Making it real for you in your World is what it is all about. I have listened to the birds in the forest and observed the planets, Moon and stars for decades. I know the feeling of solitude and know the feeling of a companion. Thank you for showing the greatness that is out there to be enjoyed.

I completely understand ! Many years ago when I was in high school I normally walked to and from by way of the road but then happened upon a trail through the woods that would cut twenty to thirty minutes off my time. The big problem though was that the trail had a fork, right side went to school, left side went deeper into the woods ! I loved to spend time in the woods, so much so that I took that left side too many times and come close to not passing ! I don't think my mother understood my dilemma, but dad did. I've had people ask me what I could possibly like about being out there all day by myself, and even if I could give an answer to that, they still wouldn't understand. Thanks for sharing and take care.

Ken Gamble I’m a women & I know women can be quite demanding & stressful. We like to talk a lot. Often too much. Me too. That’s why I try to take a break from everything on Sunday. No people, no calls, nothing. If I don’t do that, I’ll get like a overheated machine. And be like my dear gender comrades😖

I grew up in the woods as a kid.. I was never home unless it was to sleep a few hours or in the winter when it was bitter cold. Other wise I was in the woods just traveling around. I often thought if I had an accident as a kid and never came home, my parents would never have found me.

Greetings from SW Montana... Lonnie, you are a gentle soul and seem like a genuine person. If I were in a crowd, you would be the person I would enjoy really talking with. I solo camp in my tiny Airstream but always look for a primitive location so I can embrace pure nature that humans are so quick to spoil. I share your love for solitude, I see more now when I'm alone in nature. Friends always comment, don't you get lonely or afraid? kind of sad they are missing the point. I take many hikes/kayak adventures with my dog but this year I am going to try short backpacking adventures so have been watching tons of RU-vids to learn all I can before I go... I feel the best things in life are free, you sure can't put a price on these experiences that tend t o stay with us. I learn a lot from you Lonnie, thank you for sharing!

This video was so, so wonderful! I use to spend many hours a week walking the trails near my home and I (like you) find such peace, I feel I fit in no place on earth as much as I do among the trees. I've not been able to get out at all as my 12 year old daughter has terminal cancer and is in her last stages and needs my care all day. I watched this video last night as I laid in bed and I almost cried. I could feel the lovely freedom as you took the camera on this little nature walk. Could you please, when you have time, do a little more of this type of video. It is really the next best thing to being there. Thank you, thank you so much again. I really needed this little excursion.

Hi ya Lonnie! Yes...watching ur channel is a refreshing escape...from work, people, traffic, the rushing, mostly, the noise, the smells. I love the silence, ALL the songs to be heard n nature, even to watch the trees dance and hear them sing. All that is n nature, soothes and feeds my inner self, fulfills all that I crave. I lived n Colorado 6 months and hiked the trails of the Rocky Mountain national forest, longs peak mountain 14,255 ft, hiked 460 miles on the Appalachian trail, ( I liked the appalachian trail, but it was not satisfying because it was up, eat, hike, I’d loved to have just stayed several days at one place and enjoyed, but it was all about the miles (it was awesome, but not my cup of tea) I am alone n my world...here...but not alone with like minded people like you, wooded beards men, Bob hansler (handsler) Dave Pearson. N my world here, I’m unique, different, a few yrs ago, my coworkers finally came to terms on what I’m about (foraging wild edibles, letting lambs quarters, Polk salary grow n my yard, wanting/needing to learn what these channels have to offer) I talk of these a lot. I have no friends, relationships sense 2009, y...those I’ve met were cheaters, liars and thieves, I cannot get back that time and I chose to not waist anymore of what life I have on people like them (I’m 57) ok, wow, ur channel opened up a book Lonnie, sry, back to ur channel....question, u drink from the creek/spring and not treat/boil it, are there no, can’t spell the parasites name??? I knew of keeping warmer with boulder at back and fire n front but not but not about placing fire at base of boulder to cook keeping smoke away from yourself, I love the smell of campfire smoke but not the choking and tears. And that bird, I’ve no idea, flapping its wings slow to fast? Yep, ur video opened me up, like a can of soup placed on a fire unattended, i overflowed. Thank u Lonnie, for this beautiful, wonderful hike, loved the the crunch sound of leaves as I walked. Thank you much Lonnie

I was not concerned about Giardia in this creek since I was on the mountain and I knew that the creek originated probably less than a mile away, This creek was so near it's source that it had little chance of becoming contaminated. Another nick name for giardia is beaver fever due to beaver being carriers for the parasite. I know that there are no beaver above me on the mountain as there are no ponds or lakes above this location. I too was burned out on people several years ago. Slowly my Heavenly Father has helped me to be less critical of others and to learn to accept others in spite of their imperfections. I am no way saying that I have reached perfection in that area but am only saying that with His help i have improved considerably over the last few years. Hopefully with me being able to love others better, I am also more "lovable" myself. As my love grows greater and greater for my Heavenly Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit, I am in turn able to love others to a greater degree.

Aaron Perrott Good for you and may the Lord bless your endeavours. You may or may not be interested but for quite a few years I have used microsoft's windows live movie maker for my video editing. It is very simple but entirely adequate. I have recently dumped windows 7 pro off our desktop and have installed Kubuntu Linux operating system. I am now using Openshot for my video editing along with Blender for some graphics work such as 3D text for the videos. This is quite a bit more versatile for making the videos. Good luck and God bless, my friend.

Thank you Lonnie... Beautiful scenery, fresh streams, and a bit philosophical as well. Just the cure for my O.D.D. (Outdoors Deficit Disorder). Really good editing job BTW.... Keep 'em coming.... "We" need the 'therapy' your video's offer us "city bound" folk. Take care....

What an excellent video brother. For me you glorified Psalm 23, with such a well spoken philosophy of why you love the wilderness. I too forsake the crowds and vanity fairs, and enjoy allowing the Lord to serenade me with His still, small voice in the wilderness. Just wish I could drink the water like that lol (I do if I canoe far enough into the back country but doesn't happen often enough). Great discussion on fire reflectors, our fire restrictions are finally behind us! Keep them coming Lonnie, until . . .

Canesser Thank you friend. There is very few places conducive to serious communion with God for me than when out in the woods

***** I totally agree, the wilderness places have always been a place of testing as well as refuge, from the prophets, to John the Baptist, to our Lord. During His ministry He spent much time in Gethsemane praying, away from the crowds and the tumult and in the quiet places where He could commune with the Father. Good food for us to follow those examples.

You capture the love of nature quite well; the forest has always felt like home. You are very lucky to live in the area that you do - many streams in my area are so polluted one would certainly get very sick drinking from them. Alaska looks beautiful!

@Far-North-Bushcraft-Survival 9 лет назад
dontcallmetravis Thank you. I felt very fortunate to have been able to record that clip. I just wished that I had some how been able to get my remote microphone up close to the log where the grouse was. If you turn the volume way up you can hear the wing beats in the video but still doesn't sound anything like the real thing at all. There is a hollow "booming" or "drumming" sound that occurs with each wing beat in real life that just isn't picked up in this recording.
