I was just about to say Barbara was arguably one of the great underrated final girls of all time. She never comes up in conversation, but she absolutely owned that second half of the movie. She started off fairly strong, but ended like a damn boss. The polar opposite of the original Barbara!

heather langenkamp will always be the ultimate final girl. Shes in multiple movies with one even being meta af, she inspires a new generation to keep the fight going and she doesn't take any shit. It was so great seeing her take Freddy on (someone i was deathly afraid of like i couldn't look at his face it scared me) and whopping his ass if i do say so myself. It put me on a journey to face my fears at such a young age. I still look to the character of Nancy till this day for inspiration

Yea im a weird one. Freddy vs Jason i was going Freddy all the way. Jason wasn't scary until like party 3. M.m is good too but yes h20 was ass. I think they're was another crappy one but it alludes me. Ppl rag on Freddy 2 but it has SOME value to it and its at least entertaining. Wes cravens new nightmare was a great experience. Im not ashamed to say it blew me out of the water even to this day. I think as far as movies that r just plain scary u can do better than Jason or mike. Yea when ever i go to a camp site im uneasy but when every i dream im always in guard 🤣

I think 1 of the most famous original final girls of all time is Dorothy, from The Wizard of Oz. She survies a tornando, has to navigate a weird land, fight a witch trying to kill her, and ends up winning. All while taking care of a dog.

Tree Gelbman from Happy Death Day and the sequel. I've never seen a final girl learn quantum physics to survive the story. Kinda blew my mind the first time I saw it.

Ginny was my first thought. Amy Steele doesn’t get enough credit. Her character wasn’t a goodie two shoes final girl since she was tardy and very interested in Paul. She was tough and intelligent. Her background in child psychology also factors into the plot as well. She’s definitely one of the reasons Part 2 is one of my favorites in the series.

Idk Ginny while she’s a fan favorite she’s underrated in the series. More people like Tina or Chrissy or the sister from part 4. I think Alice is a perfect pick she has such a transformation in the movies such a great arch.

One of my favorite things about hush is the simple but poignant world building like when she had the crossbow and you saw the notches like how many kills he had with it or something you don't really get told what it is but you assume I love shit like that.

My favorite underrated Final Girls: *Possible Spoilers* 5. Cecilia - "The Invisible Man" She puts up with some abusive *sh*t* from her ex-husband and then turns the tables on him. Bravo 👏 4. Alice - "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 & 5" She's the typical shy and timid teen who gains the powers of her dead friends to defeat Freddy. Yay for the power of friendship! 3. Tara & Sam - "Scream 5 & 6" Tara survives a *brutal* attack in Scream 2022. Then some more in Scream 6. I'm convinced Tara and Sam (and Chad & Mindy) are cyborgs. Lol 2. Grace - "Ready or Not" She gets to play a game with her in-laws. And she's the "game". I love her final line in the film while she puffs on a cigarette. 1. Ginny - "Friday the 13th Part 2" She uses psychology to defeat Jason instead of force. Damn! How dumb is Jason?!

To answer your "question" about Jason, it's implied in the early movies that, in addition to being physically disabled, he's mentally disabled. Essentially think Sloth from Goonies turned into a bad guy.

Chris Higgins is way up there on the list of final girls for me. She’s the best one in the series. Sure she screams a lot and is directly responsible for all of her friends murders, especially Rick who wants to leave but she convinces him to stay. That said she bests Jason on numerous occasions and delivers the best ever kill on Jason- a Jason who for me is the best and most intimidating Jason of the entire series. She gets a little help from the biker at the end, but that is justified as Jason had made the mistake of not finishing him off. Chris is #1 in the most underrated final girl for me

Kirsty Cotton is definitely a great final girl, and she's not even the same character that Kirsty was in the book:) If Nancy Thompson's lost older sibling was a sister, I totally see it being HER even more than Ginny Field--if EVER there was a child of John Saxon and Ronee Blakely in both looks and personality, it's Kirsty;) And Kim Hammond in 'Prom Night', I love everything about her and my heart NEVER fails to BREAK at the end of that movie!

A strong character for me isn’t someone’s who’s physically tough, but rather someone who’s a well rounded and interesting person to watch. A lot of modern attempts at this arguably reduce the women to a snarky weapon rather than a real person you could imagine coming across. At least in the 80’s those tough girl examples felt more sincere. So much modern writing comes across so overly editorialized. I don’t even care if someone ends up a damsel in distress as long as they’re a compelling believable character.

Katie Stevens (Haunt - 2019), Airlie Dodds (The Furies - 2019), Betty Gilpin (The Hunt - 2020). All of them great, but my favourite would probably be Hayley Griffith (Satanic Panic - 2019). Although choosing is difficult. There are so many. Severance, Green Room, and Hush, for example, have fantastic Final Girls.

Kirsty is a solid choice! I’d be remiss if I didn’t counter that with Nancy from NoES; she was one of the first aside from JLC + Halloween. Nancy is just entertaining. Completely underrated the character from Friday the 13th part 2 Ginny; technically she defeats him Alice just brutalized some crazy old lady.

Dang! You guys really left out some good names and movies. Also, I don't care what anyone says, I've seen hundreds of hours of indie extreme cinema. Stuff that makes Salo and A Serbien Film look like children movies. That being said, the gRape scene in the Last House Remake (unrated) is one of the most uncomfortable moments I've ever experienced from a movie. It just goes on so long. I remember saying very loudly, "Alriggggghhhttt! We fucking get it!" Then it went on for another 2 or 3 minutes. I think it threw me off because I was expecting a mainstream remake, and actually ended up getting a very brutal and sad movie. I prefer it over the original. It's up there with The Hills Have Eyes remake.
