I completely agree on what you're saying, that most of the work comes from existing clients, but at the end of the day, these existing clients became EXISTING through you coming up with ways to hunt them down, just like you said. I'm a one man micky mouse video situation right now without wider budgets to hire crew outside of one reliable sound guy. It's very difficult to form connections; everyone is doing there own thing. My experience level is 100 times below yours but one thing i notice is trying to build a bit of a showreel last year, it was hard to even do something for free for some people, like a friend is putting on a play in London, do they want it done? Filmed? Do they fuck lol. On a side Note Scott, in terms of doing what you're saying here in order to get some production assistant work is it best to write to producers directors or creative houses ad agencies themselves? Or is it just all of the above?
