It always makes me sad to see companies that are very rich and they give so little back to the people who make them money. They should do more and they can afford it. These workers deserved more.

These two ladies come from a life where they haven’t had to deal with financial hardship. People at the top of organizations don’t face the daily struggle of those at the bottom. They are older in life so adapting to new job skills isn’t easy. At least they were nice enough to appreciate their employees.

I loved this video! If that Taxi company were here in North Texas, I'd use them regularly. I've heard so many scary stories about the drivers for our area, I choose not to call them for a ride, and instead I just don't go to whatever I wanted to go to. And the cosmic cab thing is delightful. If I were a cab driver, and were able to do such a thing, I'd have a disco cab! Mirror ball, bead curtain, black lights and the BeeGees, baby! LOL And I'd dress the part (except for the platform shoes), you can't drive in those trust me I remember all too well. LOL

This will probably be the last "Undercover Boss" that I will watch. Two things... I can't believe how little management seems to know about their own companies and it's just one long commercial. The managers are always telling us how great the employees are and the company is wonderful. If everything is so great, why do they feel the need to go on this show? I bet they pay to be on it. It makes no sense otherwise. No good manager is going to come on the and tell the world their company sucks.

Somehow I thought two women--especially a mother and daughter--would be more generous than most of the other Canadian bosses. (I know, sexist, but hey.) NOPE. Let's be real. If they really wanted to make a difference they would have created retirement savings plans for ALL of their employees, not just Mr. Edwards. They are not the cheapest bosses I've seen on the show but they're not much better.

"Socialism only works until you run out of other people's money." Margret Thatcher. Take those words to heart. People are always more generous when it's not thier own money being spent. Now, if I wanted to improve the business, while assisting those who showed such excellence, I would suggest an assistant for the mechanic, to help reduce his load, and do the simple tasks, who could also learn the trade. This would also allow for sick days, and free up the mechanic for the more complicated tasks that every mechanic must do. It would truly suck to have to stop work under a car, to run out and check fluids on several cars in the rain, a job any trainee could do.

Because when the bosses comes to investigate or see how the hotel was doing, they chose the best rooms, cleans it good, but d older rooms weren't. One bell man in the afternoon shift from 15:00 hrs to 23:30 hrs. Can't handle take care of transportation to hotel, airport both ways plus to other hotels, picking up guests at others hotels, restaurants, shopping, and golf courses forth and back. Same time helping guests with their luggages to the rooms and to the lobby, answer phones, handle storage room, delivery packages, messages, letters to rooms, and assisting guests in the lobby with transportation, buses, taxi and more all at the same time. Cleaning our buses, vans and caddy. A person can't do all of these at the same time, but this was what we were given to do. On our very busy day due to the typhoon a day earlier, I ended up missed our vip guests pick up at the airport because I was picking up guests from hotels and restaurants at that time. And hotels were PIC on south of the island, Nikko Hotel at the east end of the island. Because of the missed pick up, I was forced to resign. This job when I first started working, we were about 4 and 5 staff during morning shift, and as well if afternoon shift was busy, but I was all alone that very busy day, infact, I was called in two hours earlier because of it was busy.

Okay, lets look at what is wrong with this picture...... 1) Although a nice gesture, why would you promote a driver with no formal training in charge of training others on what to do in a potentially dangerous situation? 2) If driver safety was important, why wouldn't you spend the money on a plexiglass partition between the seats? 3) Why wouldn't you hire a dedicated dispatcher just for questions or directions on a separate channel ? 4) If you cared about ALL your employees, why not offer a 401K (or similar type program) for retirement ? 5) Why didn't they offer ALL mechanics an allowance for tools $5000 is nothing compared to the $80K he spent already, This all seemed to be for show and not making any real changes to improve things for the company on a large scale.

It's not about how much the employees receive it's about how good the work is done and how well is represented the company. The boss who is there is just to find out how can they improve what they are not aware of because in occasions thing are overlooked. Anything given to these employees even if it's not alot is a help. Hope the company keeps improving and God protects every driver and passengers. 😊❤

Wow! Someone didn't watch the full episode! Guy spends over $70k on equipment for the company... Receives $5,000 for new tools your telling me that what they did was correct? They stole this guys money he obviously has a mental disability given the fact that he spent over 70 grand on equipment for the company he's literally working for free at this point this is technically slavery "But we want to do something for you here's $5,000 to put back into the company" They take advantage of their employees with mental disability that's where i draw the line on them and don't tell me he doesn't just look at him and what sane person would donate 70k to their work and then proceed to work for free until they pay off the debt NOBODY!

Brokengamezone as I said in my comment everyone has a right to a opinion. Which I totally respect and FYI I did see the full eposide and if you heard and for what I understand this mechanic is doing a job for the taxi company. And yes for many years perhaps the owner says she can see that if it wasn't for the help she receives from the people that love thier jobs the taxis wouldn't be a sucess. So to my understanding this mechanic gives the company a service as a garage not of the company. So to me 5,000 is pretty good maybe not as much as he has spent but helps.

