Thank you for your video. It's very important for people to realize there is not some added cleaning chemical added to the sponge, but that it is the sponge's composition itself that allows for the cleaning action. When someone says her kid got a chemical burn because she wiped his face with this, he actually had a friction burn (as if she'd rubbed his face with ultra-fine grit sandpaper).

Awesome video dude! I always appreciate when people actually bother to show the chemical structures. As a urethane chemist, I feel it does behoove me to point out that the Lewis structure shown for "Isocyanate Compounds" at about 3:15 is incorrect; should be R - N=C=O.

I did - several things 😉What I was *hoping* was to find was a tool to clean coloured rubber silicone, i.e. a red coloured watch band which has some grey marks on it. I hoped the ME might work but I've just bought one, tried it, and it doesn't seem to have much effect. *Might* you have any thoughts on how to clean coloured silicone rubber of the normal marks that arise from just wearing it? Maybe an abrasive is required to "shave off" the grubby patches.

Thanks! iRobot recommended using melamine foam (Magic Eraser) for cleaning the contacts on my Roomba, and I had never heard of it before. I think I will stick with some 5000 grit wet-dry sandpaper

Great video, very informative. I have a similar question about melamine based foam used in acoustic panels, would there also essentially be particles being released by the acoustic panels as well? Are these dangerous to be exposed to?

How bad would it be on using the eraser on vynl seats in boats ? I used it and works like a charm but I was told I did more damage then good

I think it really depends on how much you're using it and how much pressure you apply. Remember it's like sandpaper. If the seats have a glossy look it could remove that and the more you use it the more you're removing the surface of the vinyl

What if i was scrubbing a bathtub? The bathtub was wet, so that pretty much keeps the particles from being airborne, right? Also, any regular covid mask will do?

There are a lot of videos about using this on cooking pans - based on what you’ve said, that’s a risk for people to ingest as a result of using them on their cooking instruments, right? (Say both non-stick and steel pans)

Non stick would be a very bad idea as you would remove the coating that could be toxic to humans (fluorinated compounds) stainless steel would be probably less bad but you would remove a layer

Depends on what material, it's like sandpaper so if used gently it can be fine but it may take off paint and shine if you'd aggressively

@@Shnickerman ok, awesome thanks. Hey, you should make videos on how "Chemical Guys" products work on cars. They have this spray that you spray on wet cars after you wash it. And it's supposed to aid in the drying process by separating the water droplets from the metal, so when you pass the towel through the towel picks up the water droplets easier. The spray is called "After Wash". Not sure what the active ingredient is.
