Thank you Vish. Spot on about the 2nd-and-3 play call on that crucial late drive. When the play happened my immediate reaction was "Why would you not run it there?" It's concerning that Kyle is still making these puzzling play calls late in games with a slim lead. Reminds me of his other choke jobs late in big games. They got away with it this time because it was against god awful Dak and the Cowboys, but if that happens against an elite QB you'll pay for it. Also because they won I'm sure Kyle won't think twice about it.
Agree with you, Rob, about prevent defense. I'll never understand it. Too often the games turn around when teams go soft defensively. We've seen it often that the team then loses throughout the league. I don't understand, when things are working, you don't play the entire game the same. It's almost like being afraid to lose rather than finishing off big. McCaffree missed many blocks last year. Many. He's average at best, imo. Mason is a good blocker.
True but almost no one actually plays a prevent defense at that point. You're actually getting a lot over cover 2 high. People often confuse it because teams stop hiding it...the emphasis being on tackling in bounds... But offenses know the rules and what's available if it's not disguised.
