It's very lucky for you to see rare species in nature of Singapore! Straw Headed Bulbul is critically endangered bird, but its number in Singapore is stable? Nice! That fact reminds me of another animal... Water Deer is also one of endangered species. Water Deers live in China and Korea(yeah my home country). While around 10,000 of them are known to exist in China, Korea is known to have at least 'ten times' of that number(information in year 2021). AT LEAST. It's because in Korea, general poaching is declining and big predators like tigers and wolves were gone in the wild. Most of big predators were killed by Japan people during World War, or experienced habitat loss and Korean War. How ironic... My country is successfully protecting one of endangered species, because couldn't manage to protect others...

I finally know how to properly pronounce Hindhede.
@LittleRedJungle
@LittleRedJungle Месяц назад
Hahah but apparently there’s an even more proper way to pronounce it!! “Hind-hoo” because it’s named after a Danish person and that’s the Danish pronunciation But I have never heard any singaporean say it that way hahah 😂

Are you an ornithologist? Your videos focus a lot on birds. I once went to the Bukit Timah nature reserve and discovered arowana (likely to be released by some pet keepers), snakeheads, catfish, terrapins, crabs and betta in the water, some monkeys, and even a snake resting on the tree (I kid you not). Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is a bird-lover paradise.
@LittleRedJungle
@LittleRedJungle Месяц назад
Haha nah I’m not an ornithologist - was trained more in general ecology back in Uni! But I do try to talk about other animals too in my other videos!! 😂 And aye yay snakes are dope! Lots of colugos around BTNR too!! Have you seen them there before? Can try to spot them the next time you’re there!!

On one hand, arrowanas are Asian fish. Unfortunately, as House Crows demonstrate, just because we can find them locally in Asia somewhere doesn't mean it won't turn into an invasive species in Asia either... 😅 Also, finding snakes just chilling out there is a gem to be cherished. They are such wonderful little noodles (yes, even the ones that can make me blind).
@eugenelim11
@eugenelim11 Месяц назад
@@crowdemon_archives Well, to be honest, finding snakes can be a scary encounter - even those that are just chilling. I tend to keep a respectful distance from them.
@LittleRedJungle
@LittleRedJungle Месяц назад
@@eugenelim11 haha yeah a respectful distance is always recommended - but I do love it when I get to film these lovely noodles too!

Aiyah , I thought there would be underwater footage ! What a click bait though . It would be a great advantage to see local freshwater species thriving in such water bodies ! Especially when there are a healthy community of aquarium fishkeepers in singapore who would consume such footage in an instance and discussion in community forums here and globally ! Really hope you could do this sometimes in the future , keep up the good work !

I kinda wonder if throwing an underwater drone there requires a permit or permission somehow, because otherwise you might get fined lol
@LittleRedJungle
@LittleRedJungle Месяц назад
Haha yeah like what crow demon mentioned - I’d love to feature some underwater shots but - BTNR/Hindhede is a protected space and you’ll definitely a permit to either go down or throw a camera in!! Hope you still enjoyed the video tho! And aye a fish episode down the line might be something I can look into for sure!! ❤️🐟
