This is a first! Gok gets to help a priest find her dress. The unconventional vicar wants a light dress with pockets. Catch Say Yes to the Dress on TLC - Sky 133, Virgin 162, BT TV 323
She's not a Catholic priest, I presume, so the "priest getting married" is not quite such a big deal? ;-) Anglican, I guess? I will say, though, that the female ministers I know are all single. Lovely ladies, all of them; but marrying a minister means marrying a lifestyle...
@@Dulcess Priests can't get married after being ordained, they can however get married beforehand. But that's the catholic church. She is a vicar, same as a priest but of the church of England, different rules apply
I have two nightgowns/lounge gowns that have pockets. I didn't know they had them when I bought them. I'm SO HAPPY every time I put one of them on! 🤗🤗🤗
@@MrsSlocombesPuddyCat Many laypeople approach clergy as though they're a separate species -- as though committing to that sort of calling altered their DNA or something, but that's not really worth discussing. The thing that's worth talking about is that Gemma's so dad-gone funny about it. She knows how to break the ice and so does Gok, which is why they had so much fun together.
if i was getting remarried and had an unlimited budget i would literally FLY TO LANCASHIRE to see auntie gok because EVERY SINGLE DRESS IS 1000% PERFECT FOR EVERY BRIDE, I DON'T KNOW HOW HE DOES IT
Okay, I've watched like ten of these in a row, and HOW does Gok, every single time, help to bride choose a dress that perfectly embodies who she is? Not just that it suits her shape and her vision of the wedding, but it captures her personality and style and everything, and that makes her feel stunning? Bless this man for his attention to detail, patience, and respect for each person he works with. What an amazing, kind human being.
@@rigby.walabee Gok does it by being a keen and interested observer of humans rather than just a salesman. He "listens" with his eyes, ears and gut. If you listen long enough-and with all your senses-people will tell you who they are and what they want. It's just not always expressed in words ;)
@Paul Smith I feel like an Anglican priest is most certainly not what you described. She seems like such a genuine, outgoing person with an amazing personality and clearly a devotion to god that goes far beyond that of most people.
@Paul Smith Everyone sins at some point. How about Leviticus 19:19, which forbid the wearing of mixed clothing? Guess that cotton-poly blend is a sin. Or trimming your beard (Leviticus 19:27)? If you're gonna make people follow Leviticus 19:28, you'd better be prepared to follow ALL of Leviticus. Also, Jesus himself said that so long as you follow God and love your neighbor (Matthew 22:36-40), you will be following the greatest commandment in law, which the vicar above is doing, but which you most certainly are not. So stop your hateful judgements and listen to Jesus. You'll be happier without all that hate in your heart.
@Paul Smith Either way, it is not our role to judge and condemn. We must just behave with love and kindness toward all and leave all judgements to God. You are right to say that man's way is not God's way; it is not our way to be hateful judges of those that we think are behaving badly. We can only lead by example and trust God to make the right judgements at the right time.
Although the second dress looked stunning on her, you could just tell it wasn't her personality at all. The third one is just amazing! Suited her perfectly!
Lancashire is the only store in this series that doesn't need a veil to make the family see that it is the right dress. Gok is absolutely amazing 👏 Edit: OMG! Thanks for the 1k likes. I haven't got this many likes before. 😍😍😘 Another edit: Wow didn't know i can get this many likes! 6.8k ❤️❤️❤️
@@lisamaynard9304 usually, in the other versions of this show, the Entourage are ok with the dress, then they put on the veil and it “cHanGes” the dress. so basically there saying “yes to the veil” and not 100% loving their wedding dress. but this version, Gok has such beautiful dresses that the bride says “yes to the dress” without even trying on the veil.
@@lisamaynard9304 Lisa is could be a reference to what in the Catholic congregation reference to a woman taking vows to be a Nun as "taking the veil" whereas this lady is an Espscipcal priest not a nun.
It's Gok's phrasing which makes him one of the best. He asked her mum not how she looked, but he commented on how happy she was. Even if her mum had something she didn't like about it, he made her focus on the bride's happiness which is the most important thing.
