Fun fact: ice is an insulator, so when it reaches a certain thickness on the surface of lakes, it keeps the heat trapped underneath it, hence why the fish don't freeze. The ice actually keeps the water below it warm enough not to freeze. The ambient temperature has to be EXTREMELY cold in order to freeze the entirety of a lake because of ice's insulating properties. That's why the fish don't freeze. I can literally hear Trixie right now saying "is it exhausting knowing everything?"
