Ahh yes, we all have those days where you forgot your lunch, but remembered to bring 40 lb of groceries and a live chicken, and your employer doesn't mind if you spend the whole day destroying the office and watching anime instead of doing any work.

The chicken is actually called 叫花鸡 or beggar chicken in English and it’s wrapped normally in banana leaves, then dirt, and then tin foil. Then placed into a fire to cook and the chicken comes out like in the video, juicy, tender, and flavorful!

The chicken that woman was cooking was a chinese cuisine dish called "Beggar's Chicken". The origin story is that a beggar managed to cook a chicken perfectly by slathering the chicken in mud and burying it, then lighting a wood fire (in this case, a charcoal fire) over it. A local merchant smelt the cooked chicken and made a business deal with the beggar to open their own restaurant. Eventually it got popular in China and now is quite a staple dish in restaurants (they use more modern methods like this woman did, covering the chicken in lettuce and tinfoil) . I wouldn't recommend doing it in an office building unless you're as desperate as that woman...

FUN FACT: cooking stuff like roast lamb and/or potatoes underground in foil very close to a campfire is actually a great way to cook, from personal experience, tastes great, would recommend (dont forget herbs tho)

To any new comers to Ms Yeah, She's VP of the company, she actually has a boss supporting her ideas (most ideas come from him actually) and yes the team you see is her team. The first few videos she made were mainly self made. Fire alarms DID go off once or twice in the building but arrangements were made to make the office safer while she would still produce (AKA company paid money to the building manager lol). Yes the was she made the food safe to eat. Attempts of the cooking methods are being done before shooting. Regarding the little girl whom died recreating the video, she was fined and paid a lump sum of money to the family regarding this situation. She made a Mea Culpa video about it explaining the situation and now all of her videos have warnings beforehand (even the old ones I believe) Today she is still making videos but all of her team is now involved one way or another. her frequence of making new content has dropped but she still stays very active on other contents.

She initially worked at a media company which (from what I know of the Chinese media industry) probably cut together clips from other sources and put on headlines as news. That's why she was allowed to film this series in her office, the first ever video was uploaded to the company channel. I'm not sure if she ever left and opened her own studio or if she's still at the same company, but pretty sure where ever she is, the company's biggest source of income and popularity would be from her videos now, she's one of the most well known social media stars in China.

Vegetables have made Uncle Roger so sad that he can't even tell the difference between lettuce and cabbage anymore.

Ah, yes, the chicken recipe's "Beggar's Chicken". "Traditionally", they wrap the chicken in lotus leaves or whatever, and use clay instead of just normal soil, but this probably... works. This is just a comedy video and pretty fake-looking, but some actual Beggar's Chicken would be cool.

I think she’s trying to mimic a type of traditional Chinese food called the JiaoHua Chicken (叫花鸡), it wraps lotus leaves around the chicken along with soil so the scent from the lotus leave will go in the soil while keeping the chicken moisturized under heat.
