I know almost everything from carbs but i still enjoy watching youre videos and maybe everytime learning even more about scooters! Love ur videos keep it up!
one way to check the main along with all that was suggested is to go up an incline or small hill that will make the engine work a little bit. If acceleration up the hill is worse than it usually is - your main is too lean. If acceleration is better than ever or better than it should be, your main jet is too rich. In fact, if you can go up the small hill/incline at speeds approaching your top speed on the flat, you are over-jetted. Excessive four-stroking on a flat or on a slight downhill would suggest main is too rich as well. hard starting when engine is hot, suggests main is too rich as well.
They probably will never get a chance to read this message but you don't have a fantastic job and I've been working on scooters for quite a few years in Maryland so I totally agree with you
Hello! I have a Buddy 50 cc scooter. It runs great except for sometimes it hesitates a little in the sense that it will turn off at strange times when I am going lower speeds or it will not turn on.. In order to get it to turn on I carry a little screw driver and carb cleaner and I will take off the air filter cover and spray the intake with carb cleaner and put it back on. Then I go to start and it starts VERY good. It was just brought to a shop who charge like $200+ for a carburetor cleaning and spark plug replacement. The shop is called Boca Scooters… I am NOT convinced that they did honest work but I don’t know know for sure. I would like to have it turn on normally. (without having to have to spray the carb cleaner every time) I believe that I need to work on the carburetor again or get replaced altogether OR get a valve adjustment. I would like to bring it to a different shop but I don’t know really where to start. Gas is clean, premium used (50CC 2018 Buddy) Carb JUST got cleaned but NOT positive they did honest work…….. Spark plug all new. Where should I start from here?
Good very basic explanation. Getting into real tuning and you will need to know a lot more about the different circuits and the difference in needles, emulsion tubes, velocity of air flow, air density ect ect... I'd like to see someone tune a 34mm flat slide to a full race ported 86cc AM6 for 80°F 30% humidity at 1,100 ft elevation 😂 Throw in some ignition mapping and then you will have my full attention 😜
hello was wondering what size carb a should buy , i was thinking a 20mm polini . i have a 98 jog that a did a molossi 70 top end kit a pipe oil pump block off cdi upgrade. stock air box. i put a 96 main jet in my stock carb and my top end power plutters a little, so was want to buy a better carb. thanks great vids
I have a Super 8 moped I purchased for my daughter, it had been seized because of a faulty 2 stroke oil pump, the guy replace the oil pump and decided to get a 75cc big bore kit without getting the necessary jet kit for the carb (or so I am lead to believe), it has a sports exhaust and a sport air filter on it. Now my problem is that the bike starts perfectly, ticks over lovely then pulls away fine, then a couple yards down the road the bike just dies. I believe its the main jet thats the issue. I purchased a mikuni carb for it but when it arrived it was the push in variety not the bolt in sort. So I thought ok I will just swap the jets over.. No.. different thread sizes.. the mikuni is larger and will not fit. So I am a bit stuck now. I have both the idle and main jets pulled and in my hand (including the stem on the main jet), the idle jet reads as 35 (this is one long jet not a stem with jet screwed in) and the main jet reads as 85 (and is in a stem that it can be unscrewed from) however I have no idea what size it should be for the 75cc big bore nor where i can find out where to buy the smaller thread size jets from PLEASE HELP!! I am going INSANE!! Oh and I liked and subscribed (so please help lol). Also the bike is a two stroke. I also had a plastic disc that i put a hole in and put that in the air filter manifold (so as to restrict air flow) and this did help the bike rev more but it still cuts out. Awesome videos by the way, I am an old biker with a 1000cc Harley, but I know nothing about these scooters. However your video's are a great help. Keep up the great work!
One thing you should check is the oil pump lines and connections, i bought my eton beamer 3 and the dude hooked up the oil tank straight to the carb, and it was overheating constantly untill i blew up the top end and took everything apart to find the oil pump not connected at all.
