"And then, on Friday, my dogs came home.⁣ Let’s be clear, my dogs haven’t cured me. I still feel like absolute craaaaap physically. But seeing them, bouncing around like little rays of sunshine has made all of the difference in my mindset. ⁣

I’m more patient, less frantic. More appreciative, less frustrated. ⁣

I’ve also started to experience a shift in my thinking. I could spend the next 6 months or 10 years waiting for something to change within my body so I can go back to feeling ‘normal’ or I can appreciate all of the amazing things I still have."

Our story started in 2008 when we brought home two tiny husky puppies - Ice & Eve. Through the years so much has changed - we rescued Montana, we got a hatchback. We became known (affectionately) as the “Huskies in the Hatch”. We drove 22,000 km’s across Canada and back. I got sick - and I fought SO incredibly hard to get well again. We lost Eve. ⁣But some endings are new beginnings… and we’re finally ready to start a new chapter of Huskies in the Hatch. Who knows how our story will end... ⁣

I missed this. Sorry lovely. I've had my head (and heart) buried in editing the next video. Maaaaan am I going to be happy when the emotional episodes are done. I'm so glad as well. I really hope this helps others... maybe not in that they have the exact same condition but to help them keep pushing to find THEIR answer.

You have the right to feel angry. No one can know the emotional toll this took on you both. It's difficult when doctors are to arrogant to admit they don't know and they forget their patient is a human. I understand this as I'm a year into the fight to find a diagnosis for recurring Pericardial Effusion. And much like you, my dog continues to save my life. She's an incredible chow full of attitude and sass. May your lives be filled with adventures

It's SO frustrating and I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through something similar. I hope you start to find answers soon. As for your chow - don't I know it! My grandparents had a chow when I was growing up, she was a complete spazz. Lovely but crazy as all hell LOL

I was so chuffed when your account popped up again on Instagram, and I remember discussing all this with you when you came back. I think there will be a lot of people that can’t push for an answer like you did. They’ll be ‘diagnosed’ with a mental illness, fobbed off by narrow minded clinicians, and never find the answer, and conditions like yours remain apparently vanishingly rare because so many of them are buried in other, potentially incorrect diagnoses. I have huge sympathy for clinicians as it is so complicated, and I have a lot of friends who practice medicine, but when the upper levels of medical hierarchy dismiss stuff they can’t figure out as mental illness and stop investigating, it perpetuates the problem. It’s awesome you two can be calm about it and not angry, and hopefully your story can help a load of other people. I hope it’s ok that I’m angry for you, and for all those that are misdiagnosed. You two and your animals are awesome

@@HuskiesInTheHatch I don’t think so! He went down the derma route. He is better now but also taking medication that works for it. It is bloody expensive though! He did gluten free for almost a year and it was finally getting slightly better but one week of gluten and we are down the same path.
@HuskiesInTheHatch
@HuskiesInTheHatch 3 года назад
@@Veronica-ro9hw he really should be tested. One form of celiac disease is almost entirely dermatological (dermatitis herpetiformis) and its just how it manifests. Ie. most people get intestinal issues, I got neurological issues, some only get skin issues.... BUT.... they all still end up damaging your intestines, and run your risks of cancer WAAAY higher.

I am crying just to see you struggle so much and I am sorry to see and hear what u went through. I am sorry that you felt jailed when u had to stay in your room. You are a strong brave woman and you got through it. Dogs are a gift from god. Dogs are gods. And god and the 3 dogs helping you were a blessing and just a heart warming moment. Dogs always bring a joy and happiness in my heart and just something about them that is just amazing. They help to comfort stress, and be there when you need it. I think with a lot of autoimmune conditions there is just so much overlap and everyone presents so differently based on their own physiology. It must be very challenging, BUT (and it's a big but) that doesn't mean they need to treat people like they're being hysterical. I honestly think " I don't know" is a valid answer. West Coast Sonia ♥

Liz sent to this to me - what an amazing story! I see why you are so passionate now :) While your story the symptoms were much more diverse, mine were very similar and I have taken and seen a similar road with others with regards to neurological symptoms. I was assessed for neuro symptoms for about 6 years before a locum for my family doc figured it out. When I have had long stays in the hospital due to other medical conditions on specialty neuro wards in the last decade they have been trying patients on the GF diet (where they cheat as they do not understand why) so the word is starting to get out there! Excellent video!

@@HuskiesInTheHatch no, I figured out the majority of my illnesses on my own. I actually went through trauma with one of my doctor's that really affected me and after years of them not listening, I took my own health into my hands. I'm doing better than inwaa and I was able to heal one of my diseases by 95% but unfortunately I have several others and I may still have a few that I don't know if. I have an older sister and she has many health issues too but she can afford to pay out if pocket, and she has many things too includinaome genetic things that I still need to test for. It's been a difficult process, especially since I don't exactly have the money to change my diet and buy the things that I know could help me. But I will never give up! Sonia & Dustin, I am super pleased that you have an answer and one that is easily treated with diet. I say easily, in respect of other treatments, although I know it can be challenging living with Coeliac disease (I have a young relative with it, the symptoms pre-diagnosis were so severe we thought it was the big C!). I know lots of people who say they are gluten intolerant (self diagnosed), to be honest they make me mad 😠 , they are jumping on the band wagon, of what is a serious medical condition, to be in with the latest food trend. However, the converse of this 'wagon riding' is that the offer in gluten free food has exploded & that can only be a good thing for people like my relative, and of course you Sonia 🙂👏. Of course, a paleo diet requires no special foods and works well for coeliacs but what about those well needed treats 🍰🍝😄. There are so many links with ill health and diet now; keto to treat epilepsy, probiotics to treat depression (the vagus nerve runs from the stomach to the brain.....you get mentally upset & can affect stomach, makes sense vice versa!). Wishing you both many more adventures, continued improvement in health...and of course, lots of happy times with your fluffy kids 😁🐕🐶🐾

