- Daidus' and my voices sound kinda distant every now and then because we were sharing one microphone so sorry about that 😅 -I wish we couldve talked longer but on this particularly day we were in a hurry because of a lunch reservation we had to rush to so the whole thing is less than an hour but it was still more than enough material to work with for me!! :D next time i do something like this it'll be longer!!
I get what Daidus is saying, he doesn't dislike Ramen. He just likes Udon better. Emily liking instant Ramen over the actual stuff is verging on madness though.
Nah, I'm with her. There's something about instant noodles that just hits diffrent then normal ones. If that's madness then I happily proclaim myself mad.

Daidus’ tastebuds must be hella strong to notice the taste of coconut milk in curry. As much as I hate coconut, curry just isn’t as good without coconut milk. It’s essential
Being from South Asia, I can't imagine what curry tastes like without coconut milk haha. It's the base for many if not most South Indian and Sri Lankan curries.
It's funny that Connor's Udon argument boiled down to "it has so little flavor", then when given alternatives that have actual flavor his response was abject horror.
Connor also recalled his time with Kaho and the okonomiyaki challenge they took on, and how that ruined forever okonomiyaki for him. Though if you eat for quantity and not quality, the feeling of disgust you get for a food could do that psychologically. One bad experience can ruin how you look at that food others praise to high Heaven.
@@theodorehsu5023 That's the case for me for most fish. I enjoy it still, but because I've been allergic to most fish for much of my life I tend to avoid it. I enjoy Tuna and Salmon, but the others are more of a dish by dish basis whether I would eat it. Like it doesn't taste bad to me, it just doesn't seem like all its hyped up to be. That and my brain associates the taste of many fish with the feeling I would get when I got an allergic reaction and then it becomes less appetizing for me.
@@brendanmystery If it’s a fish I haven’t had before or not so much I would maybe do a smaller piece cooked. Last week I had a cooked “collar of yellowtail” because once I had yellowtail sushi and didn’t get as much enjoyment as a tuna/salmon sushi (eel sushi is a fave though).
On the living off Nuggets & Fries thing, I'm kind of like that and I am generally pretty fussy and picky due to my autism making me be incredibly sensitive to certain tastes, flavours and smells and I find fried/beige food is relatively a safe thing due to not really being strong in any of that kind of way.
Same here! Nuggets and fries always taste the same, vs fresh food like fruit can look identical but taste and FEEL different for each bite and its unpredictable😭
Oh my God I autistic too ! For such a long time I was so picky on foods especially veggies that I liked. And now I generally will eat anything. I especially love spicy food.
Never before has the person I'm rooting for in the moment changed more times over such a short duration, everyone in this video feels both unfathomably based and touroughly wrong.
In my opinion, Strawberry Ice Cream has always been my number one favorite, and maybe that’s because I just love strawberry-flavored things in general.
I absolutely love strawberry ice cream, as a kid, strawberry and vanilla ice cream were the flavours would gravitate towards, I haven’t had strawberry ice cream in a long time though, I should have it some time
I mean this in the nicest way possible but dude you’re just wrong. Like straight up as someone who has strawberry as their favorite fruit even in my bias I have to point out that strawberry ice cream just isn’t it. It’s just really mid like unnaturally mid!
i love the art thumbnail because it shows the trash taste just judging emily for her taste and then there’s daidus just enjoying ramen because he likes the food😭
As a strawberry ice cream enjoyer I'm very sad that I will not have to listen to your takes again. However I will say I must agree with you kinda I do like Udon as equally as Ramen.
I would like to point out that "American Chineese" restaurants are all still owned and operated by Chinese people (at least the ones that I've been to) and they all serve Orange Chicken/General Tso's Chicken. I agree with Daidus by the way General Tso's Chicken is amazing.
reminds me of xiran jay zhao's video abt not discrediting chinese american food bc its a whole wave of immigrants that came and tried to recreate/renew the recipes they know from home but cant perfectly replicate and they create a new food culture in a place where they adapted the ingredients they had on hand
And being a chinese descendant not based in the US, we do have sweet and sour chicken, just not orange chicken. The boys just haven't had that much of southern Chinese food yet
@@melowlw8638 I think another point Xiran mentioned was that Chinese immigrants had to adapt their cuisine for Western palletes. It was only recently that Americans started denouncing Chinese-American food as "inauthentic".
I think what they mean is chain chinese restaurants like Panda Express. If you go to a family owned, mom and pop type chinese restaurant then yes, you're getting a more accurate experience
I know this is entirely in my head, but it feels like the audio is located exactly where their art is on screen and it makes it so nice to listen to, almost feels like it’s in person lol
Dude the ace attorney moment in the regular video still is stuck in my head, this is just making me laugh super hard I almost burned my tongue eating while laughing
I feel that as an America i should point out that the frozen chicken nugget thing is less of an "American" thing and more of a poverty thing. I live in the south-east US so you know we have some chicken nuggets available around here but you rarely if ever see anyone eating them out right unless money is tight. At least in my experience that is how it has been
That's very true. I will say, most americna processed foods are targeted to those who are in poverty because the meals are easy cooking and "cheap." A lot of working families have a hard time actually sitting down and cooking due to having several jobs, kids, or no time. Like, someone who comes from a wealthier background generally does not come across the same processed foods as lower middle class.