I'm buying a polini carb 17,5 with 48mm podfilter, Reed, 23mm intake manifold. Which pilot jet should I start the tuning progress? Does the poilini hi-speed variation, new 107mm clutch plus new contra. Need upsetting? And which contra do u recommend? Yellow Malossi? Zuma 50cc 2t
I have a 4 stroke, 50cc. Larger carb, aftermarket pod air filter and exhaust. I recently started having trouble with the engine not reaching higher rpms, this is all by sound, I don't have a tachometer installed yet. Do you think it's compression, exhaust leak, or maybe some trash in my carb? Air filter is clean, new belt and I've already checked my variator. I was thinking it's probably more than one issue. Oh, also stock cylinder, head etc. I haven't put a bbk on yet.
I have a adly silver fox 2 stroke put a big bore 70cc kit on it what carb do I need and anything else would help please someone help with what I'm asking about.........
Hi. I have a girela runner sp 50 - 70 ccm malossi 70 ccm sport 17.5 carburetor main nozzle 84. The problem is that when starting and adding gas, the engine as if it is four-stroke and after some time it goes normally.I also have a new flange and carburetor cleaned. Air filter and lines OK. Can the nozzle be too big?thanks
Good content, so If I have aftermarket carb and intake, do I just want to upjet the main jet until I dont see a performance increase, then stay at the most stable, best performing jet?
off the top of my head im not sure call the shop real quick Paul can get that info for you but ours comes with a set of jets so what's in it doesn't matter as you get a range that will best suit your location and parts on your bike.
Hellow can I ask you something I need a advice for my scouter I have one aprilia sr with morini motor and I have put one 70 cc polini cit one mallosi spring white 6 grammar variator rollers , exust, one free air filter ,main jet 85 but I have 12 mm carburettor What carburettor you suggest me to put ??
Not sure if you have messed around with the 250cc Automatic Chinese motorcycles/scooters... I bought my wife a 250cc Venom and changed the exhaust and going to put a Jet Kit in as well. Do I need to adjust the CVT components as well? Thanks
Is there a carb you can buy for a 150cc gy6 scooter to go with a better or different air filter system that would not need any jetting work or adjustments?
hi, i have a question. i have an speedfight 2 2004 AC vertical scooter. Can i put my original air filter box on maybe like a dellorto 17,5 mm carburettor?
In a situation like you spoke of, overheating, due to leaning out, you could restrict the intake / air filter slightly, causing the jet to be pulled harder, to richen the mixture.. They are many ways to do that, block half of the filter, by wrapping something around it, like a plastic bag, example a 30mm carb, with a finger sized hole should be a starting point, it will work in an emergency! Better than killing the engine...
my gy6 150cc scooter when i cruise at full throttle the engine bogs down but if i leave the throttle and try to give part throttle for 3 times in row the engine runs again ... ( i cant cruise at full throttle more then 15 seconds ) i feel like the engine chocking cant take any more but when i release the throttle the engine like comes to life again ..... i cant find the problem ... if you have any idea please help me because i had nightmare my scooter stops on the highway and fast cars behind me
I understand most of what you are saying. My question is , on a 2 stroke air cooled,(Polini Corsa 72cc on a ELITE), ill put the ring under the spark plug. Are the temperatures the same on air cooled and liquid cooled since the senser is located in different places?
Im sure Im overjetted. Im running a OK 24mm with a uni air cleaner. A metrakit hanbuilt stinger exhaust. The way it is now is more reliable because Im pretty hard on it. Im considering just getting the whole intake side Polini kit you offer and the pipe as well. For that set up, what jets should I start with? Im in MI where the weather averages on the colder side and at pretty much 0 elevation. Thanks
Bought your ncy stage 2 kit with the 70cc big bore and exhaust. I also bought the molosi air filter that fits on my stock airbox. Would you recommend upgrading my stock carb and getting a better air filter with this kit? Or should I just stick with what I've got?
Gotta a 50cc 2 stroke horizontal minarelli. Just installed polini contessa 70cc big bore kit and polini team 3 exhaust. Wanted to know what size carb to get . Was looking at the polini cp carbs. Also can I run my stock intake tube.