What a LOVELY message to wake up to today!! I totally understand the double edged sword of the "self-diagnosed" - on one hand they make it harder for restaurants to understand cross-contamination, but BOY am I glad for all of the extra foods they produce because of them. I'm largely vegan paleo - as my body still isn't processing meat or dairy well, but I'm getting there!! And thank you... to health, happiness... and huskies 😁🐕🐾

I've been glutenfree dairy grain wheat free 8 years but a tiny amount and cc really mess me up I suffered so many things and now my dr say I have chronic fatigue because the rhumatologist cant figure anything else out. Wheat and gluten use to make me sleep 2 full days and I had brain fog and diagnosed with personality disorder anxiety depression but its gluten related I had body numbness was 106 pounds like I was walking in slow motion loose conciousness all the time ugh so scary.. Huskies In The Hatch I didn’t take it . I told my dr to take it . I had already been down that road . I knew I was sick . I thought I was dying . And I knew it wasn’t in my head . It’s sad we have to be treated like this . Your story is amazing! Wow ! God is good . And I’m so happy that you didn’t give up . You are a strong fighter . And a amazing woman . God bless your journey , your family & your dogs ❤️❤️🙏

freedom life yes exactly! Iv always said if I took them and listened to my Dr ,where would I be now . Funny how drs tell us what we feel or how we should feel . Then try to cover up all our issues . Never getting to the issue itself. I diagnosed myself with celiac thyroid disease . Because my drs couldn’t do their job . Yes they were proven by the drs giving me tests .but I had to fight to get them . And go through many drs . Just to bad it’s like this . My dad probably had celiac but his drs refused to test him . He suffered much his life . God bless

Somehow my wife stumbled across your channel and have subscribed. We wish you well and want your channel to succeed. People need to know that Huskies aren't accessories or costume jewelry, they are living creatures and very demanding. We have a Husky named Sky and an America Akita named Ace. We understand and appreciate what you do. Sky was our first and is five years old now. We kind of rescued Sky from a backyard breeder who ran a disgusting meat shop in his backyard, if you could call it a back yard. The conditions were horrible; the three remaining puppies were in their own feces! The guy washed Sky with a hose and dish washing deterrent in front of us and we could she her start to shiver from the cold water. The guy was a complete idiot but we supported his immoral efforts to churn flesh into money (greedy bastard!!). Sky was listed as pure breed with papers but we never received papers, just an image on his cell phone. We were novices and as such a bit ignorant but we knew his operations was complete bull sh!t. Sky was $600....I told my wife we needed to get all three but we couldn't afford all three so we left with Sky and we have no idea what happened to her two sisters. I am sure they were bought but here in Miami, they probably ended up in one of two locations, where most huskies go....the pound or the Redlands (an agricultural area where people just love to dump their dogs, it's horrible). Well, Sky had non stop diarrhea for the first six months and none of the vets could resolve the issue....in the end we panicked and took her to a 24 hour hospital (MVS) and they ran a full series of tests and determined she had ecoli. Two weeks later, no more fishy diarrhea and blood. then a year later she was attacked by a pitbull while walking with my wife in the morning.....she suffered no injuries due to her agility but my wife did, emotionally. That resulted in Ace, the American Akita. Sky fancies herself as Ace's aunt or maybe even mother as she is a 1.5 years older. She will dominate him and tease him even though he is 120 pounds to her 50 pounds. But, when he is feed up with her antics, he lets her know and she responds accordingly, she can be a little devil. Oh, and sure enough, a year ago we were walking the two and a grey pit bull mix came out of nowhere but Ace already sensed the dog and positioned himself to intercept. Ace neck hooked the pit to establish dominance but the pit growled in response which led to Ace pinning the dog to the ground by the neck. The next few seconds seemed like a long time but Ace never relented or let go and the pit could only squirm around on the street (its not as bad as it reads). The owner eventually came out and we separated the dogs with ease because it was only a dominance fight and nothing else. There is so much to learn on dog behavior, etc. It is so important for people to read, watch and learn!! Oh, and where was Sky during this encounter? In the back cheerleadering her big brother on, she is hilarious!

I love everything about this. Well, except for the shitty breeder part. I hate to think we contributed to that industry (back yard breeders) as well, but I cant be sorry because we got all three (now four) of our incredible babies. I would't trade them for the world (or even champion bloodlines). Sounds like your two love and respect each other in a way that keeps them both happy and safe (if not a bit annoyed). Poppy annoys the CRAP out of our two oldies. With Ice being almost 13 and Montana almost 12 they can only take so much of her yipping and bodychecks before they tell her off. But it's cute, they're so motherly to her. And they've grown into quite the little pack. Thank you so much for this lovely story. It's made my day.

NO!!! Not at all... I used to think that all the time.... I'm the weird one that nobody could figure out. BUT, funny enough on House MD they'd always magically figured it out in 42 minutes LOL.