They need to show more episodes with Gok!! They seriously have the best dresses and ive never seen them show the same dress twice which I love cause the other ones over do it with the same dress a million times!! And plus Gok is truly just the best!! 😁💕💕
She looked gorgeous in all three dresses, but, she just about ran down the stairs in the third dress. You could tell how happy she was. Wishing her all the best for her wedding day and future. 💕🇦🇺
Gok is the best consultant across the whole series. Randy will always have a special place in my heart, but Gok is just so damn good, kind, and understanding. The dresses there are also amazing.
I love randy because he does so much for his brides but he’s got a very hyper energy. Gok has a more calm energy which I think is why people love Auntie Gok
What a beautiful and refreshingly cool woman she is.... The dress looks stunning.... Such loving and supportive family & friends.... Gok is the best... I love him!!!!!!!
A female priest, getting married, with tattoos and a nose ring and a crazy haircut, and blue shoes. The only thing that would add to this shock is if she is a lesbian marrying a woman.
Most female Anglican vicars from the the earliest days if their ordination have been radical and unconventional. One of my Gran's best friends is a retired vicar and ardent feminist, who used her church power in support of LGBT rights
Didn't she say "Darlique" tho? I searched and searched for the definition of it. I also played it back 4 or 5 times to see what she did say and there's definitely an "L" in there. Maybe it's a slang term??
All the times a "quirky" bride comes on the show, and I think this is one of the first who truly is. Forget marching to her own drum, she has her own orchestra!
The way she got so excited after putting on the last dress was just so precious. Like she went from a strong, fierce woman to a giggling little girl, in a second. So cute.
Sha Kay I think he knew that she was just being defensive because people probably make a lot of assumptions about her because of her job. They seemed fine by the end of the episode once she had let her guard down
she's not a priest, she is a vicar. vicars are anglican and therefore protestant. priests are catholic and therefore can NEVER be female according to catholic church law. just thought you'd like to know.
I like how the third gown is strapless such that her tattoos on the shoulder and across the collar bone were not partially obstructed as was the case with the first two gowns. The shorter, raised hemline at the front really suited her lively personality!
@@jaydawilson7030 if you're supposed to come to church with covered shoulders to show respect to god. Then why should a priest come so "exposed" for those standards, the ones she is following herself as sb representing her church It's not befitting a church lady to come like this "Your job doesn't denote.. blabla" she is not a coal miner, she is a priest, she is the link to the church and to god so she should be the prime example of what god wants
@@jaydawilson7030 look it up yourself then. I didn't care if she was anyone else but she isn't, she is representing the church and that comes with responsibility and being a role model Here a little hint on how only the West is losing its traditions: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_head_covering
I LOVE how they laughed when she came out in the third dress... they were so full of joy seeing her that they laughed. UGH I LOVE IT!!!! I love this episode!!!
The third dress is the best because it does frame her body and tattoos well. It displays the tattoos well. Even the other two are still lovely dresses.
like she said, they are human too... religious ppl are thought to be closed minded..but isnt the way we look at them and the assumptions we make closed minded too?
@@laceypage8449 perhaps you don't (the -male- minister of the Methodist Church here where I live has tatoos, an earring, and shoulder length hair, though...). But just because someone does not have tatoos and piercings etc and happens to be a person of faith does not mean that they are automatically square, boring, judgemental etc. Some may be, but we may yet get surprised. And I have met someone who is heavily pierced and tatooed and had a "punk" hairdo back then and who is actually very shy and reserved.
This is my favorite dress ever on any of these episodes. I would prefer a more classic style shoe, without the bow, but her idea of adding a pop of color with the tea length is brilliant. She is delightful! The Gok episodes are by far the best and I have noticed pockets in a number of his episodes, which I love love love!
Lancashire is hands down the best of the SYTTD series. They don't play up the drama and the dresses are not only pretty, but really fit the brides' personalities.
I absolutely adored the first dress, but the one she chose was just so perfect for her and her personality, and that's not even taking into account how giddy and beautiful she felt in it! Gok is just amazing 🥰
Unlike others "who's my briiiiide!?!?" he doesnt pretend he doesnt know the bride when he sees her, he makes you feel so special the moment he sees u 😍😍😍😍😍
They said “priest” and I immediately thought of a Catholic priest. Vicars can get married, priests can’t. If I’m wrong, I get all my information about vicars from British sitcoms.
