Of all the introductions to Schroth I've seen this video has by far been the most easiest to digest and is just very well put together. Good info and good examples! Thanks!

Could you make a video on some basic exercises that work for all types of scoliosis? For example that hanging on the bar seems interesting, and probably works for all types?

I wish I could, but Schroth exercises need to be taught one-on-one by a certified therapist to make sure no harm is done. Some exercises like hanging do apply to most curve types just as you said. But sometimes flexibility issues, other spine conditions, and coexisting risk factors make certain exercises unsafe for individuals. I can't know if someone is doing an exercise that is inappropriate for their body if I just post it online. Depending on where you live I can do tele consults or I can direct you to a Schroth Therapist in your area!

how do you determine which adults would need a brace from those who don't? Is the cheneau-gensingen brace better than the WLC brace or spinecor for adults, and apart from the spinecor are these hard or soft braces? What is the weaning period for the brace since it would most likely atrophy muscles if worn for a long period of time, even if you use a soft brace? Even if an adult can no longer improve their curve, can they still have a chance at reducing their rib hump?

For an adult with mild scoliosis how long would you think it would take to correct the posture? Or to reduce the curve a little? I was told I have a 15% curve and I start therapy soon but I don’t know how long to expect and they do this method there as well.

Why is my PT, who is certified in Schroth, just having me do core work and basic sorts of stretches (exactly what you mentioned would not be enough at the beginning of the video). I quit today because it is a waste of my time and causing me pain.

It's hard to know. Sometimes if you have other things going on besides scoliosis, not all the schroth exercises are safe/appropriate. I would recommend getting a second opinion from another Schroth Therapist if you are able.

Hi there just one question. I have a scoliotic spinal assymetry (thoracic spine 7.9 degrees and lumbar spine 9.32 degrees) I am 20 years old male. Can Schroth therapy reduce my curve and maybe bring it down to zero degrees or at least improve my posture to someone with a 0 degree spine?

Purely degree wise anything less than 10 degrees is not considered clinical scoliosis. However, X-rays do not account for rotation. If you notice asymmetry in your body it’s most likely due to rotation which Schroth could help. I would recommend having a schroth therapist look at your images and assess you for a more detailed idea of what to expect.

My daughter's spine is straighter within 3 months of schroth exercises but she still has right hump when she bends down. Does it take time to reduce hump after spine is straighter?

There are a lot of factors that go into that. She will probably always have a little bit of asymmetry because the spine while improved is not perfectly straight. Schroth breathing does the most to correct rib asymmetry, but is harder to apply safely in S curves vs C curves. I would recommend asking your therapist about if that has been applied. Ribs are more flexible than the vertebra so they can be reshaped, but the amount they will reshape is very much influenced by whether or not her growth plates are still open. Ribs that are asymmetrical at the end for growth can be improved, but will always have some asymmetry because the bone are mature.

Even I have scoliosis problem my waist is slightly curved although people cannot notice it because it is just 20 to 25 degree curve but I feel really awkward looking at that. Current I am 17 year old hope this works for me to improve my posture. Because of scoliosis I am loosing my self confidence but Will try this method surely.

The Schroth Method is great for small curves like yours. My curve is 17 degrees and causes a lot of asymmetry in my waist at rest, but when I correct (which is automatic all the time now), no one can tell I have scoliosis. Except other Schroth therapists ; )

Thank u ...does it work for a scheuermann kyphosis of 55 degre for an adult of 30 years to correct posture?and how can we avoid the kyphosis for tennager who has this disease?

Schroth is great for Scheuermann's kyphosis! It can be managed as a teen, but like scoliosis cannot really be prevented. The cause is not completely known, but may be in part genetic. The best solution is early diagnosis and initiation of Schroth to control it : )

adolescent. The most common type of scoliosis is adolescent idiopathic scoliosis that develops during your major growth spurt. I have worked with congenital and adult onset as well!

Yoga can be very helpful, but some positions have to be adapted. It is always recommended to find a yoga instructor who is knowledgable about scoliosis and how to adjust positions to protect your curvature!
