Working in disguise forces the Executive VP of Sunnybrook, Malcolm Moffat, to look at hospital services with new eyes when he meets Danny the over-worked painter, who struggles to keep up with never-ending fixes...
The Bosses in Undercover Boss Canada are so miserly! They dole out peanuts and yet the Canadian employees are so grateful and thrilled. I've lived in Canada for over 10 years and I know Canadians generally are a satisfied lot! The Bosses in Undercover Boss USA are so very generous with the rewards for the employees. The sponsors are richer perhaps!!
But - sponsors or not - the free advertising of this show is incomprehensible. Even if they gave everyone 10k cash, it would pail in comparison to the fact they’re on a national show w a free ad - forever, here on RU-vid.
There is nothing more rewarding than the acknowledgement from higher up that you are doing an amazing job. There are so many more employees that need to be acknowledged and praised for their hard work and dedication
I also suffer from mental and physical health problems and I know that without art in all its forms, I would not be alive today! That may sound completely over the top but I know that without this, I would have stopped fighting and I also know that my beautiful Mum would have not fought for 11yrs to beat cancer without her amazing art!
Daina is a hero- one of the millions of unsung heros that go unacknowledged but still proud of her work. Her children are blessed to have her as a mom, as well!
That beginning statement of .. "How do we get to 95% occupancy?" No one wants to be in hospital .. that is the last place they wanna be (minus the grave)
I prefer the grave to the hospital any day. Hospital visits had been a routine for last couple of decades first for my Dad and presently for my mother. I hate the therapy that has more focus on managing the symptoms than healing. Neither radiation nor chemo worked for my Dad. A teetotaler, he just suffered unimaginable pain - perhaps more than he would have suffered without those treatments. At least this hospital seems patient focused. We have factories here (if not slaughter houses) that are efficiently(?) working to run their occupancy above 100% and have waiting lists. They recommend you treatment that you do not require because they know you will definitely come later for what you really need. That first happened in my father's case and couple of years ago in my mother's case. Since I am educated (Engineer) and read everything - theory and test reports - first hand, I could get the Doctors to do the right procedures in the right sequence. If they get angry or something we change hospitals - sometimes traveling 1000s of Kms. I have even heard of cases where Doctors rob doctors. So, no point talking about common man. We are a lawless territory and not a nation with a constitution and law. I do not want us to become a super power (!) unless we clean up ourselves first. I do not think we will ever become one but I think we do not deserve to be one too. Slight difference. thanks, regards,
I work in a hospital and the bosses straight treat you like shit unless you kiss their ass... the last employee of the month plays on his phone watches t.v.... it's SAD that those of us that work hard are crap ... it's wrong
Well done Canada to your sanitation crew I can tell you that I have worked extensively in the US and Ireland and neither country comes close to your cleaning standards! 👏👏👏👏
I hate the whole treat and street culture of the hospitals because insurance companies say if a person has a certain disease or injury they only need to stay in the hospital for a certain amount of time of just get some antibiotics of some form of quick treatment in the ER and released to take care of themselves at home.
I wonder who is keeping these CEOs chained to their desk. I wish they could just stand up and go into the businesses whenever they want to see what’s going on.
First lady hit too close to home for me. I was a qualified nurse but last year after beating cancer for 11yrs, my beautiful Mum died from an infection she got from the hospital and unbelievable as it sounds, they denied treatment and nutrition because they would have to admit guilt. She was my idol and my inspiration to keep going regardless of hardship. I hope that she is proud that I am her daughter, even if life didn't go the way it was planned 😔💗💗💗
Your Mother loves you and is proud of you. The only thing you can physically do is to pursue litigation- but that’s a battle of financial and emotional weight you need to consider. I’m so sorry. Either way, your Mother loves you. You will see her again, and she will be in great health. She will be at her best.
thank you for sharing about your mum. I'm sooo sorry that your mum died due to the hospital's negligence. I took care of my dad for several years when he had alzheimer's before he died, and sadly, several times when he had to go to the hospital I caught and corrected several life threatening hospital's negligence that would have killed him. sadly, like you stated, the hospitals rarely admit and take any responisibility for their mistakes, and instead they cover-up and deny any and all wrong doing. also after talking to many attorneys and being repeatedly told that none would take my case, but never given any reason why. finally, one attorney after again being told that he would not take my case, at least was honest enough to tell me, the reason his firm would not take my case, was because it is nearly impossible to sue any hospitals or doctors and win, because its nearly impossible to find any witnesses, doctors, etc, to collaberate, or confirm any evidence about your case. couldn't believe, and didn't like that attorneys answer, but at least finally got an attorney to give me an answer. though for now it offers little comfort and solace, I believe my dad, and your mum, are in a better place, free from pain and the injustices of this world, no longer suffering, and they have eternal peace, thank God for you, and other good, kind-hearted, caring souls, like exemplified on "undercover boss". may God bless you, and your dear mum, and my day, may they rest in peace.
Yeah, but as someone who trains people as apart of their job, I sometimes have to remind myself that at one point I was them. That the things I do on the regular and are second nature, did not always come naturally to me and I would prefer they be slow and accurate than fast and making mistakes
This guy does a better job than a lot of them - he sees not only ghe personal stuff, but the professional element, too. What always disappoints me, though, is there's no institutional ripple, even. All the painters have to deal with bashed-up walls - so where is the remedy for that? Where is the equipment for the groundskeepers to make "seen? clean!" easier and more efficient? I think the cleaner and the art therapist are doing fine with what they have. Think about what we didn't see, though. Reception, the "vampire" [who comes in and draws blood every morning], ambulances, mid-level doctors' lounges [where you see the person the patient doesn't see], the offices. et , et c. I don't think he actually knows any more about the hospital he helps run than he did before the week started. Well, it's a thoroughly managed environment that he visitx, so why expect more than there is? sigh.
