Jason thanks for making this video. Your way of teaching these technics makes it easy to comprehend. Gotta love those models. Funny "I'm just here to look pretty" I have not considered joining Patreon for anyone but I may have to make an exception with you as I have become interested in learning as much as possible about photography and videography. @@JasonLanierPhotography O wow!! You should totally come back and check out the new scenery out here. It’s amazing! I recently did a shoot at a abandon theme park in Seoul. And this week is fashion week in Dongdaemun aka DDP. But since the show is private I was told by one of my model friends that lots of ppl still dress up and hang out in that area. So I’ll have to hit up the streets. We returned to Korea the end of 2021. So it’s been amazing being back. 🥰

I suspect that most pros (including Jason) don't really understand the very basic math of an f stop and what the numbers are. It's super simple, but not explained here.

Lol you are exactly the dude I’m talking about in the beginning of the video. How does understanding the “basic” math change anything about the way your images are taken?

@@JasonLanierPhotography It probably doesn't, but its about understanding what is happening in the lens. If you're going to make a video educating people about what an aperture is, why wouldn't you educate yourself on what an aperture is? f=focal length. f/2.8 = focal length divided by 2.8. Its a ratio that gives the size of the aperture opening. That's why the smaller number gives a larger opening. I think its cool and interesting, but is lost on most.

@@panatela001 as I stated in the video, it doesn’t matter and you agree. Do you want to be a mechanic or a race car driver? I take the time to teach what impacts the shot and my work. The over complication of photography is what turns people off. If it doesn’t impact the final result, why worry about it? That’s pretty silly my man.

@@JasonLanierPhotography A ratio is too complicated? No. One sentence could explain why the smaller number is a larger opening. It's not rocket science. It could have helped you explain it very easily, which would have impacted the FINAL RESULT of the impact of your educational video. No diagrams or graphs. But, you'd rather throw your hands up and act like anyone who understands it is some kind of nerd. Its odd.

@@JasonLanierPhotography First class in my 2 year photography school the instructor was an old newspaper photographer. First thing he taught us was KISS. Keep it simple stupid. LOL I think your Mr. Hanson needs to learn that First ;-) LOL
