Even if it uncommon there’s still a lot of parents who very much do not have their children’s best interest at heart, this law helps protect those children, I think this law will prevent much more damage than it could cause

In fact, if their family ever found out, it is very likely they will suffer some form of violence. Now these trusted teachers will be compelled to disclose the student's new religious identity, even though they know it will cause harm to the student. Talking to students about ANYTHING sexual can quickly land a teacher in hot water, especially male teachers. Sometimes I just like to understand things a little bit better, and be able to see both side sides. I do know there is some kind of percentage of kids that could never have a conversation with their parents based upon perhaps premature conversations about it they have witnessed, that just happened to come about along the way based upon maybe the reactions or the comments that their parents make. It is kind of sad to hear that a child would feel safer talking about their own sexuality with their teacher or administrator at school, then their own parents because and based upon fear. It’s just a sad reality all the way around, I’m not one for government over reach by any means at the same time I would never want a child to be abused or minimized or rejected either. It just creates such a polarization in trying to figure it all out because you don’t want to hurt anyone and you don’t want to point fingers at anyone either. I do want to certainly give thanks and credit to those parents, that can always have good own honest and open conversations with their kids, and being open and accepting to their hearts and feelings though.

Coming out is a very personal event and no one has the right to "out" another. Kids need to have the conversation with the parent when they are ready, and they should have the safety of talking to a teacher about how to do that without repercussions.

No, that is not what they are saying. They are simply saying that a school counselor can work with a teen to come out to his or her family rather than betraying the trust by outing a student when they aren't ready. This law says that it's up to the kid to determine who gets to know. If the kid suspects their parents to not have their best interest in mind if it comes out if course the teacher telling the parents would be bad for the kid. This law protects that from happening it gives power to the kid on who gets to know. Consent. If the kid doesn't feel ready to come out the kid shouldn't be forced to come out.

The California law recognizes that Students are diverse and have diverse orientations. No school is telling a child anything about their gender. They are simply providing the support that these kids need in figuring out how to come out to family. It also protects these kids from potentially abusive parents. School HAS to be a safe place for kids who can't tell their parents and whose parents are too thick and self absorbed to notice their child is going through something.