I feel like these uncut versions need their own channel. Emily could upload way more of them without crowding her main channel and giving her 2 sources of revenue. I'd immediately sub to both
I somewhat agree with what Emily said on Okonomiyaki. I do enjoy the sauce but sometimes they put too much of it on, especially when it's sweetness is compounded with the sweeter kewpie mayo. More often than not I can eat only one, after that it just becomes too much.
My controversial opinion is that I adore English, Scottish, and Irish food. Gimme that fry up. Gimme that fish 'n chips. Gimme that sausage roll. Gimme that Dublin Coddle. Gimme that bubble and squeak. Gimme that soda bread. Gimme that steak and kidney pie. Gimme that Scotch pie. Gimme that pork pie. Gimme that Beef and Guinness pie. Gimme that shepherds pie. Gimme that cottage pie. I will sit down to a plate of beige and have the time of my life.
@@nikhilbhavani981 I'm Canadian but I have a lot of Scottish ancestry on my mother's side and a bit of Irish ancestry on my father's. I suppose it's just some latent gene that calls me to gaze across the Atlantic towards the rainy green lands of my forebears and dream of ground meat wrapped in pastry.
@@ReallyOutThere2 I read this comment, now I can’t unsee it in my mind damnit! The fact that they’re dating too, makes it sound like some weird kink. 😂
What's crazy for me is that I'm pretty sure I have the Cilantro soapy taste gene (my brother definitely does), however I just grew up eating it and got acclimated to its taste, so I still enjoy it. I say I'm pretty sure, because I enjoy it, however I can understand where people who have the gene are coming from when they say Cilantro tastes soapy.
Personally, I like strawberry ice cream, but only certain kinds. I do agree that some strawberry ice creams taste very artificial, and in some, like, I've had strawberry revel ice cream, and the strawberry flavor was very strong. It just made it difficult to eat. Now, if the strawberry taste is subtle and it has strawberry pieces in it, then that's a good strawberry ice cream.
Listened to this after seeing the animated summarized version, and I love the banter and roasting you all share! 😂 Loving your vids, Emily! I just subscribed, so I hope to see more! 😊
I agree Emily’s “some things taste chemically” take. I work at an ice cream parlor and our vanilla is our best seller. It tastes the way play-doh smells and I can not unthink it no matter how many times I try it.
Ever since I had authentic Ramen for the first time in New Orleans, I honestly came to prefer the real thing over instant Ramen. But, with that being said, for convenience sake, I'll typically instant Ramen when I'm craving Ramen, since the it's most available in my area.
I can understand the complaint about Tempura not having flavour, because It's very hard to season the Batter and sometimes it's not enough to just dip and mix the fillings in the Seasoned Batter to season them as well either. Tho I never had a real Japanese Tempura before. But I have a tip; a homebrew of mine: _If the Tempura lacks flavour, try this: add Chilled _*_Beer_*_ to the Batter instead of Chilled Water, + plenty of _*_Monossodiun Glutamate_*_ both to the Batter and the Fillings._ Mix it very, VERY, well. Preferably *Pale Pilsen/Lager Beer* . Not too bitter, but with enough flavour of Malt and Barley. I've also tried with *Sweet Stout* , but I dunno if that's for everyone's flavour. It goes well on *Veggetables Tempura* and *Shrimp Tempura* (or Veggetables and Shrimp Tempura for the matter).
I am really impressed with Emily's Food preferences. . Instant Ramen is much preferred than a ramen that was cooked for 5-10 hours. Message to Emily, if Connor @CDawgVA bully you about this, please always remind him that he once said he preferred canned Tuna than fresh tuna!!!
C’mon Connor, Joey and Garnt the moment Emily said instant ramen ya know her Korean blood popped off can’t blame her cuz it a Korean thing (btw I’m Filipino)
Haha, they do eat a lot of instant ramyeon 😅 I’m half-Korean/half-Chinese, so I adapt well to both instant and fresh noodle ramen, but I have to agree on Emily’s preference to udon. I don’t know, something about the slippery noodles just makes it go really well with all broths, from really flavorful to really simple light broths. Also, udon noodles last longer than ramen noodles in terms of sogginess.
Honestly I'm going to use this as kinda like food inspo for my Japan trip next summer lol. As a fellow Udon enjoyer I'm especially intrigued by cheesy udon definitely going to be on the lookout for it on my trip! Thanks for the Japanese food recommendations! 😂💖
Question: Who else, after hearing that moment of Emily getting just SCREAMED at for, just about, liking instant ramen over actual ramen, was thinking of the time when the same thing happened to her when she said, at the time, she never watched Avatar: The Last Airbender? I can say for sure that I did. XD
ngl I love how you can sort of just see everyone team on some food choices and then when someone leaves to the other side the person on that side just like freaks out or smnthg
Daidus is like that experiment? Theory? That thing where shaved ice only has one flavor, and it only seems different because of the color and the smell. That's basically Daidus' whole perception of the coconut ice cream.
i literally went downstairs, forgot to pause the video midway through the udon bit, washed the mountain of dishes downstairs, came back upstairs and they were still talking about noodles 😭
I have to say, between Udon and Ramen, I prefer Udon, probably part to just home cooking. Usually having it with beef bones (with meat on it, along with bone marrow too)
