Prior to the Advent of MTV most music videos were lip synced mock stage performances that were used more as promotional videos to sell the album. Or they were recordings from TV shows where the artists were often forced to lip sync as well. Because of where Bon Scott died or when rather, you're not going to find any polished videos because he did his work before MTV. It's also similar if you watch a band like Queen. Early videos are often very cheaply done limited effects or just mock-ups of a concert performance. But later ones like I want to be free are full performances done for MTV and other shows from that time period.

AC/DC wasn't really big on music videos, but they did shoot one in 1975 for "It's a long way to the top (if you wanna rock n roll)" in the streets on Melbourne, Australia... and then one for 'Jailbreak' in 1976... There are a few TV performance clips from those early years, but they weren't as popular back then, so promotion money was tight... The earliest footage of AC/DC was a TV clip from 1974 w/ Dave Evans on vocals 😲 performing "Can I sit next to you girl"... In 1977, they did a music video for 'Let there be rock' just after Cliff Willams (bass) joined (Mark Evans played bass on the track) ... AC/DC were busy touring in 1978/ '79... so, they shot cheaper performance videos because they weren't big on spending time on sets when they had gigs to play. After Bon Scott died and Brian Johnson (vocals) joined AC/DC, they were busy on the road again and weren't keen on making music videos... so they filmed the 'Back in black' videos in 1 day... their crew filmed rehearsals in 1983 for videos promoting the album 'Flick of the switch' (which was not a big commercial success). Hoping to get on MTV, AC/DC filmed a comedy long-form video for their 1985 album 'Fly on the wall' ... which depicted AC/DC as a bar band playing the new songs while actors were cast as the patrons... In the end, the bar collapses from the noise and AC/DC is left standing on the last song 😂 The 'Who made who' soundtrack album had 2 very popular MTV music videos made - 'Who made who' (w/ an army of Angus Young clones) and 'You shook me all night long' (from 'Back in black', but re-released. Both Angus and Malcolm Young were dressed as schoolboys). After that, AC/DC made music videos for the albums 'Blow up your video' (1988)... "The Razor's Edge" (1990)... 'Ballbreaker' (1995) and 'Stiff upper lip' (2000) and despite not getting much MTV airplay later, they still made music videos for newer albums.

PS try singing that outro line just before the last “we’re on the highway to hell”…it’s hard af. Ian Gillian rightly deserves the scream rock crown but Bon Scott is way underrated for his power belt.

Angus has many signature moves. I've seen them twice, grateful for that.

The best thing about this band... they NEVER CHANGED! A "bar band" form day one... STILL a "bar band". 😎💯 Integrity is still worth something... 💯

The move at the end of the music video is called the duck walk first made famous by Chuck Berry.

Bon Scott was not going to play your music industry lip sync games lol. This was pre-MTV (just by a little bit) and music videos were very primitive and uncreative. That they did Let There Be Rock before this, and It’s a Long Way to the Top, is testament to their foresight. This one is clearly put out at the behest of the label, to capitalize on the single. Still great tho.

Almost every album they did in the 70's didn't get released in the US till 4 years after it was made. They were black listed, though you could see them in concert.

The best video they have made is Through The Mists of Time. Best trip through memory lane of Malcum, Bon, and the band. The album and song is on repeat in my car everyday.

Technically Angus may not be in the top 20, but as a preformer, he is #1

Definitely #1 performer, and definitely a guitar prodigy in the top tier. No one has ever moved and played like him before. Others may point to Chuck Berry, but Berry was elementary in his movement compared to Angus. And Angus and his brother Malcolm are also responsible for dozens and dozens of now classic guitar riffs and songs.

AC/DC with Bon Scot were a ROCK band with a great live performance honed and crafted for the Australian Pub Rock circuit. Those performances went down well on the international scene , but the full blown stadium concerts were still new and almost experimental. When AC / DC re emerged with the Back in Black album and tour, with Brian Johnston, the concerts were more managed and heading towards stadium events and fully scripted , managed and choreographed. Before 1980 no real rock band was going to stage a performance on tour unless they couldn’t perform and had to mime it. Pink Floyd changed all that with their light shows etc but it didn’t change overnight, it took a bit of time.

Not sure how many guitar riffs or solos are created by Angus..... he admits he is not the best guitar player in his family...... Older brother MALCOLM ( on rhythm ) wrote most of the music and arranged it, and the eldest brother George ( Easybeats and Flash n the Pan ) taught both of them and was possibly the best of the 3 AC / DC riffs and solos are simple and not regarded as difficult to play, but the arrangements are not so simple and the band is tight. Also...... not many guitar players can play when moving around or shaking their head...... to dance around like Angus and still be accurate and with perfect timing is what makes him so special.

i meself put angus at number two, just behind his brother malcolm. just sayin'.

The loving brothers always claimed that the other one was the better guitar player, but there was a reason that Malcolm made Angus the lead. He knew how special and unique he was.
