These "expansion fittings" seems like a temp fix as the O-rings will eventually fail, by rot or by deflection. Rags work well to clean and sandpaper removes the burrs. I think over twisting the pipe as the glue is setting will weaken the glue, just twist 1/4 turn to make sure the glue is spread evenly and let it set up. I also give it a light flush tap with rubber mallet to make sure the male and female ends are tight together.
I am Chinese woman and English is not very well, but I still try to understand more your trainings class, You did very good job and perfection teaching, keep going do your bests for you can, love 😄😂
Very cool fitting. Red hot is the best cement available and I never used pvc primer in my life. Never had any issues. I do sand and clean all my joints. That’s it
Yes we’ve done 90s repairs before...those are great when you want to put a shut off valve on the surface!!! Thanks for your support and supporting our channel!!!
What is the life expectancy of the O-Rings used in the slip connector, I think about three are used? Do you need to use Plumbers grease on the O-rings before installing. So Life expectancy and do you grease the O-rings. Thanks..
Excellent video. I need to add in a wye connection to the sewer line in my front yard, and the 4" inch pipe will have no flexibility give. Thus appears like it might be a good solution--------- Could I add the expansion coupling on the upstream end of the y and then use a regular coupling on the downstream end. That way I could fit in the precise length and then expand it to connect? Will this work? Also I am using ABS Schedule 40 pipe and fittings. Want to make sure this will be viable and code legal in California codes? Many Thanks. Your idea could be a life saver for me. Interested to hear your feedback.
I’m not sure they sell these in a 4 inch diameter for septic pipes typically you use a rubber grommet and you slide it up on the one side of the pipe slide that pipe down to the exact fit and then slide the rubber grommet back halfway up! I hope this helps and I’m thankful for your support!
No worries brother, what looks normal to me not necessarily means it looks normal to you. Keep posting nice videos! I like to use soaked rug with degreaser followed by one with rubbing alcohol to keep that grease out😊
LOL there is a lot of debate on this topic however,,, I have found primer use before glue holds up longer over time than just glue. Thank you for your support!
only thing I would be concerned with here is it looks like you used Christy's blue glue--I have seen that fail after 10-20 years and fittings get blown apart on an irrigation system.
