Here we look at an Airplane's Pressurization System.
We see why Pressurization is required on a jet aircraft. We look at how pressurization is done using the Outflow Valve and how the system functions.
The working of the system in different phases of flight is also covered along with the components of the system. A description on Cabin Altitude is included giving an idea on how much cabin altitude should be. The causes of failure of the system are also shown.

It was not explained quite correctly. The oxygen content in air is the same at all altitudes (air is around 21% oxygen even at 30,000+ feet). But the "partial" air pressure (as it's called) at these high altitudes means we cannot breathe the oxygen sufficiently. So its air pressure rather than amount of oxygen that is the issue.
@illinnear7233
@illinnear7233 2 месяца назад
@@TheTommowg You are correct in that the content of oxygen in the air is the same irrespective of height, but I'd like to mention volume of air here as well. Just to clarify, available oxygen decreases with altitude, which is correct, since air oxygen becomes less densely packed the higher you go (since air pressure decreases). This however decreases oxygen per unit volume, or in other words, oxygen spreads out more (still the same volume), and thus the availability of oxygen decreases. Air pressure is thus related to oxygen availability, not content unless you account for per unit volume, and I believe that is what he meant to relay, but failed.

So why doesn't the cabin pressure break apart the plane due to lower ambient air pressure?

Why cabin altitude maintain 8000ft while oxygen pressure (15.4psi) at this altitude less then the human body required(19.5psi)?
@JxJAVIATION
@JxJAVIATION 2 года назад
The oxygen available at 8000ft is sufficient, safe and comfortable as well for the human body.

It is not true that the human body cannot survive at low pressure. It is the oxygen content of the breathable gas that limits survivability. All of the Apollo missions were flow in a pure oxygen environment at 4 psi.....equivalent to just over 30,000ft
@JxJAVIATION
@JxJAVIATION 11 месяцев назад
Yes should have mentioned the oxygen availability in that statement!
@JohnSeyler
@JohnSeyler Год назад
This is a great video explaining but there is one issue. The amount of oxygen doesn’t decrease as you ascend. The issue is the lack of pressure at higher altitudes. The lack of pressure at higher altitudes means your body isn’t able to “consume” as much of the atmosphere which includes oxygen.
@JxJAVIATION
@JxJAVIATION Год назад
Thank you for the information. With reference to the human body I meant that the oxygen available is not sufficient.
