We’re getting there Iona! Some fine tuning on Monday and we’ll be grand! For all those watching this we took the 75g Recoil F4’s and tipped them slightly less. Iona is very very sensitive to anything too heavy and too stiff. In order to get the weight she wanted with the right flex this was the best option. UST agreed also when we went on the hunt for an old set of Recoil 80’s. They’ve discontinued them and the Dart is effectively the replacement. I have Iona playing her irons a tad flatter as she fights left and the lofts are blended in. 33 degrees for the 7 iron. Swing weight is C9.5 on my swing-weight machine. They’ll be sitting about D0.5 on Titleist scales. Remember, there’s NO standard in golf, none!
Hi Iona, I just found your channel and have been impressed with your style and way you present your content. I'm a (very) senior golfer from Cape Cod in the US and who struggles with the things that all seniors struggle with in their game like consistency and loss of distance. I enjoyed your video on your most important lesson and immediately set up some mirrors in my practice area. Thanks
The rawness and honesty of your videos are great to watch, rather than some videos where they say everything in the garden is Rosie when it is not, thank you
These unedited videos are fantastic Iona. Obviously your media experience, particularly interviews, helps you string a sentence or two together without umming and erring or stumbling. It is very refreshing, and a lot more personal. I'd love to see more unedited 'quick updates' or 'on the couch with Iona' videos.
I discovered you playing with Rick - you give me the same vibe as he does - honest, down to earth, passionate and your a great golfer (and Scottish)to boot. The only way is up I think
Another great chat with my Scottish friend! When you drop a new video, I smile and settle in for a lovely few moments. Thanks again for sharing your time and wisdom with us! You are the best.
Your authenticity is amazing. The sound animations of your contact and ball flight, just brings such a sense of realism to your videos! Thank you and do not change a thing!
I just got fitted for new clubs. As a now senior male golfer I wish my game was as good as yours or any of the female golfers on tour. You are an inspiration to me. Love this channel. Keep up the great work. 👍
Hi Iona, loving your commentary, golf is a game of can do, what you use and how you get there is a meter of personal feel, use what works, everyone is different, keep making great videos, cheers D
Love to see you iona as a coach especially for the young up and young golfers, you're such a an inspiration,, talented with a special personality,, personally I think you're amazing , I think you have what golfing needs,, oh and of course you're beautiful too,, what a special young lady,, ❤️
😂 as my golf is positively agricultural I was flummoxed by your use of expert club-fitters jargon, hopefully the clubs are what you’re after and take care of the wrist. 👍
Glad you listened to me LOL, I've gone F3 as my swing speed is down to 74 mph with a 7 iron. I did buy a set of Cobra tour with steel shafts but quickly jumped back to the Darts. Really hope they work for you Iona.
Looking forward to more good news about your golf and story! Always enjoy the updates! You bring us fans the best content imaginable and I love it all! Thank you for what you do!❤️
Cross the fingers that you have found the good combination for your game in 2024. I very much like your comments on your quest for the good clubs, shafts. As a beginner golfer, I am going to do my first fitting and your comments will help me asking the right questions. Thanks !
I developed a wrist/back of the hand injury years ago from decades of foosball. I thought it had healed until I started playing more golf. Maybe you've tried this but I've found that if I wear a compression glove after I've played it keeps it from getting agitated. And since I have a home simulator I play at least one round 3 to 5 times per week. Also, I can't imagine that somebody won't find those shafts for you eventually. Even I browsed the internet after you mentioned it. 😂 Love the channel, you are class personified 😉
I like the honesty over what your trying out interesting that you’ve gone to the t150 heads for 7 6 5 irons but stayed with the t100 in the rest I got fitted 2 yrs ago into the t100s heads and 50g steel reg shafts as I’ve lost a bit of strength and distance (I’m 60) and I’m loving them. I’m hope to build up my strength this yr but I’ve also got arthritis in my hands and wrists,so I need to build on them to,it’s great listening to your progress keep it coming Iona
Another good video! Your search continues!! I love the technical terms!!! lol, Iona I use jumbos on my Pelz wedges PW, Sandie, Lob, and my X-tra lob Love them!! keep the snows coming!!
Really interested to hear how you get on with the change of irons. Please keep us up to date on what you do with your grips too. It’s something that I’m keen to learn more about as I am looking to renew the grips on my irons and want to get the right ones for me. Thanks Iona. Really enjoying your channel
Hey Iona, Loved your “technical” description of the ball leaving the head of the club into flight. Perfect explanation. Interesting idea to have a split set of irons. Will be looking forward to your comment on the feel.
