zuko learning the truth about ozai and just says to iroh. “i don’t know. i’m tired.”
Aw god did you have to make me cry!?? 😭😭😭 This was lovely and really well done! Zuko and Iroh were the emotional heart of the original show and I think they did them justice in the live action. Their scenes were my favourite and their moments were the ones that really made me emotional. That twist that Zuko's crew are the division he saved is probably my favourite addition to the live action.
They found them...the perfect actors for the roles! :') If the live action did anything right (which they did quite a bit), the changes they made to the 41st and Zuko and Iroh is the best.
i hated the show but i LOVED Zuko and Iroh, literally perfect cast and their relationship in the live action show added SO MUCH to the original. Absolutely loved every second they were on screen
When I heard the 'leaves from the vine' song, I screamed and started balling, idc what people say, paku=eat shit, I think they did excellent in this show (I watched all of Avatar already)
I don't like that they made Zuko fight back in the Agni Kai, that goes against his whole character and reason for banishment. But, this relationship is portrayed so lovingly, and I love the addition of the 41st crew storyline.
This version of the series has helped me see that, as much as Zuko leans on Iroh, we never realized Iroh might lean on him more. 😢 Oh, yeah, and seasons 2 & 3 got confirmed today. Which means we get to have our hearts utterly shattered in a year. Oh, man, I am not ready....
If there's one thing I appreciated about the live action is Iroh and Zuko's backstory and the addition of the 41st division storyline. Like it was a great touch and addition to Zuko's storyline, cuz we already knew that Zuko cared for his crew, but this just added another layer. These kind of additions to the storyline I'm okay with because it added to the story and didn't detract from it. They did Zuko's character pretty well, I can't say the same for Aang, Katara and (my poor poor boy they did so dirty) Sokka.
Honestly, I liked Sokkas actor. They just need to give him more levity, he was way too serious. Hoping his character will mature and loosen up in S2 and S3
@@domokun845 Sokka’s actor was fantastic. The writers just didn’t understand his character and change his relationship with a lot of the characters and changed things they really didn’t need to and would cause a lot of problems down the line. @Master Samwise did a great analysis of the character in a video he posted today.
Did yall realise when iroh asked zuko what will you do next and he said to capture the avatar he cried but when he asks him again when zuko says i don’t know i’m tired he smiles
@@itsmesnowyyy very few people are. Though they are loud and obnoxious and have multiple fake profiles on social media to spew their hate, like Trans-people.
Leaves from the vine Falling so slow Like fragile tiny shells Drifting in the foam Little soldier boy Come marching home Brave soldier boy Comes marching home
Everyone's talking about the 41st division, and I agree it was a great addition, but one other tweak/change they made was the slight twinges of humanity we see in Ozai. I know he's supposed to be all "you were lucky to be alive" but there was always something that seemed... off about how Zuko told the story of his childhood. Yes Ursa protected him and shielded him from the worst of his family, but it always seemed like there was more to it than that. Sozin was once a kind an honourable man before the war. Azulon may have been born into and escalated the war but he still cared for his family. And of course, Iroh is well.. Iroh... Ozai always seemed like he was particularly evil even for his family's standards, he didn't even care about Zuko or Azula at all, which just didn't seem consistent with how obsessed they were with his approval. You'd think if he was _that_ cruel they'd jump at a chance to flee their lives. I think in the show it's implied at one point, much like Sozin a century before him, Ozai was once actually happy with him family, and maybe Ursa even loved him in some way, however including more overt scenes of Ozai being "human" would have confused the good vs evil message the show was going for. So instead it's left to more vague flashbacks from Zuko's POV. I like the way they twist it so that Ozai's actions aren't any less cruel, but you can almost see a look of regret and shame in his eyes... he even tears up when he burns Zuko... I think in his mind burning Zuko's face _actually was_ an act of love, he actually thought he was helping Zuko become stronger. And the same energy is carrier into the banishment scene. And I mean fair play, he did ultimately make Zuko the greatest Fire Lord in centuries, in a roundabout, extremely traumatic kind of way.
I just know Zuko is going to say Ozai gave him 41st division so they will be loyal to him because he cares about him in season 2 in a way to prove that to himself that his father really cares
A lot of people have been focusing on the negatives about the show. It's good to see something positive being praised for once. Heck they could've made an entire show about the life of Zuko and it could create its own success since the guy survived a lot with a lot of stories until the Legend of Korra time. No need to try to make a 1 on 1 remake from the animation series with almost every major plot twist known making the show stand out very difficult.
I've heard a lot of people complain about the changes they made in the live-action (never mind the fact that they obviously have to make some changes otherwise you just end up with the live-action Lion King, duh -3-), but personally I think most of the bad (like not just different actually bad) changes they've made were politically driven more than anything else. These, however, what are some of the best additions and changes they could have possibly made.
say what you want about the show. Yes live action and animated series differ but I do think they did a really REALY excellent job with Iroh and Zuko 😭 😭 😭
