We had been planning this Mojave Road overland trip for several months and we would have never imagined we would get hit with a snow storm along the way. We spent 4 days and 3 nights along this historic trail exploring the interesting geological structures, historical landmarks and quickly man made relics.... it was truly and unforgettable adventure! #mojavetrail #jeepwrangler #overlanding

It's called lapse rate. Generally speaking -3.5F for every 1,000ft gained is the accepted number but it techically varies with moisture content in the air. Dry air will see a larger drop of up to around 5.4F+- while moist air will see less of a drop at around 2.7+-. It's just easier to say -3F drop per 1,000.

In case it hasn't been mentioned b4, you would be shocked at how much better a campfire would be if you would tote along a washing machine drum. Put it up on several football sized rocks. The wood burns much more efficiently, slower, the heat retention will amaze everyone. You will burn so much less wood and the warmth that radiates in all directions will blow you away. The steel of the drum heats up and radiates a tremendous amount of heat. The rocks provide a taller heat blanket as well as providing air flow and also heat up and radiate heat. Try it once and you will never go back to pit campfires again. I realize space is limited with your rvs but this you WILL make room for. Regular campfires loose more heat than they radiate.

Don't worry my Subaru will give a jeep or fj a run for its money, me and my grandad used to drive a 2 wheel drive chevy k10 around this area. The overland movement is cool but most places these folks go you don't need a jacked up jeep, just a case and some friends to get you through when a push is needed. Love, just another preoverlander
@tank2449
@tank2449 5 лет назад
@@thehighcountrymedicalclini794 a case of beer? damn right brother. my stock 1984 s10 with a 2.8 v6 and 4x4 with lockers front and rear could do this easily. and i only have 31's on it with some trimming of the fender. its more about the driver than the vehicle. ive gone places that big lifted up trucks and jeeps couldnt make it. its all about hammering down when you need to and when to ease your way through something also. 2.8 v6 isnt putting out much power haha
@thehighcountrymedicalclini794
@thehighcountrymedicalclini794 5 лет назад
@@tank2449 damn straight a case of beer. Ya it is more so about the driver, and horsepower really isn't needed I mean you do need it but not like some guys push for. Ive watched a supercharged bronco mash up a hill with 35's lifted the werks and it looked cool throwing dirt and rocks huge bumpers ect... then I watched an international scout quietly and slowly putter over the same ruts haha, with its stock size tires. Got to remember some of this stuff is a lot like the guy knocking on your door I the 50's trying to sell you a mirco wave, when all you need is 5 more minutes on the old gas burner. Take care, from flagstaff, az

I had a '95 xj on 30s. A buddy had an '03 tj on '31s. While he was getting stuck, I was walking all over everything. I have a YJ now but I'm looking for another xj to build for this type of stuff. In other words, I guarantee it'll do fine. Just get a good set of all terrains (bfg ko2s or the like) instead of these SUV tires alot of people get, and you'll be alright

It’s always a pleasure watching your videos and you always explain things to expect out on the trails. It’s a great thing traveling with other folks. I’ve seen other videos with solo travelers and it’s too solo for my taste. Especially for example, when your rig catches on fire in the middle of nowhere!

I just returned from Mojave last night, (4 days- Balancing Rock to the Water Crossing) and had to watch this video again. What a great experience Mojave Road was. Thanks for the tips on making it such a successful trip. The camp in the New York Mountains was definitely the best of the 4 camps I stayed at. Balancing Rock was a close second. I missed the Rock House somehow, but managed to see everything else and more. I even saw Marco’s rock on the monument, still near the top. The crossing was deep, (About half way up the doors) and a little made its way into the cab, but It was dry by the time I got home. My Jeep did extremely well, and luckily suffered no trail damage. I’ve got to say, that was one of the best trips I’ve been on. Thanks again! OIIIIIIIO