Catholic priests can only be men and can't get married. She's likely a priest in The Church of England. A vicar is the priest in charge of a small church.
Sophie Hamilton yes Sophie but it’s very very very rare to find this ...In 54 years as a practicing Catholic.I have never ever met a married Priest, ...not in Ireland I have never come across it ....Sometimes widowers are excepted to have a vocation...I have met one man, One !...who became a priest after his wife died, this too is very very very rare !
It broke my heart when she doesn’t feel beautiful on a daily basis because she is absolutely stunning. Her hair cut makes her look so youthful and the first dress really showed just the right amount skin. She is so stunning in all the dresses but I think I liked the back on the first dress. Edit: I just saw the final dress and it’s perfect for her.
The dresses just kept getting better, she looks absolutely stunning and her friends and family are so loving and supportive. This was such a good one!!
Beautiful bride, dress, and entourage! I love how honest and outspoken the bride and her mom were, and everyone was having fun. Mom wasn't being snarky with her comments, as we've seen many times on "Say Yes." Shame on the Christians here who are calling the bride "disgusting," "offensive," and "terrible." The tattoos and nose ring were her choice, but God Almighty gave her those moles and freckles! If she has any scars, that just means she's living. Life scars all of us, from gaining or losing weight to accidents or necessary (maybe even life saving) medical procedures. Don't forget our mental and emotional scars, thanks to thoughtless people like some commenting here. We know nothing about this bride, except she's on television, and is letting us in on her special occasion. I'm a Christ follower, and I continually ask God to help me see others as He sees everyone, with love, compassion, and kindness. If you can't say anything good, then don't say anything at all.
I'm not a god follower but I so agree with everything you had to say and thank you for doing so. I personally thought she was so lovely and she got a dress that she made shine.. and with pockets! =D
I'm so much of a Randy fan. I didn't expect to like Gok. I probably didn't want to. But he is irresistible. Absolutely irresistible. So compassionate. So caring. Helps every bride to not only look her best. But to feel her best. Gok makes me happy. Bravo!!!
Dulces everyone is wearing the same clothes. I’m guessing they made her up upstairs before she came down. This happened before the 3rd dress was tried on that her hair went from straight to curly
I absolutely love the guy that helped her choose the dress. Very open to criticism and ready to offer the best for the client. Also, the prices were not crazy at all, great that they didn't push it with "ohh, what you're looking for is much more expensive". She got a lovely dress, many congratulations to her for the wedding. :)
She may have naturally curly hair and depending how long they've been there, humidity could have kicked in or they could have shot this on 2 separate days and edited the final.
I really loved her in the first dress!! It was stunning on her (and not just anyone can pull off that kind of dress) she looked like a goddess :) I’m glad she picked the one that made her happy and she looked lovely in it as well - she couldn’t have gone wrong with any choice :)
My favourite episode 🖤 everything about this, how brutally honest they were, how polite and sweet, how that dress just... it was made for her. First priest I'd actually trust and want to go see!! She seems amazing and deserves to feel that way 🙌
I didn't know what a Dalek was? Searched for it and she was right!!! Hilarious! Sorry. 2nd dress was beautiful but 3rd dress showed off her tattoos and "freed" her to move comfortably! Absolutely gorgeous!!!
i love this priest... hhahhah tatooes, nose ring , getting married so unheard of but first thing i said was like yahhh we need more priests like you who will say ''am HUMAN!!!''
That dress is so HER! He nailed it! She's exactly who she is in this dress, and beautiful! Red shoes would go well too, or glass slippers! Beautiful! Gok is a GENIUS. 🙏🏻🌷💗🌷🙏🏻
As always, Gok, you did a great job! You have a way of reaching the soul of a person! Their very "essence". And every bride you assist walks away with the dress that makes her feel like a million bucks. At a great price! I would hug you just like this bride did. You are a special & very talented human being!!!! Love "Say Yes to the Dress Lancashire"!