Motivating ppl. with more money for there work they doing , seems a good idea....pay goes down or you lose your job altogether , but food and anything else goes up ....not fair
Hard to understand how any health care facility would not have a lid on the toilet. When we flush, fecal-borne microscopic water droplets fly 10 feet in every direction, landing on everything in their path. Put lids on toilets and it would be easier to believe that sanitation is a top priority.
I once was walking down the street next to a hospital when a mental patient once got one of the staff to bring me in to visit him, he was very nice and very polite, we spent hours talking and playing card games... Never knew his name and I still believe he was a real good but lonely chap. Wish they would have had a hostage policy back then
you are special and god will put a special place in his heart for you to talk to a total stranger i bet that day bring a bless in ur heart NICE WORK xx
They need to raise the pay for their stna by 13.00 an hour. Health care in hospital for staff should be free. Stna should not have more than five patients. All medical staff need educated on love, respect, kindness to patient
They might think about getting some real food for the patients instead of Chicken Salad Sandwiches! The food at Sunnybrook reminds me of food at a childcare center.
It's some body's 1st day and their a little slow Dur ever heard of new employee cool down time When you enter a new job in order to pick up speed you need to how the place runs You can't just jump in 1st day and do the job like you've been there 9 years It usually takes about 2 weeks before you get the feel of the job
I don’t agree with the statement that the one gentleman made that it is too difficult to interact with their 10,000 member organization if they don’t interact with them on a regular basis ( ie: in the board room ) I think that as a business you have to make the effort to employ people who can interact on a regular basis if you want to succeed your in suggestions, policies, and ethos are great on paper but it’s a different story to actually make it work in reality.
they sometimes do, most people that work actually enjoy working and take pride in their jobs, especially services workers.... 98% of companies prefer workers that desire more than money and that's what most workers work towards
Why do none of these shows, whether in the US or Canada, ever mention corporate salary reduction?!? If they can’t figure this shit out without an “undercover” tv show they are showing & proving they’re incapable of doing their jobs effectively & efficiently.
Wow. I just had show on in background, hardly even listening: KAPOW! How inappropriate to start discussing how "difficult it must be to be single mom. Single Mom." She handled it well.
@@andrewnguyen4826 It appears, as I'm watching it again..that I was responding to the fact that somebody put HER on the spot about her STATUS. She hadn't emphasized it, they had. (Judging by my own phrasing). However, I can see how at first glance-- you misinterpreted it to mean that I was remarking on her behavior. 👍
Literally spent more money on giving them the tools they needed that should have been there in the first place than actually giving back to their employees…. FAIL
This hospital cleaning staff need tech hospital in new Brunswick. Here all they do spot clean here that why there lot staff infection here. They are waste tax payer money. More training here in lot area in hospital here.
I'm sorry. I love the food service worker. However...the heavy breathing over those sandwiches...all the chatter/open mouth laughing... they need to wear masks over their mouths/noses.
totally agree with the mask suggestion. With Covid it is even more important. And when flushing the toilet I think they should close the lid before they flush
This was taped years before covid-19. Why did they let him work on the kitchen floor without a hairnet for the facial hair??? That's the first mistake right there! The last thing a patient needs is getting a piece of someone's beard in there food. I'm only 13 minutes in and the undercover boss is worried about fn scoops instead of extra hairnets....
Yes, everyone even breathing around food contaminates it. I don't think people know that. Example, which is weird, if you don't change out your toothbrush or sanitize it after certain amount of times, everything else you do in the bathroom has contaminated that toothbrush. It's fucking insane, with the human eye can't see it, doesn't mean shit.
Very cheap boss. Only $5000 for the lady kids education? They all should get at lease 10k or more. Hospital make so much money. 10k is nothing to the boss. I would run far far away from that CHEAP BOSS.
I'm sorry, but, providing the necessary tools to do the job is NOT a reward for hard work and dedication! My ears would bleed hearing the squeaking while the "boss" walked by. Can you say tight wad boys and girls?
Jesus was not christian, FYI, he was middle eastern and never spoke a lick of english, he spoke Hebrew... If you don't like that then you are worshipping the wrong religion.

Don’t feel bad I am a physician and I hate my life you can switch jobs with me if u like haha. In all seriousness people glamorize being a physician in all reality it’s a bunch of extremely stressed out no sleep angry people in a contained basement with no windows and everything is just all white a person starts to think there in a crazy house. Then everyone hates u because either they don’t have a job and somehow they blame u for that or especially if ur a woman like me the other moms don’t really like being friends with me bc there husbands always say omg she’s so hot she’s younger then u and she makes serious money I am a orthopedic surgeon so it’s a lose lose situation I hate my job and I hate the way the other moms treat me if there husbands are rude to them what does it have to do with me and it makes me feel uncomfortable bc they say it right in front of me don’t use me to punish ur wives and then men are so argumentative with me bc I am apparently more educated with them and that means I should be punished bc I make more money then them and woman are never supposed to make more money then men because here in America apparently woman don’t mean as much as men