If it hasn’t already been suggested, maybe take a look at the Golf Pride MCC +4 grips. I play the midsize and just feel like the +4 with the slightly thicker midsize grip allows for my bottom hand and wrist to be “quieted” in relation to grip pressure and tension during the swing and it’s been a game changer. Good luck! I have really enjoyed watching your journey. Keep it up!
Just the last few views of your shots on the vlog, it really did look like there is plenty of confidence there with the iron's Iona 👍hopefully this set up will work for you over the coming season.
I have large hands & for years suffered with elbow problems (rather than wrist problems like you) but switching to straight (non-tapering) midsize grips made a massive difference. I used to have to limit myself to half hour lessons because I couldn't hit an hour's worth of balls. Now I can hit 25 for a warm up & go straight into an hours coaching with no repercussions.
Hi Iona, I am new to your channel. Wrist issues are an issue with me as well. Broken scaphoid with a screw holding it together. I have found the mid grip great and I also found that wearing a glove all the time like Lexi helps as well, as it saves me wearing a wrist support. Golf is great, do whatever you can to keep playing .
100% spot on! I just switched to axiom 105x’s from a 125 gram shaft. Gained 5 yards on average with no penalty. Why wouldn’t I do this? To look cool? Not me… I’d rather play good golf.
Hi Iona Nordica golf in the UK have new UST Recoil 80 shaft in a regular flex taper tip , 3 to wedge in stock if this is the shaft you had in your T200, it looks like the shaft on one of your old videos. As they are taper tip they couldn't be tip trimmed but I guess you could add a tip weight to make them feel more like the stiff flex. Enjoy the sunshine and heat, send some back to Scotland please 👍
Really interesting stuff. I think Nick Taylor (who won Canadian Open-woo hoo) uses a combo of t100s and t200s. Agree with everything you said about woman’s golf (Lydia Ko is T2 going into tomorrow in second event of year as well) and I believe we get a bonus Solheim Cup this year as they re-create the stagger with the Ryder Cup. Looking forward to watching you play with the new clubs. Thanks as always.
Please make sure you try the Jumbo grips, they help alot when having wrist issues, and are also lighter which will give you higher swingweight which seems to suit you!
Love the content and the mix matching you're trying/doing. If you like what you got now i wouldn't then try the jumbomax grips on everything right away. Maybe get a few spare clubs and put them on to try. Have a range session and see how your wrists feel. Coz it would likely alter your clubs and possibly need yet again another shaft change lol
One result of my injury is that I am very sensitive to grip size. MCC+4 is great for the low taper, saving weight and balance if you like more tape under your lower hand. For me: No tape - big flip, 1 layer - more release, but tired hands at end of round, 2 layers - perfect, 3 - start hitting blocks, midsize - NO. Feels out of control. My own quest to deal with my broken wrist is moving on. Working with a new pro, whose history includes working with Ernie both before and after injury. We realised that my held-off swing grew out of the year I spend only chipping and putting, and had a big cast forward. So we're trying to put a break in there. Shifting to a swing with a much more inside to out path, hanging back with my chest and using a MUCH flatter takeaway for driver particular is getting my arms through with the same sort of extension that i looked for with the held-off. but much more efficiency in strike. Here's hoping this is the next stage of MY evolution.
Great video - thoughtful and concise! Totally spitballing here (another technical term), but I wonder if a sole design like Srixon’s v.t. sole might help your wrist. I used to struggle with pain in my lower-left forearm, and since I started playing the v.t. sole last year, it hasn’t cropped up again at all. Keep up the awesome work 👍🏻 you were terrific on the mic during coverage of the event as well ☺️
On the subject of grip size I have big hands and tried jumbo size lamkin crossline grips. Felt great on my hands and was playing well however for some strange reason my radious on my lead arm started hurting by my elbow. Switched back to standard size with 3 wraps and the pain left. Everybody's different you just have to try different things to find the right combination. Hope you find the winning shafts!
Hey Iona I am using the Recoil Dart 75 in my PXG 0311P Gen 3 and they are fantastic they have helped my game a lot ,I hope you like them . Keep up the videos still the best on RU-vid 😊
Iona, do they not still have TVG tour van gold at Links range, guys in there used to be fantastic at fittings, had huge selection in my time getting my clubs tweaked. Monty and a good few of the other Scots all paid many a visit in there. SGGT also seem to have huge choice of shafts 🤷🏼♂️🤣⛳️
It would be great to get a video of you doing a fitting / review with Adam @ Auchterlonies. It's good to hear about the tweaks he's making for you. Don't know if Titleist would allow you to do that though.....
