It'd be utmost frustrating to click on one of these videos, while you're in absolute panic to save a loved one and the person (jackass) starts bantering...I think I elevated my blood pressure just now, imagining the scenario. I also appreciated the video immediately beginning, as soon as I clicked on it bc that'd be another intolerable thing to experience in the moment...a RU-vid Ad 🙄

By breathe do you breathe in or out since you want to take it out
@dewansaad8237
@dewansaad8237 3 года назад
(not a professional) but im pretty sure its you breathing "out" and "in" to his mouth to see if his chest enflates(at 2:49 you can see his chest enflating) and im guessing it wont if theres an obstruction there so you go back to chest chest compressions. This isnt that different from regular cpr so DONT breathe in thats a BAD idea.
@AnimeBleachBabe

What i don't understand is how can you give rescue breaths if the person's airway is obstructed? Wouldn't that push the obstruction further in?

Don't stop trying until the ems arrives and takes over. UK has some trash tv, but there's this one show that follows paramedics. They did chest compressions for over 40 min in a golf course parking lot before they stabilized him and saved his life.

Hi, thanks for your helpful teaching, but I have been taught to apply abdominal compression in this case for individuals who are not pregnant or obese and unconscious while we are one on aside of pationt... Is it incorrect??
@eliciagarcia3601
@eliciagarcia3601 3 года назад
In this demonstration he is showing what you do if they are choking AND ALSO unconscious. If they were conscious then you do the abdominal thrust (heimlich maneuver) so you would be going into their abdomen. But once they are unconscious you are just doing chest compressions (like CPR)- not the abdominal thrust. So the answer is NO you don't go into their abdomen (even if they are not pregnant. AKA you treat pregnant and non pregnant people the same for this one). Hope that makes sense and it helps.
@eliciagarcia3601
@eliciagarcia3601 3 года назад
The chest compressions have 2 jobs 1. Circulate their blood for them. 2. chest compressions can effectively push out the object from their throat. You just wouldn't want to do chest compressions (and possibly break their ribs) on someone who is still concious. If they are concious and choking then chest compressions will get the thing out but it's kinder to do the abdominal thrust because if you don't NEED to break someones ribs pumping their chest for them then you shouldnt. If they are concious then this means their heart is still pumping on its own. If the person is too big and heavy for you to give them the abdominal thrust while they are concious and choking then you CAN give them chest compressions as a second option. You would push them against the wall and press their chest so that the object shoots out.
@Areebah_Khan

Its a little confusing. Where should I do the compressions. The centre of the chest or the right or left side?
@briancannon4607
@briancannon4607 Год назад
The heart is just below the sternum and slightly to the left, and compressions are done on the CENTER of the chest
@ZahidKhan-ts6bv
@ZahidKhan-ts6bv Год назад
as more part of the heart is on right side . So keep your palm at center above two fingers above the xiphoid process... Such that your palm lateral most area is still two fingers above the xiphoid process...

probably because one shouldn't really do chest compressions on a person who doesn't need it and was probably done for the safety of the "unconscious patient"
@drumninja1869
@drumninja1869 3 года назад
First aid training used to include using the finger to sweep the unconscious person's throat for obstructions. You don't do that anymore? Also, why do you do CPR on someone with a pulse?
@TruthWillFreeYou
@TruthWillFreeYou 3 года назад
You only do a finger sweep if you see an object otherwise you could force the object further down into the airway or induce vomiting. That is called a BLIND finger sweep and is no longer accepted practice. If you can see it you can sweep it. 2:57 Check for a carotid pulse for no more than ten seconds. If there is a pulse but no breathing you continue rescue breathing at one breath every five seconds for two minutes. 3:22 If there is no carotid pulse then perform full CPR. Thirty compressions with two rescue breaths.

You can but you run the risk of spreading saliva and airborne diseases. However that does not mean don't do them. Like he says assess the patient before. I also have on my keys an emergency cpr kit which comes with a one way valve you can breathe into so you do not get any diseases from them.

In this case, if there is no object still, keep doing compressions, checking mouth, give 2 ventilations until ems arrives. If the heart then stops, if the aed is on the scene it can be used at this point but if the object is still lodged ems should arrive soon or just keep trying
@hypnosism.i3719

I read that chess compresions provides a little bit of oxygen to the body,.... would it be enough? If air is not going thrue due to something stuck in the wind pipe? .... at this point you shouldnt slap his back?, or try the heimlich maneuver? ... what if no one tried these things and thsts why he went unconscious?
@Suki0428
@Suki0428 3 года назад
@@hypnosism.i3719 Keep doing compressions and rescue breaths until EMS arrives. Even if the object is still lodged, compressions keep blood pumping through his body to keep him alive. Compressions act in place of his heart. Compressions keep him alive as well as an attempt to dislodge the object.

Surely if there unconscious can’t you take the food out of there airway
@simple_acount
@simple_acount 3 года назад
You could, but it's really unlikely. If food is blocking the airway, it is usually lodged in deep. There can be some cases where it's near the end of the mouth where you can reach it, but it is unlikely and pretty unsafe since there's a chance you can push the food in further. If you're talking about taking food out after performing the procedure, then yes, you usually can. Then again, I'm not a professional so please make sure to research the topic well or ask a professional.
@WAZAMPGaming
@WAZAMPGaming 3 года назад
Also, if you can’t see it and you try to stick your fingers down their throat to remove whatever it is obstructing their airway, there is a very high chance you’ll push the object further down due to not being able to get a grip of the object, you have to hope your chest compressions push the object up enough for you to see it and grab it.