The Canadian bosses are very conservative with how much they give away compared to the US bosses.
@ayishas4385
@ayishas4385 Год назад
You know, I have the opposite reaction. I've watched a couple of the US shows, and I can't stand the gratuitous displays of generosity. As someone who has lived hand-to-mouth and on/below the poverty line much of my life, who's been on the receiving end of some wonderful generosity from wealthy people in my community, I can say that 1,000-10,000 is a godsend, and will make a massive difference in the life of a struggling employee. If you make the gift any larger than that, it's like winning the lottery -- and the vast majority of lottery winners are back to the same income or even below just a year after they win. That much money can mess with someone's life: they aren't used to dealing with that kind of money. It also removes a lot of the satisfaction people have of accomplishing something themselves. Rich people have to be very, very careful when they give money, to make sure that their money will not harm the recipients, and to show respect for the dignity of the people whom they're giving to. For instance, giving people a sum to kickstart retirement or kids' college could be a real incentive for them to do more with it, but saying "I'll pay for all your kids' colleges" (as I've seen in the US show) removes not only the incentive for those people to take action themselves, but also removes the confidence that one is able to provide for one's kids. I can't stand the attitudes of the US shows, as if throwing massive amounts of money around is going to help people: it's all about what makes good TV instead of about what actually helps the individuals. It's disrespectful, and the attention-seeking of it takes away a lot of the true joy of the generosity, both in giving and receiving. I really believe in the Canadian and UK versions that the carefully given money will work wonders in their employee's lives. In the US versions, which seem to be more about showing off and doing something shocking than about really looking at the needs of the employees, I think it's more likely that the employees won't know what to do with that much money, or will be left feeling a bit empty, like all the satisfaction got taken out of what should've been a nice gift. It will also breed serious amounts of discontent among other employees, who will wonder why they're working so hard if their boss can throw money around that way, and make them wonder why only one of them got singled out randomly for a new house, when there might have been 25 of them for whom 10,000 would have been a life changer.

TBH, i love taking Beck Taxi and i have been taking Beck Taxi for more than 3 yrs now, but it's just the drivers, some of em r rude and when u tell them to go specific way, they always end up taking the long route, hence making us pay more than what u expect to pay for ur fare. Therefore bad service, but i do respect some of the drivers who always listen to u n when u tell em to go a bit fast, so u can reach ur destination , they always try their best, i got much respect to those drivers.

The Taxi firm is VERY inefficient. I drove Taxis in Australia from 1995 to 2000, and back then we had digital dispatch, for a company that size, why no data dispatch terminals in cars ?, Keeps your airtime to a minimum, keeping the radio reduced to Query channel (Driver speaks to base) Ackber's car would be Defected by the Police here in Australia, 1) for the headlight, and 2) all that bling light system.

Wage slavery is what i call what is going on with wages in the US. It needs to change, it WAS different, but then the minimum wage stayed basically the same for decades while everything went up, and the taxes are laughably low, especially for the people making REAL money. 70-80K tools, and he still needs more, he should NEVER have had to spend that, the shop should be stocked with everything he might ever need, and some extra for some possibly, or for another mechanic. He should be reimbursed for ALL of that money. That is actually borderline criminal. 1 day a month off, that's nuts ! HE IS SAVING YOUR COMPANY !!! AND WITH HIS OWN MONEY !!! The cameras shouldn;t take pics every few seconds, but roll, and we had stickers on the windows where the passengers get in that there is camera supervision at all times.

i dunno, uber isnt in my city,(winnipeg, mb, canada) something to do with our bylaws. we also have had "saferides" (rideshares) here way b4 uber was a thing. a bunch of our local indigenous women felt like we were being unfairly targeted and sexually harassed by a local taxi drivers in a particular part of the city, ontop of the murdered and missing indigenous women crisis here in canada, So in response we started a grassroots version online in fb groups called saferides which were for women and children only to begin with early on. then it grew to other groups which accepted men and so forth. once it caught on ppl started complaining about stupid things like why not men, and stuff like how do we know if theyre a safe driver etc. basically it was all these snowflake complainers that brought our underground saferide movement to the attention of the government, then our city ended up creating lame bylaws such as you need to change ur license, pay a fee, agree to drive during specific hours etc. totally ruined why we started it to begin with. and this was way b4 uber was even a thing yet and never did come to my city bc they dont want to fallow our bylaws, which i totally understand why. so it was all you permit patty's and bbq betty's that ruined rideshare for my city.

If it is like in Europe, it mostly means the drivers have to make more hours, due to Uber taking 30% of each fare, where before you pocketed that yourself. Also, peak times are rare, slow times are plenty. On peak times, customers complain a lot, on slow times, they have no respect for you or your car, since they can give you a bad rating and help you out of a job in no time, also, they can order a dozen other Ubers in no-time. It is killing the fun for drivers, but is also driving the professionals out of the business.

to be 1000 percent honest with you, that's very common that mechanics buy there own tools for the shop there working at, its very very common for them to buy there own tools, now somplaces give there mechanics like 500 a year to spend on tools and only tools but mostly its up to the mechanic, but then again that's why lots of shops are 90 plus a hour in labor

@@payableondeath9091 I think the one thing that the Canadian UB did not do well is talk about the specific changes the company was going to make based on the feedback. I really like the show, but they just give board room highlights instead of the action plans. So, maybe that's part of the larger scale changes they are making as a company and it just didn't make it to the show because they're more interested in the life stories than the final business changes.

yeah i was kinda thinking like, why is he even having to pay for the tools the company is using on their own cars a daily basis? thats fucked up. is the garage not ownned by the taxi company? or is he the owner of the garage and subcontracted by the taxi company to work on only there cars? and the cars themselves..what is this owner operator thing? does that mean the drivers own their cars? so if they retire or something theyre stuck with these orange n green cars? it sounds like the business is held together by the employees themselves. making the employees pay for everything while theyre just collecting their fees for using the name & taking their calls basically
