Under Night is just full of some insanely good songs. The character select theme to this game is my ringtone.

My favorite character theme from this series. The piano and the electric guitar competing with each other in a sort of call-and-response is just too good, as if they were having a friendly rivalry. I enjoy hearing music that uses wildly different instruments together in general, as it makes for more unique and creative music. From what I’ve seen, you’re mostly right about the character this theme represents being classy and cocky, as he has a very refined, elegant fighting style. He’s mostly a nice guy, though he does have his cocky moments from time to time. This theme also references Frederic Chopin quite a bit, and even includes a bit of his 1st Ballade. Aside from this theme, most of Under Night’s music in general is very classy and smooth in comparison to other fighting games, since the game’s action takes place at night. It really adds to that aura of clandestine battles taking place far from the prying eyes of the public (kind of like the early Fate series). Unfortunately, my knowledge of this series is still rather limited, since I suck at fighting games, so I’ll leave it to the other fans to explain more. The music, on the other hand, is pretty much guaranteed to be great, and you can’t go wrong with any of this series’ (and Raito’s) themes.

Under night soundtrack is so cool this was a pleasant surprise for me I love this game sm. Definitely worth checking out more of its music

Under Night is set in the town of Kanzakai, were a strange phenomenon(The Night) happens every full moon were the border between this world and another unknown one become blurred, and alien creatures called voids seep into our world. Those who encounter these beings during this timeframe are more often than not attacked, and the void feeds on their existence. Some dissapear and never return, some wake up later with no recollection ,but those fortunate to have the endurance to pull through become In-Births, and find themselves with supernatural powers, each unique to the person. See, the void feed on your very Existence(EXS) and in that emptiness created in you(Vessel) is replaced with the otherwordly(existence) and that gives you your abilites. It is preffered that the amount of power you get is small to medium sized, for the more monstrous your power is, the more unhinged and primal you become. Some have gotten to a point where they have become immortal(Re-Births), but those peoples conciousness are long gone, replace by the otherwordly presence, effectively becoming human voids. One example of an In-Birth is the protagonist, Kido Hyde, who got attacked, was saved, survived , and got powers in the form of a red katana(The Insulator). He can use this katana to fight as you would expect, but it can also channel, create and weave dark energy into beams, vortexes and explosions, and also disc projectiles. The sword also uses this ability to render people and objects at and tearing them apart at a molecular level, killing them swiftly and painfully. It is so effective, it can even kill the aforementioned Re-Births. This is why his saviour, Linne, a small girl dual wielding a sword and knife, has taken an interest in him and trains him to fight. An event about 200 or so years ago aflicted her with an immortality curse, which activates upon her death. Her soul, memory and conciousness are preserved by being transplated on the nearest young girl in her vicinity, killing that person's conciousness and personality and highjacking their body. Since then, this curse served to destroy the lives of dozens of girls, so she know seeks death. That is her reason for training Hyde, so that someday he can fight her and finally have an end to her own existence.

"Wonderful Boy" from Melty Blood is such a god-tier track, I heavily recommend people give it a listen

I really like this song, and I like it even better in game with Londrekia's combo following the beat of the song.

YES! Under Night, my favourite fighting game. If you will do more under night music, I would suggest Hyde's theme, "Scraper Sky High". It goes so hard for a main character theme.

oh god, Jesse, if you're curious about Melty, you might wanna check out Blood Drain Again from the Under Night OST. Under Night has the protagonist from Melty as the guest character, and her theme song is a remix of the Melty Blood theme song. My favorite piece from the UNIEL OST (which is packed with awesomeness). As for the Game, Uniclr is the latest iteration of the game, the fourth one, I think.

I'm surprised this was the first Under Night song and not either Byakuya's theme or Unknown Actors. (Which is the main theme) Also to answer your question, the fights take place at night. Hence why the fights look dark. There are no day stages. There is a reason for that, but that goes into deep lore.

11:19 FIRST: Sequel is in works finally a sequel after a nearly a decade since the first version there have been multiple editions first version was simply called under night in birth which was arcade that had infinites galore as versions gets added they added more to name to imply its a upgraded version

I'm a little confused that he says he's never heard of under night, yet there's a video of him doing a guitar riff from Gordeau's theme. Also should check out Hyde's theme, Sky Scraper High.

Man I would love for you to listen to Streets of Rage 4's character select theme.

Under night and melty blood are both type moon properties (I believe) which means they are both by default part of the same cannon even though they have nothing to do with each other. Though Melty Blood does bring in character from the visual novel Tsukihime and some other type moon stuff too.
