I can confirm the GPS errors are present with the 147.148.123 version. I downloaded this version a day or two before this video came out, but didn't take the detector for a ride until today (3/11/2024). GPS failures occurred as soon as the automatic GPS lockout tried to engage when there appeared to be more than two signals at the local Walmart. Vortex, without your videos, I would have thought something had gone wrong with my R7.....thank you for continuous efforts and notices!
This is an amazing update! Can't wait to get installed. The expanded K-block stuff is something I've been screaming about for a long time now. Really looking forward to this update.
@@ivanmendoza4943 here's the other thing in California the CHP have switched over their radar and Laser detectors to some kind of undetectable system. I'll still pick them up but it's getting more and more apparent that I come up onto a cop without my detector ever going off.

I've already encountered a CX-5 with BSM and can comfirm the update worked. The detector didn't utter a sound while I was looking at the Yellow light in the Mazda's mirror as I passed around it in the south lanes with his BSM warning him I was there.
The international version is amazing. I’ve had it for over a year I’m super happy with it and the service provided when I have questions. I also have an escort redline 360c which I found to be noisy on k band and more false ka bands than the r7 international. The r7 for New Zealand roads is definitely the best radar to get
Nice review. I was a little confused on the “unmute” function when I updated my detector. This helped me know what to do with it. I’m sure glad I delayed on the 1.47. It looks confusing on top of the GPS issues.
I would have to agree. The International 1.50 firmware does everything I need. As far as supermarkets, the quiet ride takes care of my needs. I don't know about tweeking the range for every new encounter.
@@ivanmendoza4943no chance. would still take my r8 all day. loved my r7 to death but unsurprisingly the r8 is objectively the better detector. you can get around most of these issues on the R8 if you just pair it to a companion app on your phone given it has bluetooth (and this enables many other functions).
nice piece as always. My R7 is an earlier production model and the volume + button is no longer working after the 1.46 update. I have already emailed this to Uniden support and waiting for their response. I will try to do a factory reset and reinstall to see if this will work and if not, then probably go back to the lower firmware.
i mear yhe R7 has w firmware where it has RDD protection? are you able to test how much that affects ghe detection of KA, on max stealth and active stealth RDD protection? and how it stwnds against other scanners like the R3?
Sigh. If they released the updates for the R8 first again, R7 owners would complain that Uniden forgot about them. If they release it to the R7 first, R8 users complain instead. I feel like people complain no matter what.
@@VortexRadarYou’re correct. But good business dictates that you generally take care of your more premium products/customers first. Would be kind of weird if Apple gave the iPhone 14 Pro features the iPhone 15 Pro doesn’t have. It would never happen. The R8 is out. People with an R3/R7 should be happy they are still getting anything.
I hear you and agree with you. Welcome to the world of small companies with limited manpower and resources. If RD companies were the size of Apple, so many things would be different, not just updates being made across their entire lineup all at once. I’m not making excuses for them. It’s just a common trend with these small companies, for better or for worse.
Well R8 owners paid more & bought the flagship model (at least until very recently) of Uniden's detector lineup. Can you imagine if say Audi, updated (via computer flash) the Q3 with all kinds of wiz-bang capability that the Q8 didn't have? @@VortexRadar

I just got hit with a TruCAM II video speed gun. My R7 didn't give no alerts. I'm in Guyana and I brought the R7. I haven't updated it to the latest software so I don't know if that have anything to do with it. Usually in the US I get that dribble alert before I see patrol. I talked my way out of this ticket so I got lucky. Anyone have an idea why I didn't get the alert. I use the R7 and R8 in Colorado,I have them in 2 different vehicles and they work perfect.
Here in Alberta when I'm coming up on our MRCD guys it doesn't detect until i pass them. I'm hoping this update fix's that, also helps that they're clearly marked now too LOL

You make it sound sooo simple to update the r7. When I plug it in to my mac, nothing happens. Also I cant get anything to load as far as updates to my mac. Please give a step by step on how to update
MAC HELP NEEDED!!!! I’m currently running 144.147.121 firmware but can’t seem to get my iMac to download the 1.46 firmware and install it. It downloads then immediately put it into a .bin file that I can’t extract. I used the same computer before to update my R7 so I know I can but is 1.46 compatible?? No I don’t have a windows computer at my disposal.
You may have to update to the Updater R Series Tool v 2.11, and you'll have to bypass the default security block(s) to install the updater software that's not from the App Store.
WTFFFFF!!!! i bought a Mazda cx-5 and the r7 rader just arrived .... m. y r3 kept k signal when i activate in the mazda . Should I return the rader then
Turning it off disables the filter. Maybe start with the “Weak” option, but if it the signal is too strong and punches through the weak setting, you can try progressively turning up the signal strength threshold until the alerts go away.
I can’t get the update tool to read my detector. I saw that version 2.18 of the update tool was on the website every time I tried to unzip the file it can’t be unzipped or it is archived. I’m still on 2.08 should that matter?
Funny, after installing Mitherou 150 INT firmware, my detector is not recognized by Uniden 2.18 install tool. it works NP when connnecting R3. Head scratcher Any indeas?
Yep it’s part of the security feature so if the detector gets stolen, no one can wipe the custom firmware with a Uniden one and remove your info that displays at startup. There is a way to unlock the firmware if you want to change it. Instructions came with the custom firmware from Mithheru.

Gatso probably only works for US market, different frequencies from EU. Most detectors detect RT, but that is all they do, more like alert "you got a ticket". Being honest about it. No antenna that is horizontal placed (vertical polarized) will detect Gatso good enough to avoid mobile RT4 radar. But maybe ........

I’m waiting for 1.47 to be officially released from Uniden before updating my recommended settings. I’m also kinda annoyed that Uniden won’t fix the autolockouts themselves and instead is seemingly throwing their hands up and asking their users try and fix it.
So do I. I’ve done several videos on this too, but Uniden released 1.47, but pulled it due to bugs. He fixed it and rereleased it. His current custom firmware is 1.50 International if that’s what you mean?
