Why don't you do the research? Western Civilization began when the Catholic Church was begun by the Apostles. It is one, holy and Apostolic church. With the money given in charity, it builds churches, hospitals, schools, Colleges and Universities, orphanages research institutions, it gives money for scientific research. People from all over the world can go to its hospital which is famous. I don't know where you get your information but it is wrong. Maybe you should stop buying clothes and give that money to charity. Anyone can go to a Catholic Church and get money for food and lodging. Catholics are very generous. Our church has a huge amount of money in trust for when it's needed. I will be sure to tell my parish priest to stop buying his vestments because you don't like it. "These priests" mostly live very simply. They are always available to their parishioners and eat like normal people. Many have birth families that they help out or do work all over the world in jungles, etc. Africa and the East are having a boom in new parishioners and live in poverty like they do. I have studied church history because I am a Youth Instructor. I have to be able to answer every question they ask. Maybe they should add water to their wine.
