I've been using this phone for about 6 months and I couldn't be happier with it. I purposefully wanted a phone similar to the 00's Blackberries because I loved them, and the more important reason is that I wanted to cut down on the 'mindless scrolling.' This phone exceeded my expectations. For someone looking to minimize their smartphone use while retaining access to whatever needed apps, this phone is perfect. The touch screen works surprisingly well and I still have this opinion 6 months in. This phone feels and works like a $600 phone, not a $300 dollar phone.

Very well said! Have been using one for months and feel the same way--perfect balance between utility and minimalism.

@@badgermccullins6729 my only issue with it is that I don’t receive picture and audio files thru SMS. I tried a third party app but then I had some people telling me that I wasn’t receiving their messages.

I've the UniHertz Jelly Star and ironically, their smallest phone is their fastest phone. Really well built devices.

Tip: There is an app on the phone that allows you to force portrait or landscape on a per-app basis.

Back in the day, something with this kind of processing speed would be the holy grail must have phone. Nowadays, not so sure with the way onscreen keyboards are, and voice recognition works reasonably well for archaic searches. Not to mention the huge downside of a significantly compromised screen size due to the physical keys. Still see a niche market for these but pretty small one at that.

Nice Review. I wish it was priced around 200 USD. Would be curious to understand how their mail app looks as that is what Blackberry did well.
@CommodoreFan64
@CommodoreFan64 2 года назад
Agreed, $200, or less would be the sweet spot for this phone with such a small screen, and the other issues that it has, now if it had a larger 16:9 screen I could see $250 max, as I only paid $200 for my unlocked Moto G Power 2020 back in July of 2020, and it blows this phone away except in RAM, and storage, and obviously no physical keyboard.

It is absolutely worthless: killed by Google and let to rotten by the very poor and pathetic losers at Unihertz. __ I am going to try and send mine back, because this is a stab in the back: absolutely nothings has remained the same as when I purchased the phone three months ago.

Reminds me of the old NEC Terrain Android phone, which was by far my favorite Android phone of all time. It was a shame it didn't get too much OTA support to stay on the market back then. It only ran Android in the 4.0 era.

It would be neat if they released another model with a proper full screen and a landscape oriented slide out keyboard. Out of all the old phones I have, that was the easiest to type on. Those Blackberry keyboards were a bit cramped anyway.

How well would this function on AT&T? I really would like to jump for one but AT&T won't promise anything for any device not on their whitelist and switching to T-Mobile is not an option because of where I live.

If this phone had a bigger 16:9 screen, a slightly stronger SOC and a price reduction to around $250 I think it would be a hit, but as is, na I'm gonna pass.

With such a small screen, and the other issues I'd say $200 - $230 is the sweet spot for this phone, as I only payed $200 for my unlocked Moto G Power 2020 back in July 2020 which was only a few months after it was released, and a basic Alcatel Android 11 Go edition phone with a bigger screen than the Unihertz can be had for as little as $40.

And support is crap. And Unihertz does not solve any of its bugs - and there are sooooooo many on them. And updates changed (broke) everything about this phone. And Google is just demolishing every single day. __ I have paid € 274,99 and that was too much as the device has been rendered useless and turned into some kind of childish piece of crap that is worth € 30,00 max. // Unihertz clearly had no intentions in keeping this phone alive, or even keep its features there. No, they only wanted to make some quick money and that is it.
