Hope you enjoy this one guys!
I know I'm flying in the face of some common ISFP stereotypes. But these have been common themes I've noticed. The full ISFP video will be finished by the end of the week ~

That third point really hits, lol. A lot of what I feel can get lost in translation when I’m asked to describe it verbally in the moment, so often what I want to express as something much more substantive in my head comes out of my mouth very ineloquently. It’s very annoying, and a big reason why I’m better at expressing these things in written form when I’ve had more time to mull it over.

ISFP here, that 3rd point hit hard and really made me contemplate. It's so true I've always struggled to communicate what I want to convey through speech & words. Almost like I don't trust them to convey what I want accurately, at least in the moment & in person, however, texting gives me such relief in the ease of expressing myself through words (Edit: haha just realized as seen here XD). I find there is just so much, I just get overwhelmed with a murmur of thoughts, what to say in the moment, and often default to those generalizd answers to avoid awkwardness or silence for too long even though I'm truly feeling, processing, and understanding. I hate it about myself. That point about the identify hits, but in the way that, "Man I can't even fully show people the depth within me that I know is there". I don't feel it as a disconnect of who I am, questioning myself, more just the frustration that others won't come to know it to do my lack of ability in communicating it. I too had the INFP/ISFP battle question for a long time, but through research of cognitive functions and interviews with INFP's, I do not possess that Ne to the extent you guys do & being so generatively imaginative. It's something I admire, being able to get your thoughts out as they come freely. For me it's like there are so many ways I wish to respond but I want the perfect way to truly express myself, and if I can't find it, I usually give up or say nothing. I don't feel as though it's from lacking confidence to express myself, I want to & will, it's just that words are like my weakness in expression, not my natural way. I have actually set up a system with my close friends/family where I literally SHOW them how I'm feeling (through art/images/songs/music/poems) and then can elaborate and soar off with so much more clarity once they are seeing it too, I just wish I had that ability without a medium. Something I'm working on! P.S. Thank you for showing the depth to us ISFP's, I feel stereotypically it's not really represented. Much love 🥺

I feel confident to communicate or add to, but often don't deem it necessary. I wouldn't want to overshadow the other person's depth by saying the same exact thing with my flair. I often add very little to say, yes I'm in complete solidarity with what you said and conclude alongside of you that yes, life can be tough 😊

“Connect to how they feel bout it” most people would give u reasons and why they put stuff together colors theory etc etc and then isfp like i just felt it was right to my vibe and was a pleasure to the eyes so thats why I chose it its as most people like to make I believe they have sense beauty and art is like their big thing where isfps art comes from within they don’t have to show off their artistic abilities :) their existence in itself is art hehe

I found the first very true, especially when house hunting surprisingly. Everything is about how I or it feels to me. If I was not bonded to the image of the house or an environment, or it gave a whiff of 1% negative feeling it was out. Feeling things deeply is a blessing and a curse!

Thank you so much for this video. I've read and watched a lot of materials on ISFPs but only you managed to make me feel really understood, especially with the part about not being able to express my connection to depth through my own words sometimes. That's why I love sharing music with people I care about, it's very personal to me

The first two are obviously correct but the third point is just hit the ball out of the park its so accurate. And i could truly resonate with the advice you gave in that regard as well. Gem of a explanation bro. Particularly when theres an absolute dearth of information about ISFP's everywhere. Keep rocking bud 🙌

Everything you said 💯 . I definitely prefer to do things my way. Maybe no one else has thought of doing it that way before or maybe it only makes sense to me but either way I will do what I want to do. And yea I had trouble accepting myself as an ISFP because I didn’t really consider myself artistic (no musical talents) but I have always rearranged and redesigned my space (new curtains, paint, etc) since I was a child

This is all very true. These traits you mentioned are actually what affirmed for me I’m an ISFP more than INFP which is funny. ESPECIALLY the third point.
@dave23024

So true. As an ISFP, that first point is so true. Things might appear messy to an untrained eye, but everything's location is sort of "imprinted" in my memory. If I do a massive cleaning, I don't remember any of the new locations for my stuff. I can literally be holding something in my hand, put it down somewhere, then later I'll look at my hand like WTF? The action of putting it down never even registered, and now I'm tearing the house apart, trying to find something that just vanished into thin air.

Cyincal depressed ISPF here. I had the exact same (and still have) confusion about the Ne/Se identification. I can feel you. I am 34 and try to revive my artistic side. After living a life so far by the intellectual dogma of my surrounding, primarily my parents. Thank you.

