Still remember my 40/40 range score, ds and range officer were in disbelief and made me do it again. After a second 40/40 the ro challenged me to a long range shot, with iron sights I made it to 500 yards but the ro did 600 yards and I had to do pushups till everyone else was done. Moral of the story if you are good, don’t show it unless you need some apft training on your arms.

I hate using iron sites because it’s a lot harder for me to lock onto a target with it literally the first time they let us go the range with red dots I shot expert the first time

Lol at my old unit we always skipped the practice round and went straight into the qual 😂

PSA, please remove any vertical grips during the evolution as it will hinder your mobility. The vertical grip will get caught on the barricade. You should also never use it as a “bipod” at all unless it comes with one inside the grip.

Simply pay attention to your weapon and the barricade to avoid that.

Why would I not use the grip to support the weapon?

@@Justin-rq6kf not everyone is articulate as you. Humble yourself a little. For the mere mortals like us it is best to remove unnecessary accessories to our weapon except you of course. Perhaps you should try for BUDS

@@thraxberserker9960 the grip is too short to use in the prone position. Add the blockage from the ACH (will block your eyes). Technically using the inserted magazine into your weapon is considered prone unsupported which is longer than the front grip. Try it and let me know what you have discovered. Let’s talk about it

@@Airmanmx1 Plenty of people who aren't Navy Seals can run a vertical grip without major issues, I think something might be wrong with you.

Wait it's not a myth, it's definitely a chance but especially dropping down and letting the MAg slam the dirt or catching all that recoil can and does loosen your lower where the mag goes in, happen very bad to my 10/22 and now I get jam after jam because the bullet is being fed usually pointing higher than the barrel meaning I'm applying a pull pressure on the mag

a ruger 10/22 is an immensely more fragile firearm than an M4 carbine or M16

10/22 with a banana mag and an m4 are not even close in comparison lol

Hahahaha no it won't jam guy. I've been qualifying with the mag on the ground for the last 12 years. Your 22 is not a fighting rifle. 22 rifles are notorious for being hot garbage all by themselves. Dude in the video is right. It's a myth

@jrose2dzl The AR/M-4/M16 lower is a single piece billet. There is no magazine that is going to brand that billet. You might damage the magazine catch over time which is likely the problem with your 10/22. Also check the magazine itself since 10/22 mags are plastic. You may have damaged the catches at the top of the magazine which keeps the rounds down. You can probably bend them back down. AR mags don’t have those and the chance of damaging feed lips is very low without significant usage (we’re talking thousands of rounds).

It is not a "Myth" about using the magazine to support the rifle will cause a malfunction. This "At one time" was a "Slight Problem". They have redesigned the mags and redesigned the mag well to prevent this. On some old model mags and older AR platforms, if you applied too much upwards pressure on your mag it would move up into the path of the bolt and cause a bolt lock. This is also a problem with magazine fed handgunds. Some people will "SMASH" the magazine into the mag well and put the mag into the path of the upper slide. This problem does not happen very often so telling shooter to not worry about it is a good thing. You are better off shooting supported by the magazine then to worry about this problem..

It isn't physically possible to push past the magazine catch limits and bolt carrier rails/feed lip interface with the M4/M16, unless you have seriously-damaged mags. I used to use magazine monopod even with black and green follower mags in the 1990s and early 2000s when doing the old qual. I was SOTIC/Sniper trained, so I did my own thing and taught my guys how to actually shoot.
