I remember being much shorter than my peers until college. At the age of 14 & half, my bone age was assessed as 12. I wasn't subjected to any hormone treatment. I don't think my case was considered extreme enough, I was just labeled as a late bloomer. I got my growth spurt around the age of 17 and grew up to be 183 cm tall (6 feet). That being said, I understand hormonal treatment is a viable option in more extreme cases.
Woahhh, hey, what did you do for that growth spurt , like did you do sport or have diet? Also how tall were you at 16 before you hit your growth spurt at 17? Please answer - I think I’m similar to you haha🤍
@@ARTHURONESAII got my first driving license when I was 16 & 3/4 and my height was listed as 167 cm. So, it's safe to say that I grew about ~15 cm from the age of 17 onwards without treatment. I think both my parents were somewhat late bloomers too (they started puberty late as well) , but my case was a little more extreme than both of them. As for sports or diet, nothing special nor extreme but I did have a good balance of both. I hope this helps - Louis
@@Brokenfsk I remember having lots of stress about my height and praying to make it to 172 cm (the ideal height I had in mind). Once I had surpassed that mark, I felt there were not only advantages but also disadvantages when getting into the tall-ish category.
I had the bone age of a 5 year old when i was 10..... horrible doctors waiting that long to treat me. They prescribed my mom the wrong size of needles and didnt teach her how to inject, so i begged my mom to stop very early in treatment. I'm a 5ft tall man at 24.
I'm 13 right now and 4'5". I just wish we find an insurance that can cover the shots because some do but stuff keeps happening thats making us lose the insurance. I had the shots for a few months then lost it. Earlier this year I got them back again for a month or so and lost it. I just keep getting bullied and it's ruined me.
Is there anyone on here that had growth hormore treatment (genetropin-Pfizer) in the 1990s, would like to know if they've had any long term effects that could be connected to it such as arthritis at a young age, but diagnosed after you finished the treatment
I was on genetropin for 12 years (1980-1992) started with human growth hormone (HGH) for 2 years, until studies found a high percentage of people on HGH contracted CJD and so synthetic growth hormone was used for the last decade, an injection a day. I stopped taking it as i became a jockey so didn't really want to grow any more haha. No long term side effects thus far
Hi my name is reem and I’m 10 my bone age is 13 and 6 months I have early puberty and I’m have to make a decision and I don’t know what to do I could end up being 144 cm as an adult my predicted height is 146 and I could have growth hormones though I will get fully grown breast at 10 years old or I could install a chip in my hand wich will stop my period and estrogen in my body and take growth horemones so I can grow I will be short I ether way but I definitely do not want to be the night of a nine year old my whole life the decision is in my hand please advise
omg the growth hormone simulation test is the worst thing ever. I was at the doctors for 3 hours and it drains your whole entire body. and I think the protein. plus the medicine they give you makes you nauseous. and I threw up 3 times at a pizza place. lucky in the bathroom. and when you feel that way from the test afterward and you throw up when ever I moved like a lot I always had to throw up so I walked without bending my arms or legs keeping my head straight closing my eyes. it's the most awful thing ever
Simply Karlie bitch stop complaining I. was there for 8 hours cuz my blood pressure dropped to 80 over 40 and I passed out twice. They also missed the needle twice and had to redo the iv cuz it got moved
My daughter is 14 and she's only 4 ft. 9 inches and my son is almost 12 and he is only 4 ft. 6 inches. I've taken them both to the pediatrician and pediatric endocrinologist over the years, and they have never been too concerned, especially with my daughter. They were more willing to be aggressive in treatment for my son. When we told him he would have to get injections, he said no he didn't want that. But now that he is older he is losing his self esteem so we will seek treatment. I have heard it's expensive though. 🙁
It's a late response, but it might help someone else. First of all, what is your height, their Dad's? I'm short, hubby avg, so our kids (female) avg adult size is ~5'4." One of our daughters was diagnosed because she kept falling behind in height and weight. At age 5 and on, she would grow no more than an inch, but started treatment at 10 1/2 (bone age 8) since it was very noticeable by then & we finally had decent health ins. She's currently 13 & just under 4'8." Because she started treatment late & puberty was right around the corner, her goal height is now 5 ft. Dr said girls don't grow much more after menstruation, and it is pointless to keep treating much longer after that. It is expensive! $4K/mo without ins (for meds only!). With ins., 8-10K/yr covers premiums, deductibles, dr visits, labs, meds. It really depends on your financial situation, health ins coverage, dosage amount, etc.

I think i have this condition too. Ive always been small but ive never really looked into it because both my parents are small. But i actually i think I have this condition now because i am 16 and in college and i look like a 10 year old and my voice has not at all deepened since i was 12. I have gone through puberty a little bit as i have hair under my arms and alot of hair in another place which i am not going to quote. I dont have any facial hair and im only like 5,2 of 5,3 in height. Also im a boy so its really hard for me when your in college when u look 10 and everyone else looks 16 and 17. I need help fast. Makenna Leigh they scanned my bone the first time when I was 13 and said my bone age is 5 than I went to a other they said no the first doctors were wrong and Said my bone age was 11 not 5
I'm so pissed because I have been BEGGING my parents to look into this because at 19 I'm 5'4" or 5'5" and I know there's something wrong with me. It makes my depression even worse than it already is and literally every other person at my college is at least 3 inches taller or more than I am.
Santiago Santos Prendergast You don't have growth hormone deficiency. You're below average, but you're not incredibly short like me. I'm 20, and I'm only 4'11, and I have been that way since I turned 13. I've been incredibly insecure about it growing up.
Santiago Santos Prendergast people with growth hormone deficiency without hormone supplements can't even get to that height! I am very offended because my parents could not afford supplementation for me and I am now 23 and 4"7'. Be lucky for your height and don't claim that you have something that people actually have to struggle with.
I'm 34, I started growth hormone treatment when I was 4/5 years old in 1990, daily injections of genetropin(Pfizer) for 9 years... I stopped at age 13 by my own choice ( I asked at age 12 but they told me They wanted to see more progress)... I am 5"1 I haven't grown a mm since I was 13, I was diagnosed with arthritis in my thumbs at 18 which the doctors were shocked about and even at 34 are still shocked about, but when I asked if it could be connected to the growth hormone treatment I was bluntly told no! However look into it because there is no long term research done for this treatment

Daughter started with omnitrope, then humatrope and now on norditropin (all somatropin injections). She started at almost 11 yrs old (bone age 8) and is now 13. She was growing