main points (sorry i wanted take notes while watching and refer back to this when i rewatch this video T_T): 1. INFP is influenced through intuition with their environment, but ISFP is grounded and influenced through their physical environment/living spaces. so ISFP are stubborn about their own way of doing things or how they place things in their living spaces because it only feels right to them when done their way. 2. ISFP knows what is the magic/beauty they want in things/life, but they prefer to approach this process in their own pace. Other people rushing them makes them uncomfortable, they prefer marching to their own beat in their approaches to decisions/life. 3. ISFP hear people's stories and have the ability to feel the deep emotions the other person could have experienced (empathy?). But they struggle to communicate/express back that they understood those deep emotions to the other person. This is due to a lack of confidence/trust/awareness in their ability to express their emotions to others. Could be a fear of showing emotions? A lack of understanding/identifying/communicating their deep emotions? Instead, they give a generalised/surface level response to the other person. Making it appear as if the ISFP doesn't fully care/empathize with the person, which is not the case. Only highly intuitive people (INFP) can read between the lines of an ISFP's response to know they did understand and empathize with the story they shared, despite the ISFP's seemingly unemotional/unempathetic words. 4. ISFP's struggle with understanding/communicating their deep emotions can cause them to have a identity crisis. They need to be more aware, confident, and trusting of their abilities and be less fearful of showing emotions or being a perfect ideal to the public. They can express their emotional depth through artistic pursuits (art, dance, music) or communication (writing, poems, speaking) or home design (home decor, organizing of spaces). This is a method for them to understand their identity more. 5. I love how clear and easy to understand your video was , i used to be INFP when young but now i have more clarity in being aware and understanding my thoughts, feelings, and communication. I retook MBTI test and got ISFP and finally it feels more right and at place

the third point hit HARD, how relatable! What's awsome about INFPs is that they seem to understand their complex inner world while for ISFPs it's blurred...

I'm just going to throw it out there. MBTIs are just horoscope for Gen Z. I took 3 different MBTI tests; including 16Personalities, Personality Hunt, Personality Junkies, Truity and every MBTI tests under the sun. I get 70% said I'm an INFP and the other 30% said ISFP. I hired an incredible MBTI specialist to get properly tested. It costs me $120 for two full sessions on Zoom with 2 specialists at the same time and I got diagnosed with ISFP-4w5. I'm not saying the online tests are all BS but if you really obsessed with your MTBI and its' functions; I suggest you find a specialist in MTBI or find a book about it. It worth the money, trust me!

The first point makes so much more sense to me. My cognitive functions correlate with ISFP but I never thought of myself as a perceiver, rather a judger. Hearing you explain that ISFPs like things organized and designed their way connects all the pieces

Hit the nail on the head with the last one 👍👍 thing is, responding with generalities is not because it's hard to formulate what we're trying to get across, it's more like gosh all this talking makes things so complicated, so let me just fall back on a good general wisdom that makes sense 🤷‍♂️
@dark-vigilant

OMG!! I was the opposite of you! While you are an INFP and you thought you were an ISFP, I am actually an ISFP who kept thinking I was an INFP! 😅 It’s because I didn’t relate much to feel really “artistic” and more so can “write better” but I understand now what ISFP is and I fully embrace it now! Still trying to learn what it’s really about and how ISFP functions but I am at least opening myself up to learning more about myself and accepting myself as a whole! I love it! It makes complete sense why ISFP and INFP can relate or be very similar!

And, perhaps, the difficulty in verbalizing your feelings and thoughts is a feature, and not a bug. If ISFPs developed this aspect of communication, would it be at the expense of your other creative abilities? This INFP thinks the world needs all the unsullied ISFPs we can get!

7:20 I can really relate to this and tbh I hate this about myself because I feel like I dismiss the person's feelings in a way while in my head It's a way to relate to them and look at things without having to get too personal and yeah it's annoying >~< Edit: yeah very true with the lack of trust and ability to make sense of it yes u get it this why INFPs are the elite though cause they the opposite of this

When I first started learning about MBTI I was sure I was INFP, but as I kept going, I found out I’m actually an ISFP. This is all so relatable. Especially so with the last one. I nearly cried listening to it. I feel like I have entire universes inside of me, but I have no way of communicating them with people. So as a general, I avoid trying to connect all together. I’ve recently made an accidental connection with someone (pretty sure some sort of NP) and I get them so entirely, but I’m so worried it doesn’t come across like that.

Or, maybe we feel so comfortable about it that we can openly express that we heard you, we see the dilemma or whatever, and yet we think it's more of a personal internal struggle that you don't need to be laying at our door so we're generalizing because it is only a general thing, that everyone goes through or feels or wants or whatever. I don't have endless time to be gobbing on about emotional frills of life. I just don't.

ENFJ with a ISFP crush. So true. Hard to get my crush to communicate his feelings with me. He did say he is better with his actions then words. And he flirts with me in txt and roleplay. Not words in txt messages, but actions. And he uses actions in roleplay too I did confess to him. He hasnt denied my confession. And still action txt flirting.

I've gone this whole time thinking I'm an infp but on a j spectrum because, i feel my feelings very intensely, and feel like a hippy connected to the universe and all the lil baby critters in it, and yes I have my own values and beliefs that I can be firm in, but they're still subject to reinterpretation with input that contradicts them, and I don't have a firm understanding of my identity like infp typical and I'm not very artistic but if I have a vision I can pretty easily carry it out, and I appreciate the rant because it's so funny how leaning into the isfp feels like home or a friend I'd forgotten I loved dearly 😅and again, not sure if that makes sense, I feel like if I say things as they come to me I sound confused or like I'm having a stroke, but i ynderstand what i mean (most of the time) and it feels so validating to have someone explain my feelings for me😂thank you for the pep talk!
